Recently due to the rapid development of speech synthesis based on the corpora, the performance of TTS systems, which convert text into speech through synthesis, has enhanced, and they are applied in various fields. However, the procedure for objective assessment of the performance of systems is not well established in Korea. The establishment of the procedure for objective assessment of the performance of systems is essential for the assessment of development systems for the developers and as the standard for choosing the suitable systems for the users. In this paper we will report on the results of the basic research for the establishment of the systematic standard for the procedure of objective assessment of the performance of Korean TTS systems with reference to the various attempts for this project in Korea and other countries.

For the balanced realization of these values of mathematical culture, we need to innovate mathematics classrooms, for which we need to make use of portfolio assessment. First, portfolio assessment can be regarded as a method of synthesizing a variety of resources for systematic evaluation. Second, portfolio assessment can be used as a tool of building up learners' positive attitude toward mathematics, by which we can identify the latent possibility of learners' development and help them develop confidence in mathematics. Third, portfolio assessment can play an important role as a tool for exploring the method of teaching and learning in which learners recognize the value of mathematics and are interested in mathematical activities, as we have seen in the report on the Gulliver's Travels Project.

Fire needling is an acupuncture procedure involving the swift pricking of diseased part with a red hot needle. The purpose of the present study is to report the therapeutic effect of acupuncture and fire needling combined therapy on the frozen shoulder patients. Each of patient received combined therapy of acupuncture and fire needling. Fire needling was carried out 2 or 3 times a week. Shoulder pain was evaluated by measuring visual analoge scale (VAS), range of movement (ROM), and global assessment and grade. All of the patinets treated with combined therapy exhibited decreasing of VAS and grade, increasing of ROM and global assessment.

Although it has taken some time to apply the accreditation system in Korea, most programs have a very difficult time in assessing program outcomes, one of the most important standards in accreditation. The major purpose of this work is to suggest a method, so called course embedded assessment, by which to assess a course that includes several program outcomes. The course was evaluated based on student performance on each exam taken in the course as well as a report submitted by the students. The course embedded assessment provides not only an effective tool by which to assess course-set program outcomes, but also allow the instructor to follow up and/or modify the course material to be offered in next semester.

In this case report, we investigated the effects of robot-assisted gait therapy in a chronic stroke patient using motor assessment and gait analysis. A patient who suffered from the right hemiparesis following the left corona radiata and basal ganglia infarction received 30 minutes of robot-assisted gait therapy, 3 times a week for 4 weeks. Outcome was measured using Motoricity index(MI), Fugl-Meyer assessment(FMA), modified motor assessment scale(MMAS), isometric torque, body tissue composition, 10-meter gait speed and gait analysis. After robot-assisted gait therapy, the patient showed improvement in motor functions measured by MI, FMA, MMAS, isometric torque, skeletal muscle mass, 10-meter gait speed. In gait analysis, cadence, single support time, double support time, step length, walking speed improvement in after robot-assisted gait therapy. The results of this study showed that robot-assisted gait therapy is considered to facilitate locomotor recovery of the chronic hemiparetic stroke patient.

Application of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for assessment of pulmonary disease has been limited, due to susceptibility to cardiac pulsation, respiratory motion, and inhomogeneity of the magnetic field of the lung. With technical advances of MRI and unmet clinical needs for more accurate diagnosis and assessment of the disease, however, the use of MRI for evaluation of the lung has broadened. Herein, we present a case of pneumonic-type lung adenocarcinoma in a patient with history of anaphylactic shock to iodinated contrast medium, in which MRI played a critical role for targeted lung biopsy and cancer staging. Through this paper, we would like to report potential value of MRI in assessment of lung cancer.

Objectives: Eating disorders are serious mental illnesses characterized by disturbances in eating behaviors with related thoughts and emotions. The objective of this study was to report a patient with an eating disorder who was treated using a combination of Korean medicine psychotherapy and traditional Korean medicine. Methods: Psychological assessment scales, including Beck Depression Inventory, Beck Anxiety Inventory, Bulimia Test, and Eating Attitudes Test-26, were used to evaluate the severity of the patient's psychological and behavioral symptoms. The patient underwent treatment with Korean medicine psychotherapy and traditional Korean medical therapies to alleviate both physical and psychological discomfort. Results: Following treatment, the patient's eating disorder symptoms were reduced with improvements in psychological assessment scales. Conclusions: This study demonstrated that treating a patient with an eating disorder using Korean medicine psychotherapy and traditional Korean medical treatments could lead to improvements in both eating disorder symptoms and psychological assessment outcomes.

The side effects of using drugs can greatly threaten the health of the public. The reality is that there are very few reports of current side effects. This can be activated by linking adverse drug reactions reporting to the Drug Utilization Review (DUR) currently used by pharmacies. A study of the U.S. medication management system, where drug use assessment is activated, can find ways to activate adverse drug reactions reporting. In 'Pharm IT 3000', which is used as a medication management program in pharmacies, we examined how to enable reporting of adverse drug reactions. The literature study and research on actual program operation have found a convenient way to report side effects by linking the Pharm IT 3000 prescription preparation assessment to the item.

Glossopharyngeal neuralgia is a skin-sensitive condition/disease that causes severe pain in the facial area predominantly innervated by the glossopharyngeal nerve. A 51-year-old man diagnosed with glossopharyngeal neuralgia who was hospitalized with severe pain that limited his daily life activities. From November 18, 2021, to March 4, 2022, he received inpatient (10 days) and outpatient treatment (35 times) using acupuncture, pharmacopuncture, and herbal medicine. His symptoms were assessed using the Numerical Rating Scale, Neuropathic Pain Scale, and the Self-report Leeds Assessment of Neuropathic Symptom and Signs. The pain reduced after 4 days of initiating Korean medicine treatment and was completely resolved within 4 months of treatment (Numerical Rating Scale score 4 to 0; Neuropathic Pain Scale score 49 to 8; Self-report Leeds Assessment of Neuropathic Symptoms and Signs score 18 to 0). Korean medicine treatment could be an option for treating patients with neuropathy who rely on analgesics.

Since 2015, the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service (HIRA) has performed annual qualitative assessments of asthma management provided by all medical institutions that care for asthma patients in Korea. According to the third report of qualitative assessment of asthma management in 2017, the assessment appears to have contributed to improving the quality of asthma care provided by medical institutions, especially primary clinics. However, there is still a gap between the ideal goals of asthma management and actual health care policies/regulations in real clinical settings, which leads to the state of standstill with respect to the quality of asthma management despite considerable efforts such as the qualitative assessment of asthma management by national agencies such as the HIRA. At this point, a harmonized approach is needed to raise the level of asthma management among several components including medical policies, efforts of academic associations such as education and distribution of the guideline for management, and reliable financial support by the government.
