  • Since the manufacturing machines containing information processing capacity by development of ME technology are developed and distributed from the advanced nations, manufacturing automation with manufacturing method which keeps flexibility and productivity is supplied broadly. An introduction of manufacturing automation technology is necessary to solve difficult domestic industry environment due to international competitiveness weakness of products. The aim of this is to search for the successful factors of the manufacturing business which uses too much technology of manufacturing automation and to observe the difference of the successful factors which influence to introduction performance according to the introduction type of automation technology and the strategic type through the empirical analysis.

  • The productivity is the one of the primary elements to evaluate the new systems performance for building construction along with the economic efficiency, the safety, and the quality improvement. At present the on-site construction automation systems(we will call it as Construction Factory or CF hereafter) is under the development by research group for construction automation of high-rise building. The system includes many sub-systems such as a robotic crane, a construction factory, bolting robots, a building material management system using RFID and so on. In this study we discuss and propose the method to evaluate for these hybrid on-site automation system fundamentally. In future we devise a framework of evaluation modules for the on-site building automation system on the basis of this discuss.

  • In this study, an automation assembly jig for the automation assembly process for the ventilation grille that is used in the interior of a car Is developed. As the method that can do the automation assembly for the ventilation grille, a simple jig and air cylinder have been applied. And a solenoid valve, a filter regulator, and on-off switch have been used in controlling the system. Moreover, the timer is attached to the equipment so that a worker may control the assembly time, as fitting the quantity on demand of production. Actually with executing the assembly test productivity and performance of assembly have been verified. In case of the automation assembly work for a ventilation grille is compared to the manual work. The optimum working speed has been identified to make the process twice or three times better.

Application of advanced spectral-ratio radon background correction in the UAV-borne gamma-ray spectrometry

  • The influence of the atmospheric radon background on the airborne gamma spectrum can seriously affect researchers' judgement of ground radiation information. However, due to load and endurance, unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)-borne gamma-ray spectrometry is difficulty installing upward-looking detectors to monitor atmospheric radon background. In this paper, an advanced spectral-ratio method was used to correct the atmospheric radon background for a UAV-borne gamma-ray spectrometry in Inner Mongolia, China. By correcting atmospheric radon background, the ratio of the average count rate of U window in the anomalous radon zone (S5) to that in other survey zone decreased from 1.91 to 1.03, and the average uranium content in S5 decreased from 4.65 mg/kg to 3.37 mg/kg. The results show that the advanced spectral-ratio method efficiently eliminated the influence of the atmospheric radon background on the UAV-borne gamma-ray spectrometry to accurately obtain ground radiation information in uranium exploration. It can also be used for uranium tailings monitoring, and environmental radiation background surveys.

  • Typically, robot system configured by articulated robot manipulator with 1 DOF transfer unit is being applied in automotive manufacturing automation process. Especially, 1 DOF transfer unit is necessary to extend workspace of robot manipulator. In this configuration, because transfer unit works only one direction, robot manipulator only works in one side in case of car body painting or sealing automation process. it is necessary three robot manipulator system at least. In this paper, in order to robot manipulator works effectively in car body sealing automation application, we are suggested omni-directional manipulator system and conducted studying on redundancy resolution method to solve manipulability-optimal problem.

  • Existing construction industry is composed of several processes with various characteristics. The tendency of current construction industry is getting complicated and diversified; it has limitation to solve problems through existing processes. As a problem-solving method, BIM (Building Information Modeling), environment to manage building life cycle from design and construction to management, is being suggested. Currently, BIM is only focused on technology development by engineers, and the automation of architectural theories is insufficiency except architectural design modeling. Therefore, this research aims to back up theses drawbacks through intellectual curtain wall arrangement by using musical proportions. In order to apply to construction automation, analysised of musical proportions method are performed. The BPMN-based Process Map is listed to develop IDM for the application to BIM Software.

  • Image thresholding techniques introducing spatial information are widely used image segmentation. Some methods are used to calculate the optimal threshold by building a specific histogram with different parameters, such as gray value of pixel, average gray value and gradient-magnitude, etc. However, these methods still have some limitations. In this paper, an entropic thresholding method based on Gabor histogram (a new 2D histogram constructed by using Gabor filter) is applied to image segmentation, which can distinguish foreground/background, edge and noise of image effectively. Comparing with some methods, including 2D-KSW, GLSC-KSW, 2D-D-KSW and GLGM-KSW, the proposed method, tested on 10 realistic images for segmentation, presents a higher effectiveness and robustness.

  • New design automation method of R/C beam based on the finite element method and the nonlinear truss model approach has been presented. The proposed method can substitute inaccurate existing method, which has limitation in its application, provide accurate and efficient design results for any type of R/C beam.

A Novel Filtering Method Based on a Nonlinear Tracking Differentiator for the Speed Measurement of Direct-drive Permanent Magnet Traction Machines

  • This paper presents a novel filtering method for speed measurements to improve the low-speed performance of the direct-drive permanent magnet traction machines for elevators. Based on the theory of nonlinear tracking differentiator (NTD), this method, which can act as a high performance filter of a raw speed signal, obtains a more accurate speed feedback signal when applying a low-resolution encoder. In addition, it can relieve the interference caused by the position derivative for speed sampling. By analyzing the frequency response of the NTD, the influence of its parameters on the performance of the speed filtering is investigated. Compared with different types of low-pass filters, the proposed method shows a shorter time delay and a stronger ability in terms of noise suppression when the parameters are selected carefully. In addition, when using the measured speed signal through a nonlinear tracking differentiator as the feedback of the system, the motor runs more steadily at low speeds. As a result, the riding comfort of a direct-drive elevator can be improved. The feasibility of the proposed strategy was verified on an 11.7kW elevator traction machine using a commercial inverter.
