Thermal conductivity of PLA-bamboo fiber composites

  • 'Green' composites were fabricated from poly lactic acid (PLA) and bamboo fibers by using a conventional hot pressing method. The insulating properties of the PLA-bamboo fiber 'green' composites were evaluated by determination of the thermal conductivity, which was measured using a hot-wire method. The thermal conductivity values were compared with theoretical estimations. It was demonstrated that thermal conductivity of PLA-bamboo fiber 'green' composites is smaller than that of conventional composites, such as glass fiber reinforced plastics (GFRPs) and carbon fiber reinforced plastics (CFRPs). The thermal conductivity of PLA-bamboo fiber 'green' composites was significantly influenced by their density, and was in fair agreement with theoretical predictions based on Russell's model. The PLA-bamboo fiber composites have low thermal conductivity comparable with that of woods.

  • This study was carried out to develop the core technology for the manufacturing the flat floor panel with the bamboo grown in Damyang region maintaining its indigenous merits. Using capital bamboo(Phyllostachys bambusoides) of Damyang with superior physical and working properties, Authors have standardized the core technologies for the integrated production of flat floor panel using this superior bamboo i.e, washing, splitting, flattening, blasting, and overlaying over plywood. It is expected to increase the income from bamboo forest and to enhance the image of the eco-city, Damyang with this technological development. Additional quality assuring test and economical analysis for the industralization as building material will be performed.

대나무 분말의 항산화력과 돼지의 면역 활성에 미치는 영향 (Antioxidant activity of Bamboo powder and its immunoreactivity in the pig)

  • 본 연구는 대나무 분말의 항산화 활성이 비육돈에서 면역조절 효과에 미치는 영향을 구명하기 위해 실시하였으며, 이를 위해 대나무 분말 추출물의 항산화능을 검정하기 위하여, 총페놀 함량, 플라보노이드 함량 및 DHHP, ABST, hydroxyl radical 등의 소거활성능을 알아보았다. 대나무 추출물의 항산화능은 높게 나타났으며, DPPH와 ABTS, HRSA 라디칼 소거능은 12~21%였으며, 추출물의 유효성분으로 총페놀 함량은 171 mg/g이었으며, 플라보노이드 함량은 127. mg/g으로 나타났다. 다음으로 대나무 분말이 함유된 배합사료 급여시 돼지의 면역력에 미치는 영향을 알아보았다. 처리구에는 일반사료를 급여하였고, 시험구는 일반사료에 대나무분말을 1.0%, 2.0% 및 3.0%을 첨가하여 급여하였다. 대나무분말 첨가수준에 따라 혈액의 혈구계수 중 백혈구, 적혈구, 헤마토크리트 함량에서 유의적인 수준의 차이를 나타내지 않았다. 하지만 헤모글로빈 함량이 무처리 대조구에 비교하여 증가하였으며 특히 2~3%의 처리구에서 헤모글로빈 함량은 높게 나타났다. 혈액 내 총단백질, 혈중 알부민의 농도를 분석한 결과 처리구와 무처리구간에 유의적인 차이를 나타내지 않았다. AST, ALT 함량은 대나무 분말 처리군에서 무처리군보다 약간 높게 나타나지만 정상적인 범위내에서의 변화를 보였다. immunoglobulin에서 IgA와 IgG 농도는 무처리구에 비교하여 대나무 분말 처리구에서 높게 나타나고, IgA는 처리구 간의 차이가 나타나지 않았지만 IgG농도에서는 대나무 추출물 2%, 3% 처리구가 1% 처리구에 비해 높은 수준을 나타냈다. TNF-${\alpha}$의 경우 무첨가구와 첨가구 사이의 유의적인 차이가 없었지만, 대나무 분말 첨가구에서 interferon-${\gamma}$의 함량은 모든 첨가구에서 무처리 군보다 유의적으로 높게 나타났다. 특히 2%, 3% 처리구가 1%의 처리구 보다도 높은 interferon-${\gamma}$의 함량을 나타내었다. 이는 대나무의 페놀, 또는 플라보노이드 성분에 기초한 높은 항산화력에 의하거나, 또는 대나무에 포함된 돼지 초기 면역반응을 활성화시킬 수 있는 물질에 의한 면역활성 증강에 따른 것으로 사료된다. 결론적으로 대나무 분말의 높은 항산화력은 돼지 면역력 향상에 기여하였으며, 특히 2~3% 대나무 분말 첨가 사료는 돼지 생리활성을 크게 증강시키는 것으로 사료된다.

3개월생 분죽을 이용한 대나무 파티클보드의 특성 (Characteristics of Particleboards Made from Three-months-old Domestics Bamboo (Phyllostachys nigra var henonis Stapf))

  • 본 연구는 요소수지(고형분함량 60%)를 사용, 분죽 3개월생 국산 대나무를 이용하여 대나무 파티클 3층 보드를 제조하고 3년생과 그 보드의 물리 기계적 성질을 비교 검토하였다. 분죽의 수령이 파티클 보드의 비중과 기건 함수율에 미치는 차이는 없었고, 제품의 두께 팽윤율은 함지율 11%부터 KS기준을 만족시켰으며 3개월생 보드가 3년생 보드보다 높은 수치를 나타냈다. 3개월생 파티클 보드의 휨강도가 함지율 3수준(9%, 11%, 13%)에서 모두 3년생보다 훨씬 높게 나타났고, 박기강도도 3개월생 보드가 3년생 보드보다 월등히 높았다. 3개월생, 3년생 보드 모두 KS기준강도보다 월등하였다. 보드의 포름알데히드 방산량값은 모두 E2 등급을 만족시켰다.

죽염의 일반약리작용 (General Pharmacology of Bamboo Salt)

  • This study has been carried out to investigate general pharmacological action of bamboo salt (jukyom) in terms of effects on central nervous system and cardiovascular system in experimental animals. After bamboo salt, crude salt or reagent-grade NaCl were orally administered into male ICR mice with dose of 2.0 g/kg, general behavioural syndromes such as body weight and locomotor activity, spontaneous motor activity, pento-barbital-induced sleeping time, muscle incoordination, electroshock-induced convulsion, body temperature and writhing response caused by 0.6% acetic acid solution were observed. Bamboo salt had no influences in these indices for examinition of effect on central nervous system. Additionally, conscious male Sprague Dawley rats fastened overnight won ere treated with bamboo salt, crude salt or reagent-grade NaCl (2.0 g/kg, p.o.) to examine the effect of these salts cardiovascular system. Systolic, median and diastolic food pressure and heart rate were dertemined using tail cuff indirect method. Treatment with Hydralazine (50 mg/kg, p.o) as a positive control produced the decreases in systolic, median and diastolic blood treasure and an increase in heart rate. whereas no changes were observed in bamboo salt, crude salt and reagent-grade NaCl treated groups. These results strongly suggest that bamboo salt may have no effects on general pharmacology of central nervous systems and cardio-vascular systems.

죽순의 영양성분 및 죽순의 식이섬유가 장내미생물에 미치는 영향 (The Nutritional Composition of Bamboo Shoots and the Effects of its Fiber on Intestinal Microorganisms)

  • This study evaluated the composition two popular species of edible bamboo shoots in Korea (Phyllostachyspubescens and Sinoarundinarianigra) and the effect of their abundant dietary fiber on intestinal microorganisms in healthy young women. The ranges of total moisture, crude protein, crude lipid, crude ash, and dietary fiber content were 87.190.8, 2.943.5, 0.150.39, 0.411.05, and 4.206.15% (wet weight basis), respectively. Moisture and crude ash content increased after heat treatment; however, crude protein, crude lipid, and dietary fiber content were reduced after heating. The major minerals found in bamboo shoots were potassium, phosphorous, sulfur, magnesium, and calcium. In addition, glucose and fructose were abundant free sugars, while asparagine and tyrosine were the most abundant free amino acids. Approximately 70% of the total free fatty acids found in bamboo shoots were linoleic acid and linolenic acid. The ascorbic acid content was 6.60~17.56 mg/100 g (wet weight basis), and one phenolic compound, p-hydroxy benzoic acid, was 0.10.2% (wet weight basis) and detected by HPLC analysis. The intake of bamboo shoots for seven days significantly increased viable cell counts of Lactobacillus spp. and reduced viable cell counts of Bacteriodes spp. in feces (p<0.05). In our data, bamboo shoots may be useful in the food industry as high dietary fiber ingredients.

마늘-죽염 제제가 위장 장애 유발 흰쥐의 항산화 효소활성에 미치는 영향 (Protective Effect of an Aged Garlic-bamboo Salt Mixture on the Rat with the Alcohol-salicylate Induced Gastropathy)

  • Garlic has been known to be effective against the gastrointestinal diseases which can be induced by production of oxygen-derived free radical. It has been shown that bamboo salt is effective on the treatment and prevention of various gastrointestinal disorders. Bamboo salt is a processed salt invented by a Korean, ll-Hoon Kim. It has been reported that garlic and bamboo-salt are useful to the treatment of gastric disorders in Korea. To clarify the protective mechanism of the garlic-bamboo salt mixture, the gas-tropathy was induced in rats with alcohol-salicylate and the activities of the free radical scavenging enzymes were examined. In this study, we found that the garlic-bamboo salt mixture reduced the severity of hemorrhagic lesion in gastric mucosa in the rats. In addition, the activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione peroxidase (GPx), glutathione reductase (GR) were significnatly increased and the total content of GSH was recovered. From those results, we concluded that the protective effect of the garlic-bamboo salt mixture on gastropathy in rats is its ability to recover the level of GSH and to increase the activities of the free radical scavenging enzymes (SOD, GPx, GR).

죽염의 제조과정에 따른 성분함량의 변화 및 타 염류와의 비교 (Elements in a Bamboo Salt and Comparision of Its Elemental Contents with Those in Other Salts)

  • The majority of table salts are bay salts and chemical salts. However, chemical salts are known to have a different composition in biological electrolytes and quality of bay salts are getting worse due to the increasing seawater contamination. These facts may have led to the increasing usage of various health-promoting salts. Bamboo salt was introduced in 1986 as a solution to replace table salts to eliminate those detrimental effects, to promote general health and to treat diseases. Although all bamboo salts from different manufacturers have been used for the same health and medical purposes, each manufacturer utilizes different manufacturing process. The ICP analysis was used to study the changes of elemental contents in a bamboo salt during the manufacturing steps as well as these contents in various bamboo salts and other salts. After the first step, contents of Li and Sr in the bamboo salt were increased in comparison with those in the raw material, bay salt. As the next steps continued, contents of K, Ca and Ba were continuously increased. At the completion of the final step, contents of Mg and P were decreased and those of Cu, Mn and Mo were gradually increased. Bamboo salts contained lower contents of Mg, Al, B, and P, but higher contents of K, Ca, Fe, Cu, Mn, Zn, Li, Ba, Sr and Mo than bay salt.

대나무매트의 격자크기에 따른 보강효과 및 지반 파괴형상 파악을 위한 모형시험 (A strengthening effect based on a grid size of a bamboo-mat and a model-test for the understanding on ground failure.)

  • A method of construction with a basis treatment that uses a latticed bamboo mat puts bamboo's peculiarity and bamboo mat's bending substance to use, and a latticed bamboo mat equally distributes to embankment loading in a basis ground. Therefore it prevents ground destruction by an ill-balanced load and an irregular ground subsidence, and it makes safety system. This investigation make progress a soil box model by a dredged reclamation ground of west and south sea at domestic area, and make a comparative study and analyze the strengthening effect based on a grid size of a bamboo-mat and ground failure that it will use in the field.

해상죽 추출물의 성분 및 생리 활성에 관한 연구 (A study on chemical components and biological activities of bamboo extract)

  • The purposes of this study were to investigate the effects of bamboo (SasacoreanaNakai)extracton chemical characteristics and biological activities. pH ranges of bamboo extract using water and ethanol were between 5.2 and 6.1. The concentration of total phenol compounds using ethanol extract was 0.51%, which was about 2.0 fold higher than that of water extract. The mineral concentrations were order of K, Mg, Ca, and Na, respectively. The nitrite scavenging ratio of bamboo extract using ethanol was 20.4% in vitro. In the case of bamboo extract using water, it was 18.0%. Especially, the maximum nitrite scavenging ratio was obtained at pH 1.5. On the other hand, when pH was increased from 3.0 to 6.0, the nitrite scavenging ratio was decreased from 16.2% to 3.0%. The antioxidant activity of bamboo extract in vitro was increased from 100 to 160% when bamboo extract using ethanol was increased from 10 to $50{\mu}L$. These results suggest that the bamboo extract of Sasa coreana Nakai using ethanol can be used in bioactive and functional material.
