MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are ~22nt-long single-stranded RNA molecules that form a RNA-induced silencing complex with Argonaute (AGO) protein to post-transcriptionally downregulate their target messenger RNAs (mRNAs). To understand the regulatory mechanisms of miRNA, discovering the underlying functional rules for how miRNAs recognize and repress their target mRNAs is of utmost importance. To determine functional miRNA targeting rules, previous studies extensively utilized various methods including high-throughput biochemical assays and bioinformatics analyses. However, targeting rules reported in one study often fail to be reproduced in other studies and therefore the general rules for functional miRNA targeting remain elusive. In this review, we evaluate previously-reported miRNA targeting rules and discuss the biological impact of the functional miRNAs on gene-regulatory networks as well as the future direction of miRNA targeting research.
In manufacturing process, usually 2-dimensional part drawing is used as a basic data. If a designer wants to recognize 2-dimensional drawing and formulate 3-dimensional shape, a proper feature recognition rule is required as a prerequisite step. These rules are converted Into knowledge base, should be ed separately in the recognition program and can be referenced In similar way of database application. In this paper, basic feature recognition rules are addressed in structure type knowledge base, and the application system is formulated which can be operated separately with existing data driven program.
In this paper we analyzed each region of specific points and e-Δephase plane in order to make fuzzy rule base. After we composed the fuzzy control rules which can decrease rise time, delay time, maximum overshoot than basic fuzzy control rules. The composed method are converged more rapidly than single rule base in convergence region. Proposed method is alternately use at specific points of e-Δephase plane with two fuzzy control rules, that is one control rule occruing the steady state error used in transient region and another fuzzy control rule use to decrease the steady state error and rapidly converge at the convergence region. Two fuzzy control rules in the e-Δe phase plane decide the change time according to response characteristics of plants. As the results of simulation through the second order plant and the delay time plan, Proposed dual fuzzy control rules get the good response compare with the basic fuzzy control rule.

This research proposes a method for designing VSI (Variable Sampling Interval) control charts with supplementary run rules. The basic idea is to apply various run rules and the VSI scheme to a control chart in order to increase the sensitivity. The sampling process of the VSI run rules chart is constructed by Markov chain approach. A procedure for designing the VSI run rules chart is proposed based on Lorenzen and Vance's model. Sensitivity study shows that the VSI run rules charts outperform the FSI (Fixed Sampling Interval) run rules charts for wide range of process mean shifts. A major advantage of the VSI run rules chart over other charts such as CUSUM, EWMA, and adaptive charts is it's simplicity in implementation. Some useful guidelines are proposed based on the sensitivity study.
The CMI Rules for Electronic Bills of Lading were based on sound principles that are now reflected in the provisions of the Rotterdam Rules, which provide for the use of electronic equivalents to bills of lading. Services involving bills of lading which exist in electronic form for at least part of their lives, and which use encryption to guarantee integrity and security of these electronic records, are already being offered by a number of carriers, among them APL. The relative success of APL's system demonstrates that the use of a system which embodies the basic ideas and processes underlying the CMI Rules could easily become a practical reality in the near future. The basic principles in the CMI Rules and the Rotterdam Rules adopt a minimum requirements approach and does not flesh out the details of procedures for the use of electronic bills. This is an improvement, as it allows adaptability to future technological developments. Successful electronic bill of lading systems can only be developed in response to customer demand, and carriers are in the best position to gauge this and design systems to cater for it. APL has demonstrated this by creating a system which is tailor-made to its customers' requirements. The CMI Rules were correct in their assumption that electronic bill of lading services should be provided by carriers. They also seem to have anticipated that the switch to the electronic medium would not be sudden and complete, but would require a gradual phasing out of paper documents over a long period of time.
In this paper, we propose competitive fuzzy polynomial neurons-based advanced Self-Organizing Neural Networks(SONN) architecture for optimal model identification and discuss a comprehensive design methodology supporting its development. The proposed SONN dwells on the ideas of fuzzy rule-based computing and neural networks. And it consists of layers with activation nodes based on fuzzy inference rules and regression polynomial. Each activation node is presented as Fuzzy Polynomial Neuron(FPN) which includes either the simplified or regression polynomial fuzzy inference rules. As the form of the conclusion part of the rules, especially the regression polynomial uses several types of high-order polynomials such as linear, quadratic, and modified quadratic. As the premise part of the rules, both triangular and Gaussian-like membership (unction are studied and the number of the premise input variables used in the rules depends on that of the inputs of its node in each layer. We introduce two kinds of SONN architectures, that is, the basic and modified one with both the generic and the advanced type. Here the basic and modified architecture depend on the number of input variables and the order of polynomial in each layer. The number of the layers and the nodes in each layer of the SONN are not predetermined, unlike in the case of the popular multi-layer perceptron structure, but these are generated in a dynamic way. The superiority and effectiveness of the Proposed SONN architecture is demonstrated through two representative numerical examples.
A standardized ergonomics kit is suggested to evaluate and reduce musculoskeletal hazards that yield large socioeconomic burdens in the work system. This kit comprises basic and detailed analysis tools with proper tool selection rules. The basic tool includes a checklist for various risk factors to screen potentially hazardous jobs among manual works. Selective detailed analysis tools can then be applied to the screened job lists for more quantitative and precise evaluation. The tool selection rules are devised for using the basic and detailed analysis tools in a mutually supplemental way. To validate the standardized ergonomics kit, it was applied to evaluate jobs related to the musculoskeletal hazards in a paper-making industry. Among 101 manual jobs investigated, 44 potential hazardous jobs were screened during basic investigation phase and finally 16 hazardous jobs were identified by the detailed analysis phase. The result provided fairly promising ideas of ergonomic interventions for the hazardous jobs.
