  • Recently, many researchers are studying a high-strength concrete, composite materials and composite structures to build structures more economic and stable all over the world. For instance, there is CFTA(Concrete Filled and Tied Steel Tubular Arch) girder that applies an arch structure and a pre-stressed structure to CFT(Concrete Filled Steel Tubular) Structure to maximize the efficiency of structure and economic. In this study, linear-elastic behavior analysis of CFTA gider filled with high-strength concrete was performed by using ABAQUS 6.5-1 and also the result was analyzed.

Seismic fragility evaluation of arch concrete dams through nonlinear incremental analysis using smeared crack model

  • In the present study, a methodology for developing fragilities of arch concrete dams to assess their performance against seismic hazards is introduced. Firstly, the probability risk and fragility curves are presented, followed by implementation and representation of the way this method is used. Amirkabir arch concrete dam was subjected to non-linear dynamic analyses. A modified three dimensional rotating smeared crack model was used to take the nonlinear behavior of mass concrete into account. The proposed model considers major characteristics of mass concrete. These characteristics are pre-softening behavior, softening initiation criteria, fracture energy conservation, suitable damping mechanism and strain rate effect. In the present analysis, complete fluid-structure interaction is included to account for appropriate fluid compressibility and absorptive reservoir boundary conditions. In this study, the Amirkabir arch concrete dam is subjected to a set of 8 three-component earthquakes each scaled to 10 increasing intensity levels. Using proposed nonlinear smeared crack model, nonlinear analysis is performed where the structure is subjected to a large set of scaled and un-scaled ground motions and the maximum responses are extracted for each one and plotted. Based on the results, fragility curves were plotted according to various and possible damages indexes. Discrete damage probabilities were calculated using statistical methods for each considered performance level and incremental nonlinear analysis. Then, fragility curves were constructed based on the lognormal distribution assumption. Two damage indexes were introduced and compared to one another. The results indicate that the dam has a proper stability under earthquake conditions at MCE level. Moreover, displacement damages index is more conservative and impractical in the fragility analysis than tensional damage index.

  • 본 연구에서는 이산계열 대공간구조물의 크기최적화에 따른 후 좌굴거동의 변화에 대하여 조사하고 그 결과를 기술하였다. 본 연구에서는 35개의 부재를 가지는 얕은 아치형 2차원 공간트러스 구조물을 이용하여 연구를 수행하였다. 먼저 트러스의 최적의 부재 크기 패턴을 조사하기 위하여 수학적 프로그래밍 기법을 도입하였다. 이때 최소화해야하는 트러스의 전체 부재의 중량을 목적함수로 이용하고 하중이 가해지는 절점에서 발생하는 변위 값과 각 부재에서 발생하는 응력 값을 허용치 이하로 제한하는 제약조건으로 사용하였다. 크기최적화에서 도출된 트러스 구조물의 후좌굴 거동은 통합 비선형해석기법을 이용하여 조사 분석하였다. 본 연구에서 제시한 결과는 이산계열 대공간구조물의 설계에 기본 데이터로 유용하게 사용될 것으로 판단된다.

The Effects of the Foot Types and Structures of the Inner Arch Support Bands on Ground Reaction Force Variables and Sensations during 2nd Vertical Ballet Jump

  • Objective: The purpose of this research was to establish the differences of ground reaction force variables and sensations according to the foot types and the structures of the inner arch support band during $2^{nd}$ vertical ballet jump. Method: 12 Female ballet majors in their twenties who have danced for more than 10 years and had no injuries were selected for this research. Independent variables consist of the foot type (pes rectus, pes planus) and the structure of the inner arch support band (no band, x-shaped, linear shaped). Dependent variables consist of ground reaction force variables and relative wearing sensation. Results: The impact decreased the most when x-shaped bands were used on pes rectus and rigid pes planus. When linear-shaped bands were used on flexible pes planus, the impact decreased. Conclusion: The bands also helped reduce the impact on pes rectus. Furthermore, it is clear that according to the foot type, the impact reducing band structures perform differently. The inner arch support bands were necessary for jump training for any foot type.

  • 유리섬유강화 폴리에스터(GFRP) 복합소재는 가볍고 내구성이 뛰어나 강재, 콘크리트, 나무 등과 같은 기존의 구조 재료들을 대체할 수 있는 재료로 최근 각광 받고 있다. 이러한 복합소재를 활용하기 위해 쉽게 조립할 수 있는 수직결구식 복합소재 데크를 활용한 아치가교 유형을 선행 연구에서 제안하였고 유한요소해석을 통해 검증하였다. 이 논문에서는 선행연구에서 제안된 볼트결합에 의한 복합소재 데크 조립식 아치가교의 안전성 및 사용성을 구조성능시험을 통해 검증하여 문제점을 파악하고 그 문제점을 해결하기 위해 개선된 아치가교 유형을 제안한다.

Is the Arch Index Meaningful

  • The foot type is classified into normal, high or low arch according to either foot print or medial longitudinal arch (MLA) height. Plantar fasciitis, heel pain, Achilles tendinitis, stress fracture, metatarsalgia, knee pain, shin splint pain, and etc are common foot disorders and associate to the foot type. The purpose of this study was to evaluate several suggested bony inclination used to classified the abnormal foot and if the arch index (AI) was correlated with foot morphology. Lateral view and dorso-plantar view of radiographic images and flatbed scanner measurements obtained from 57 college students were analyzed. Results showed that AI measured in this study was higher than Caucasian Americans and European, but similar with African. The ethnic origin could influent the AI distribution. The AI provided a simple quantitative means of assessing the structure of lateral and medial longitudinal arches. The correlation coefficients of true bone height with AI could be further improved by normalized foot width rather than foot length. AI also demonstrated as a good indicator of inclination between calcaneus-fifth metatarsal (CalM5) and calcaneus-first metatarsal (CalX), it is a good means to classify the foot type.

  • If an excessive displacement occurs in the base isolation system, the structure will be damaged due to overturning of the upper structure. In this study, we analyze the behavior of base isolation by applying earthquake to base isolation with anti-uplift device. In the case of structures that generate horizontal reaction forces such as arch structures, horizontal reaction forces must be considered in the design of the base isolation and structural members. And anti-uplift device for preventing the excessive displacement of the base isolation system is needed.

  • High speed railway structure, contact of vehicle needs to design considering the running stability(dynamic behavior). Also, upper structure has to satisfy design standard about moving load, high speed train(KTX). So, the high speed railway structure has to satisfy the requirement of natural frequency, vertical acceleration on deck, face distortion and vertical displacement considering ride comfort, which is suggested Ho-nam high speed railway design standard. In this study, it was investigated and evaluated to the dynamic behavior for a double-rib arch railway bridge subjected to moving load considering real high speed train loads.

  • When surveying the cultural heritages especially in the case of stone structures, preserving their originalstate is of primary importance. For the effective assessment of survey results of stone structure, thedynamic characteristics of that system should be considered. Dynamic characteristics of stone masonry structures depend on several factors such as coefficients of friction, contact conditions, and number of layers of bonding stones. These factors can be estimated by using the dynamic analysis results. This paper describes a method for natural frequency determination of traditional stone arch bridge subjected to compressive force. For this purpose, multi-layered granite brick models of for arch bridge were made and fundamental frequencies corresponding increasing axial forces were measured.
