This is a comparative study mainly on foreign countries' domestic standards and laws on barrier free housing construction that can be applied to the dwelling of elderly friendly apartment housing. Eight countries - the United States, Germany, Canada, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Australia, Japan, and China - were reviewed as foreign cases. The analyzed subjects were design standards only for the disabled and the aged. To compare barrier-free guides of the eight countries, each barrier-free guide on three space units (entrance, bedroom, living room) was divided into 11 design items and 36 design factors. The comparative analysis on foreign cases was based on the design guide according to Korea's KS P 1509 (principle and recommendation for designing dimension of dwelling in consideration of the elderly). Some factors -if with dimensions- were compared by means of the skewness of distribution. In the analysis result, there were not only common standards for the nine countries such as a dimension of the space for wheelchair movement but also different standards such as heights of outlets and horizontal lengths of bathtub grab bars. The detailed analysis shows that it is urgently necessary to prepare new domestic national design standards for 8 factors that foreign countries already have. It is also needed to immediately prepare dimension standards for the design factors, which have no detailed dimensions but only national guides, in consideration for anthropometric dimension.

Method: It was investigated 24 middle class housings of metropolitan area in winter which have been built for the past 30 years. Concentration of HCHO, TVOC was investigated in living room at morning and night and concentration of $CO_2$ was investigated in living room and master bedroom at morning and night. SKT100-X5 was used for concentration of HCHO, TVOC and ZGm053UK for concentration of $CO_2$. The characteristics of HCHO, TVOC, $CO_2$ concentration in winter were analyzed and then the concentrations in winter were analyzed the concentrations in summer being preceding research comparatively. Result: Average concentration of TVOC in winter was 2.7 times more than that of TVOC in summer, average concentration of HCHO in winter was about 2.0 times more than that of HCHO in summer. Average concentration of $CO_2$ in the morning at living room in winter was 1.3 times more than that of $CO_2$ in summer. Average concentration of $CO_2$ in the morning at master bedroom in winter was 1.1 times more than that of $CO_2$ in summer. Average concentration of TVOC was 1.31 times more than that of HCHO and standard deviation of that was 1.73 times higher. Average concentration of $CO_2$ was almost nearly close or over to 1,000ppm being criteria of the Ministry of Environment.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the spatial composition characteristics of elderly housing facilities in Korea, in order to refer them in establishing the basic plan for elderly housing in Korea. The case study performed in this study from October 16 to October 31 is based on ten housing facilities for the elderly in KOREA. During the site visits, the interview with the custodians, survey of the space, picture taking and diagram gathering were carried out. The results of this study were as follows; 1. The type of floor plan was classified into ㅁ type, L type, and ㅡ type. And they hadn't an outside space called a garden(courtyard). 2. The kinds of common spaces could be grouped as the space for basic living, for leisure, and for convenient living. Also it was all common that the housing facility had common diningroom laundry room once, and activity room. The type of the common spaces was categorized into three types, the centralized type where the shared space was located at the center of the housing facilities, the distributed type, depending on the degree of separation between common spaces and units, and another each building type. 3. The kinds of units was classified into studio, oneroom, one bedroom and two bedroom. 4. Elevator, safety grab bar, emergency bell, and the door handle of lever or bar type were placed in these facilities.
The purpose of this study were to identify seasons variation of house dust mites allergen and perceived allergic symptom. The subjects were consisted of 29 family with allergy patients and 34 family without allergy patients. Perceived allergic symptoms were accessed and house dust was sampled from beds, floor of bedroom, kitchen and livingroom in spring(August), summer (July), fall(October) and winter(January) and tested using two-site ELISA. The results were as follows; 1) In all family, amount of house dust mites allergen(Der fI) of livingroom floor was the highest in summer$(4.73{\mu}g/1g\;of\;dust)$, and then fall$4.67{\mu}g/1g\;of\;dust)$, winter$(3.94{\mu}g/1g\;of\;dust)$, spring$(1.73{\mu}g/1g\;of\;dust)$. 2) In family with allergy patients, amount of house dust mites allergen(Der fI) of bedroom floor was highest in fall $(9.75{\mu}g/1g\;of\;dust)$. 3) In family with allergy patients, amount of house dust mites allergen(Der fI) of mattress was highest in fall$(8.23{\mu}g/1g\;of\;dust)$. 4) Perceived allergic symptom scores of family with allergy patients were higher than family without allergy patients in all seasons. In family without allergy patients, perceived allergic symptom scores was the highest in spring(4.29) and perceived allergic symptom scores of family with patients was the highest in winter(2.49). 5) The relationship of house dust mites allergen and perceived allergic symptom scores were positively related (r=.941, p=.000). Perceived allergic symptoms were correlated with amount of house dust mites allergen, That is, perceived allergic symptoms were became worse by house dust mites allergen. So House dust mites allergen reducing strategies and intervention should be recommended in further study.
This study is aimed to suggesting a hypothesis about the process of improvement of houses of the Korean-Chinese, comparing how Han Chinese and Korean-Chinese houses changed in Yanbian Area of China. This draws the conclusion by analyzing the field survey about residence of the Han Chinese and the Korean-Chinese in Yanbian Area of China. First of all, the characteristic of residence style change and the plan of rural houses of the Han Chinese are in the following. The plan of houses has been changed from allocating rooms from side to side with the kitchen as the center to linking each functional spaces through the aisle. And the main bedroom of houses becomes the central space for family members instead of Kang (partial Ondol) by expanding the floor heating system under the whole floor in houses. Next, the feature of residence style changes of the Han Chinese and the Korean-Chinese is as follows. In 1970s barns disappeared from houses of the Korean Chinese, but houses of the Han Chinese were not much changed. From 1980s to 1990s, spaces linking each rooms with aisles had appeared for comfortableness of residence and respecting each individual's privacy. This study aims to provide basic data for designing aged care residential facilities in Korea, based on the investigation and analysis of the aged care residential services and their communal living areas in Australia focusing on their types, scales, arrangement and the specific design of each compartment. -. A residential building with 10 beds is composed of private zones and communal ones, and their space arrangement depends on how to arrange bedrooms where residents mainly stay. -. A lounge, 26.7 m$^2$ of its average scale, is a main space for daily lives and an important place for making friends with neighboring residents. -. A dining hall is an important area for activity as well as a space for dining. The average scales of dining room, kitchen, and whole space are 42.7 m$^2$, 28 m$^2$, and 70.8 m$^2$ respectively, and those for person are 2.7 m$^2$: 1.7 m$^2$:4.4 m$^2$, although the scales depend on facilities. -. An activity room is used for promoting the social relationship between residents and visitors. Three of the investigated facilities have big rooms of 42 m$^2$, 39 m$^2$ and 51 m$^2$. -. If there is no lavatory in a bedroom, 2-6 bathrooms for residents are arranged near bedrooms and they are relatively big including shower baths. If there is a lavatory in a bedroom, 1 toilet for visitors is arranged in a communal living area and its scale is small.
