The design of transmitting antenna on the optical satelite communication up-link in rain (광위성 통신시 업링크에서 강우에 따른 송신 안테나 설계)

  • Today's wireless communication needs the super-high speed for picture transmission as well as voice. The optical communication with the very wide bandwidth is suitable for this demand. To fulfill the optical wireless communication, however, the atmospheric attenuation in rainy weather condition must be overcome. In the optical satellite up-link communication between geo-satellite and earth station, the factors of attenuation are turbulence, pointing error, scattering, and so on. The most serious factor for these is the scattering by rain. Under the weather conditiion of rain and cloud, in this paper, the atmospheic attenuation which affects the optical satellite up-link communication was considered, and the optimum idameter of the optical satellite transmitting antenna in the earth station versus elevation angles, data rates and rainfall rates was presented.

  • A free space transmission method using standard gain horn antennas in the frequency range from 9.0 to 10.5GHz is applied to determine the dielectric properties of grain such as rough rice, brown rife and barley. The dielectric constant and loss factor, which depend on the moisture content of the wetted grain are obtained from the measured attenuation and phase shift by vector network analyzer. The effect of density fluctuation, which is an important parameter governing the dielectric properties of grain, on the dielectric constant and loss factor is presented. A new density-independent model in terms of measured attenuation and moisture density is proposed for reducing the effects of density fluctuation on the moisture content measurement.

  • A free space transmission method using standard gain horn antennas in the frequency range from 9.0 to 10.5GHz is applied to determine the dielectric properties of grain such as rough rice ,brown rice and barley. The dielectric constant and loss factor, which depend on the moisture content of the wetted grain are obtained from the measured attenuation and phase shift by vector network analyzer. The moisture content of grain varied from 11 to 25% based on this wetted condition. The measured values of dielectric constants as a function of moisture density are compared with values of those obtained using he predicted model for estimating dielectric constants of grain. The effect of density fluctuation, high is an important parameter governing the dielectric properties of grain, on the dielectric constant and loss factor is presented. A new density-independent model in terms of measured attenuation an moisture density is proposed of reducing the effects of density fluctuation on the moisture content measurement.

  • This paper presents the results of measured permittivity of PCB sheet material in the frequency range of 0.1 ~ 2[㎓] and temperature range of 25~ 85[>$^{\circ}C$]. Microstrip lines with different physical length are implemented to measure the attenuation and phase shift of the signals through these lines. The loss factor of glass-epoxy and teflon could by calculated with the measured dielectric constant and the attenuation. From the experiment, the glass-epoxy was more influenced by temperature and frequency than teflon. The average dielectric constants of glass-epoxy and teflon within the measured frequency range are 4.48 and 2.18, respectively.

  • The common image processing method treat the image as the array of pixels, and every pixel with its eight neighbors who directly around it form a square neighbor domain, sometimes may be more than that such as $5{\times}5$, or $7{\times}7$, and then adopt the convolution and template for every possible pixel value and then divide a attenuation factor, restrict the result in the area between 0 and 255, while the original and processed value record respectively. During the whole procedure, the result sole exist and represent the processing without changing the original pixel.

Comparative Study on Separation Method of Attenuation Quality Factor (감쇠상수 분리방법의 비교 분석)

  • Using analytical method, intrinsic absorption and scattering attenuation was lately separated from total quality factor $(Q^{-1}_t)$ on the seismic data of Korean Peninsula. However, we should use numerical method rather than the analytical method to consider depth dependent structure of scattering. The direct simulation Monte Carlo (DSMC) method, as a kind of the numerical method, is good option due to its extended availability from 1 to 3-dimensional model; but there is few study to use it. In this paper, we introduced the analytical method and the DSMC method, and compared the results of the two analysis applied to the isotropic scattering model. While the scattering attenuation coefficients $(\eta_s)$ are identical, the intrinsic absorption coefficients $(\eta_i)$ for the analytical method are larger than those for DSMC method and have large errors. In addition, the $(Q^{-1}_t)$ by the previous studies show closer to DSMC method than analytical method.

  • This paper describes a design method of LCL filter for grid-connected three-phase PWM inverter. First, by analyzing the ripple component of phase voltages and currents according to the PWM pattern of grid-connected three-phase inverter, the RMS value of the current ripple can be calculated. Then based on the analysis, the current THD in the inverter-side can be defined. After that by analyzing the dependency between the current THD of the system and the current ripple attenuation, the parameter of LCL filter can be designed. Finally, the described LCL filter design method is verified by showing a good agreement between the target current $THD_g$ and the actual one through the simulation and experiment.

  • In general, attenuation at frequencies over 20GHz is mainly due to absorption by satmospheric gases, rain, and snow. Among this factors rain become an important limiting factor. Rain attenuation is highly influenced by rainfall-intensity and it varies over time and space. Thus it is requeired to obtain spatial and temporal data of rainfall-intensity for precise prediction of rainfall attenuation. In this paper, rainfall intensity of thiry-two measurement sites in South Korea excluding JeiJdo Islands over recent ten years is obtained and the regional relation between rainfall-intensity and percent of time is analyzed. Also we present the new method about rainfall-intensity cumulative distribution.

  • This paper proposes a design method of LCL-filter for a grid-connected three-phase inverter using a discontinuous PWM (DPWM) method. When using a DPWM method, many harmonic voltages are generated in the inverter output compared to a continuous PWM (CPWM) method. Therefore, an optimized grid-connected filter design is required for a DPWM method. The proposed design method provides generalized formula to design accurate LCL-filter without trial and error procedures. An inverter side inductance is designed by analyzing the current ripple injected to the grid. The Optimized parameters of LCL-filter can be designed by analyzing the total harmonic distortion (THD) and the ripple attenuation factor of the output current. The proposed LCL filter design method is demonstrated by simulation and experimental results.
