The purpose of this study was to analyze the affecting factors on male salary workers' level of retirement planning. The focus was on the causal effects on salary workers' attitude toward retirement and their level of retirement planning. The major findings were as follows.: First, the salary worker's attitude toward retirement was neutral, neither positive nor negative, and they estimated their level of retirement planning relatively high. Second, the major factors affecting on attitude toward retirement were salary workers' age, their current economic status, and future perspectives for the post-retirement life. Third, the major affecting factors on level of retirement planning were salary workers' age, health status, and level of self-esteem, household net asset, savings and investment for elderly life, and attitude toward retirement. forth, the causal effects on the level of retirement planning was verified, and attitude toward retirement had direct effect as well as indirect effect on the level of retirement planning. From the findings, it can be concluded that the salary workers' attitude toward retirement played a important role in the process of retirement planning.
The purposes of this study were to identify the overall levels of consumer problem, consumer competencies and purchase pattern of urban low-income consumers and to examine the factors affecting the consumer problem and the subareas-market environment problem(MEP) and transaction relation problem(TRP). The related factors, that is, independent variables were competencies-related factors(consumption-oriented attitude, attitude on consumerism, consumer knowledge), purchase pattern-related factors (search pattern, credit pattern, peddler pattern) and socio-demorgraphic factors(age, educational level, family size). For this purpose, a survey was conducted by interview using questionaires on 198 homemakers that lived in the poor areas of Seoul. Statistics used for data analysis were Frequency Distribution, Percentile, Mean, Pearson's Correlation, One-way ANOVA, Scheffe-test, Breakdown and Multiple Classification Analysis. Major findings were as follows: 1) In the level of consum r problem were in the middle level and the level of MEP were higher than that of TRP. The attitude on consumption-orientation was so negative, while attitude on consumerism was positive. The level of consumer knowledge was in the middle level. The urban low-income consumers searched a little and depended on credit and peddler in the low level. 2) Consumer problem perceived by urban low-income consumers differed significantly according to attitude on consumerism, credit pattern, monthly charge of peddler purchase. The MEP depended on attitude on consumerism and monthly charge of peddler purchase, and the TRP was affected by credit pattern and attitude on consumerism. Resulting from MCA, the most influencial variable was attitude on consumerism and credit pattern in the consumer problem, and attitude on consumerism in the MEP, and credit pattenr in the TRP.
This study examined sex-role attitude, conjugal status level and status satisfaction of rural married women as a part of study on problem diagnosis and status enhancement of Korean rural women. The subjects were 919 married farming women. Data were analyzed by frequencies, percentages, mean, standard deviation, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe multiple range test, and stepwise multiple regression analysis. The major findings were as follows : 1) Rural womens sex-role attitude were conservative attitude. 66.7% of them conceived that their husband had more conservative attitude than them. Variables as age, education level, and farming work type were significant related with sex-role attitude. 2) Conjugal status level (housework sharing, domestic decision-making, agriculture decision-making, property rights) of rural women were low and not equal. It was affected by sex-role attitude, the proportion of their work to family farming work, similar/different type of sex-role attitude of couples, and their farming work type. 3) Their status satisfaction were low and affected by factors such as similar/different type of sex-role attitude of couples, conjugal status level, sex-role attitude, their farming work type, and education level.
The purpose of this study is to measure the home helpers' knowledge about facts on aging and attitude toward the elderly in Korea, and to find out the variables that may influence their attitude. Four hundred and thirty eight home helpers working in a home help agency were given the questionnaire containing the Kyung San Facts on Aging Quiz to measure the level of knowledge about aging and Yoon (1988)'s scale to find the direction of attitude toward the elderly. The results of this study are analyzed as follows: (1) The home helpers' level of knowledge about aging was 59.1%, which was lower than nurses' level (65.0%) and social workers' level (65.3%). And the paid home helpers' level of knowledge about aging was 61.2%, which was significantly different from the unpaid home helpers' level (57.0%). (2) Using 5 points scale, mean of home helpers' attitude toward the elderly was 2.56 (51.2%), which was different from nurses' attitude (40.6%) and social workers' attitude (62.0%). And the paid home helpers' attitude toward the elderly's action (29.9%) was significantly different from the unpaid home helpers' attitude (32.6%). (3) Using multiple regression analysis, the home helpers' levels of knowledge about aging was the most significant predictor to explain the home helpers' attitude toward the elderly. The other variables that are also statistically significant predictors of the home helpers' attitude were sex, voluntary experience for the elderly, age, city size, and personal experience with the elderly. Especially the significant predictors to explain the paid home helpers' attitude were their levels of knowledge about aging and city size. On the other hand, the significant predictors to explain the unpaid home helpers' attitude were sex and age. Based on the research results, implications for practice and future research are discussed, and education methods for making home helpers' attitude toward the elderly more positive are also suggested.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between wive's sex-role attitude and their marital satisfaction for understanding a part of marital relations. For this purpose, a questionnaire was constructed and administrated to 626 married women. the sex role attitude scale was a modified version of the sex-role attitude scale constructed by Osmond and Martin, and the marital satisfaction scale was developed basing upon the scales used by Terman and Hayes & Stinnett. The result of this study are summarized as follows; The majority of wives have relatively modem attitude toward their sex role in the extra familial roles. Wives have relatively modem attitude toward their sex role when the couples are younger, more educated, on a higher income level and working or a job (especially or a professional job). Wife's education level, husband's education level and family income make significant difference in their marital satisfaction specifically, a wife would be relatively more satisfied when she has more education and the family income level is higher. It is founded that wives sex role attitude has significant relationship with their marital satisfaction. A wife tends to be more satisfied when she has a traditional sex role attitude . A professional wife who has a traditional attitude shows most satisfaction and one who has a modern attitude and not having a job tends to be most dissatisfied with her marriage. It is also founded that a wife who has traditional attitude and received college education are above shows most satisfaction while the wife who has modern attitude and received high school education or below shows most dissatisfaction with their marriage lives.
Objectives: This study was to get database of health service for smoking preventing through investigating the smoking status of students and the knowledge, attitude on smoking. Methods: The subjects were consisted of 463 students who were currently enrolled in 1, 2 and 3 grade of 6 high schools located in Ulsan-city. The instruments for this study were smoking knowledge and smoking attitude questionnaire(each 20 items) developed by WHO. Results: Among the students 25.8% answered they had the experience of smoking. The experience of smoking related to general characteristics were showed significantly different according to opposite sex friends. Student's knowledge level about smoking prevention is high score to mean get obtain 0.65 out of 1. Smoking prevention knowledge level related to highest score(0.82) were have affect on pregnancy and an unborn child. Smoking prevention knowledge level related to low score(0.19) were get rid of stress. Therefore smoking prevention knowledge high level is non smoker rather than smoker. Student's attitude level about smoking prevention is high score to mean get obtain 2.0 out of 3. Smoking prevention attitude level related to highest score(2.5) were no smoking allowed public area and put a stop smoking to friends. Therefore smoking prevention attitude high level is non smoker rather than smoker. Conclusion: It follows from this study that education for smoking prevention should be continued from lower grade student and sustaining teaching for refusal skill against smoking is needed.
The purpose of this study are (1) to examine the reality of contacting with fashion catalogues, (2) to examine the consumer's attitude towards fashion catalogues, (3) to examine the correlation between consumer's attitude towards fathion catalogue by sex and age. It was found that, concerning frequency of contacting with fashion catalogues, women contact with them more frequently than men, and lower ages than higher ages. Also, it was shown that, both man and woman with merchandise catalogues, lower ages with merchant catalogues, and higher ages with mail order catalogues. With regard to methods of contacting with catalogue, it was found that men come to contact mainly through mail, women through the displayed goods in the sales shops, lower ages through the displayed goods in the sales shops and higher ages through mail. Concerning the consumer's attitude towards fashion catalogues, meaningful difference was shown in interesting level, attention level, information offering level and information utilizing level by sex. The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationships between the attitude and performance for the etiquette of vocational high school girls. The main results were as follows: 1) The effective factor of their attitude for the etiquette is the communication level among family members. 2) There is static correlations between their attitude and performance for the etiquette. 3) In order to increase the level of their performance for the etiquette, we should raise the level of their attitude for the etiquette through harmonious communication among family members.
The objectives of this study were (1) to find out if consumer attitude variables, that is, attitude on post-industrial age consumer value, attitude on consumerism, have significant effects on consumer role performance, (2) to find out if socio-demographic variables, that is, age, educational level, family income, social status, have significant effects on consumer role performance, (3) to examine the independent influences of variables related to each subarea consumer role performance. Major findings were as follows;1) consumer role performance and each subarea consumer role performance differed significantly according to all the variables related to consumer attitude. 2) All the socio-demographic variables had significant effects on consumer role performance. 3) Resulting from multiple regression analysis, consumer role performance and all the subarea consumer role performance had the positive liner relationships with the variables such as attitude on post-industrial age consumer value, attitude on consumerism, educational level, The most influencial variable was attitude on post-industrial age consumer value, and in turn educational level and attitude on consumerism.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify influences of child-rearing attitude and parent-school age communication on self-efficacy of 5th and 6th graders. Methods: Data were collected using questionnaires from 460 5th and 6th graders in S city. The data were analyzed using SPSS WIN program. Results: There were significant differences in child-rearing attitude according to gender, mother's level of education, perceived atmosphere and religion. Self-efficacy was significantly correlated with school record, family income, mother's level of education, father's level of education, and perceived atmosphere. There were significant differences in communication with father according to father's level of education, and perceived atmosphere. Communication with mother was significantly correlated with father's level of education, mother's level of education and perceived atmosphere. The relative influence toward the children's self-efficacy shown in the order of importance was as follows; child-rearing attitude, school record, communication with mother, communication with father, father's level of education, family income. Conclusion: From the study, self-efficacy appears to be influenced by multiple factors such as child-rearing attitude, school record, communication with mother, communication with father, father's level of education, and family income.
