자동차용 유압식 시트댐퍼의 댐핑 메카니즘에 관한 연구 (Study on the Damping Mechanism of an Hydraulic Type Automotive Seat Damper)

  • Typically, the seat of an automotive vehicle generally includes a horizontal seat-cushion portion and a vertical seat-back portion that is operatively connected to the seat-cushion portion. The seat may include a recliner for the reclining of the seat-back portion relative to the seat-cushion portion by the seat occupant. An energy absorber or damper can also be provided for the seat-back portion. Because the recliner is configured to be released at a relatively high speed, and it results in an impact at the end of a folding stroke, the damper needs to dissipate energy as the seat back moves with respect to the seat cushion; therefore, the role of the seat damper in the automotive-seat design is important. In this paper, the mechanism of an hydraulic-type automotive-seat damper is investigated, and the torque characteristic is simulated according to the design-parameter variations such as the orifice area and the working-fluid properties.

주행조건에 따른 자동차 시트 진동특성 연구 (Vibration Analysis of Vehicle Seat Depending on Driving Condition)

  • This paper studies the vibration characteristics of a vehicle seat on several driving conditions. Modal test for a vehicle seat is conducted for the three different boundary conditions: on the rigid jig, BIW and the full vehicle. In driving on various road conditions and speeds, vibration level is measured at several locations including seat mounting and seat-back. The vibration pattern for each driving condition is found where the suspension mode and the 1st bending and torsion modes of the seat make the major contribution on it.

  • Automotive seat covers with olefin film imported from foreign companies exhibit some problems such as low peeling strength and high burning rate. The traditional manufacturing process requires gas flame or direct heating for the laminating step. This paper introduces an alternative solution that replaces the olefin film and flame lamination method in making automotive seat covers or interior fabrics. We adopt a new manufacturing concept that applies a water-based resin coating to develop a coating system. The coating machine was successfully developed and tested. Results are intended to contribute to improving the quality and productivity of automotive seat cover production.

  • In recent years, requests for automotive seat comfort are increasing. An important issue of them is long-term seat comfort. Until now, the study for long-term seat comfort has been studied mainly using driver's questionnaire, changing adrenalin and electromyography. Actually the results and methodologies of them are difficult to apply to seat development and design because of money and time required. In this study, we developed Seating Feel Curve for seat comfort evaluation and a long-term seat comfort evaluation which can be applied to the development of seat comfort using seat support.

노즐 형태의 토출구를 이용한 냉난방 시트 성능에 관한 실험적 연구 (A Experimental Study on the Performance of Climate Control Seats Using the Discharge Port of the Shape of Nozzle)

  • Research for climate control seats is being vigorously pursued because requests for passenger's thermal comfort are increasing. Recently, thermoelectric devices have been applied to automotive seats for both cooling and heating operations. The climate control seats using thermoelectric devices can rapidly control the air temperature passing through the devices and directly affect the thermal comfort of passengers. The performance characteristics of the climate control seats were analyzed by experiments for two different types of a leather covered seat and a mesh applied seat. Experimental results show that the cooling and heating performance for the mesh applied seat by using the discharge port of the shape of nozzle was improved significantly in comparison with that for the leather covered seat. The variation of temperature between the inlet air and the outlet air of the climate control seat for the enhanced mesh applied type was by $-3.5^{\circ}C$ at cooling mode, and was by $15.0^{\circ}C$ at heating mode, after about 30 minutes, respectively. Also, it is possible to provide rapid thermal comfort to passengers sitting on the seat in the vehicle cabin by using the proposed climate control seat.

  • The automotive seat appropriately absorbs the vibrations or shocks transmitted through a vehicle when it is in operation so as to provide a comfortable ride for passengers. In this study, the structural strength and durability of each model were investigated using structural analysis. The natural and critical frequencies at the seat were analyzed through vibration analysis. Through the results of this study on automotive seat frame models, the durability against the load and vibration is shown to be dependent on the configuration of the model.

  • Recliner of automotive seat has the function to control the angle and has a close relation to the safety of seat. Therefore each of parts constituting recliner is important and recliner case to protect these parts from various dynamic loads is also important. As two kinds of recliner cases are designed and analyzed before manufacturing these products, this study result can be contributed to the strength durability.

  • 자동차 시트는 주행시 운전자의 편의와 안전을 제공하는 하나의 부품이다. 최근 그 시트는 의자와 같은 용도 외에 외부의 충격이나 진동으로부터 운전자를 보호하고 편의를 주는 역할을 하고 있다. 자동차의 충돌 안전성 및 내구성과 같이 시트 프레임의 구조적인 기능에 대한 설계가 중요하다. 본 연구에서는 시트 프레임의 구조적인 안전성과 내구성을 높이기 위하여 시트 백 프레임 부분에 환봉을 1개씩 증가하여 시트를 설계하였다. 설계 및 해석 프로그램으로는 CATIA와 ANSYS를 사용하여 본 연구를 수행하였다. 구조해석과 진동해석을 통한 본 연구 결과로서는 Model 4가 타 모델 대비 더 뛰어난 내구성을 가지는 것을 알 수 있었다. 이 결과를 이용함으로서 구조적인 안전성과 내구성을 가진 자동차 시트 프레임 설계를 할 때에 유용한 자료가 될 것이라고 사료되며, 자동차 시트 프레임의 디자인을 융합기술에 접목하여 미적 감각을 나타낼 수 있다.

세라믹 밸브 인서트의 최근 개발동향 (Current design methodology for ceramic valve seat insert)

  • 1) Natural gas engine에서 intake valve와 valve seat insert가 exhuast valve와 valve seat insert보다 마모가 심하다. 2) Ceramic valve seat insert을 금속재료를 사용하는 것이 보다 더욱 효과적이다. 즉 적어도 3배 정도 마모가 적게 일어난다. 3) Ceramic valve와 ceramic valve seat insert로 결합한 경우 valve face 또는 stem 부위에서 응력이 집중되어 파손된다. 따라서 현재의 ceramic valve design methodology로는 ceramic valve은 좋은 결과를 얻을 수 없다. 4) 가장 효과적인 결합은 Tribolloy 800의 hardfacing 합금의 valve와 질화규소의 valve seat insert이다.

자동차 시트 틸팅 각도에 따른 기어박스 마찰소음 영향도 (Tilting Effect of Automotive Seat System on Squeak Noise)

  • The squeak propensity in the gear box of an automotive seat system is investigated analytically. The mating parts in the gear box are the lead screw and the nut, where the friction stresses are exerted on the thread of the screw. The lead screw is modeled as a circular beam allowing the bending and torsional vibrations. In the system, the lead screw converts rotating to translating motion so that it moves the automotive seat slightly tilted on the floor. The tilting angle is considered one major parameter in this study. Therefore, the equations of motion associated with the non-conservative friction force are derived with the inclusion of the tilting angle. It is found that the squeak noise corresponds to the several bending modes of the lead screw and its propensity is increased by the tilting angle of the seat.
