  • In this study, science teachers' perception and attitude toward nanotechnology are examined through questionnaires gathered from 134 secondary science teachers. As a result, the study shows that science teachers have high perceptiveness. However, they do not understand specific information on nanotechnology correctly. Science teachers have positive attitudes toward nanotechnology and they have perceived risks of nanotechnology as well as benefits of nanotechnology. Science teachers show positive attitudes toward the application of nanotechnology, whereas they show negative attitudes toward personal information chip and nano-taste enhancer. Science teachers are exposed to nanotechnology via various sources such as TV and internet, whereas teachers rarely get information on nanotechnology-related concepts in textbooks and teaching resources. Science teachers have perceived many textbooks do not introduce enough nanotechnology-related concepts. Many teachers try to explain the nanotechnology when textbooks include nanotechnology-related concepts, whereas quite a few of teachers do not introduce the nanotechnology-related concepts in class.

  • As is the case with South Korea, if the authority for decision making on curricula is concentrated on the state level, the perspective of the understanding on the curricula could be said to be essential. And, such an understanding on the curricula can be important not only to the theorist of curricula but also the teachers in educational institutions. Also, there have been a number of studies to examine the awareness of the teachers on education reform. However, the studies on the resistance factor was mainly focused on the relationships with traits of individuals, covering factors such as their habits, maturity, character, and age, etc. But, it was difficult to find consistency in the results of these studies. Therefore, in this study, the researcher selected the teachers as the key factor of the execution of the curricula and examined the awareness of the teachers on education resistance and the negative views thereupon in the relationship between the knowledge, attitude, skills, and education execution, with a view to find another meaning. The subjects of this study were selected among the teachers in middle or high schools located in Gangnam, Songpa, and Joonggu districts of Seoul. The survey was conducted online with 15 institutions over three weeks from April 13 to 30, 2018. The data gathered were analyzed using SPSS 20.0 and AMOS 20.0, in order to validate the hypotheses through frequency analysis, confidence analysis, factor analysis, structural equation model, and sobel-test. The result of the analyses showed that the factors that affected execution of curricula were the skill system, knowledge system, and attitude of the teachers, in that order, with a positively significant influence. And, significant differences were identified between the factors depending on high or low resistance among teachers.

  • This study aimed to investigate the factors influencing the intentions of elementary school teachers to use artificial intelligence (AI) in mathematics lessons and to identify the essential prerequisites for the effective implementation of AI in mathematics education. To achieve this purpose, we examined the structural relationship between elementary school teachers' TPACK(Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge) and the TAM(Technology Acceptance Model) using structural equation model. The findings of the study indicated that elementary school teachers' TPACK regarding the use of AI in mathematics instruction had a direct and significant impact on their perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness of AI. In other words, when teachers possessed a higher level of TPACK competency in utilizing AI in mathematics classes, they found it easier to incorporate AI technology and recognized it as a valuable tool to enhance students' mathematics learning experience. In addition, perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness directly influenced the attitudes of elementary school teachers towards the integration of AI in mathematics education. When teachers perceived AI as easy to use in their mathematics lessons, they were more likely to recognize its usefulness and develop a positive attitude towards its application in the classroom. Perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, and attitude towards AI integration in mathematics classes had a direct impact on the intentions of elementary school teachers to use AI in their mathematics instruction. As teachers perceived AI as easy to use, valuable, and developed a positive attitude towards its incorporation, their intention to utilize AI in mathematics education increased. In conclusion, this study shed light on the factors influencing elementary school teachers' intentions to use AI in mathematics classes. It revealed that teachers' TPACK plays a crucial role in facilitating the integration of AI in mathematics education. Additionally, the study emphasized the significance of enhancing teachers' awareness of the advantages and convenience of using AI in mathematics instruction to foster positive attitudes and intentions towards its implementation. By understanding these factors, educational stakeholders can develop strategies to effectively promote the utilization of AI in mathematics education, ultimately enhancing students' learning outcomes.

  • Comparative studies using large-scale data such as TIMSS, PIRLS, and PISA inform us of the effectiveness of each educational system. Even though samples in the large-scale studies were representative, admitting potential discrepancy when applying the findings of the large-scale studies to local educational system is still needed. This study examines the structural relationship among students' attitude towards science, learning support from teachers, school life, and science academic achievement with both large-scale data and local comparative study data utilizing same variables. Responses on the TIMSS 2019 of 5,554 Korean seventh-grade students and National Assessment of Educational Achievement (NAEA) 2019 of 6,365 third-grade middle school students were used. The results indicate that: a) school life did not affect the science achievements in both data. However, in NAEA 2019, students' attitude mediated the relationship between school life and science achievement; b) learning support from teachers had a significant impact on TIMSS science achievements, and also had positive effect on achievement through students' attitude in TIMSS. On the other hand, learning support had a positive effect on achievement only when student's attitude mediated the relationship in NAEA; c) students 'attitude toward science had positive effect on science achievement on both data; d) the impact of gender was different on school life, academic achievement, students 'attitude towards science, and learning support from teachers on both data; and e) the impact of the number of books differed as well. There were differences in results between the international and domestic research, which inform us that we need to pay attention when interpreting the domestic environment through the results of international research.

  • The purpose of this study was to find out high school students' perception on psychologicallearning environment generated by science teachers and their attitude change related to science. The subjectsconsisted of 539 freshmen in a boys' high school pre-applied of common school group in S city. This study wasconducted with students' perception survey and classification of teachers' features according to it. The surveyabout science-related attitude was also made in early 1st semester and 2nd semester, and the students showingthe great attitude change related to science were interviewed. The results of this study revealed that statistically, students had a more positive perception on female teachers than on male ones and that according to their teachers, there were clear different in the psychological learning environment perceived by students. As for the relation of teachers' features and students' attitude change, it showed the negative effect only when the teacher was incharge of only one class, but in most of the cases, there was no meaningful correlation. The semi-structuredinterview with students with great attitude change related to science indicated that the main cause of the changewas the achievement they made in class. The interview showed that the change related to science happenedunder the indirect influence of teachers rather than direct influence. Furthermore, students wanted scienceteachers to meet the science class possessing various instruction behaviors and support behaviors. Therefore, science teachers playing an important role in students' choice of career should make efforts to realize thelearner-centered curriculum and change students' science-related attitude into a positive direction.
