Interpolator Design for Cubic Parallel Manipulator (육면형 병렬공작기계의 보간기 설계)

  • In order to utilize a parallel machine tool for CAM system, the development of adequate interpolator is necessary. This paper presents a quintic B-spline interpolator with algorithm of limiting maximum interpolation error. The favored property of near arc-length parametrization in the curve representation is used in the implementation of the reference command generation. Then, this interpolator is applied to cubic parallel manipulator to show its validity.

Vision-based Kinematic Modeling of a Worm's Posture (시각기반 웜 자세의 기구학적 모형화)

  • We present a novel method to model the body posture of a worm for vision-based automatic monitoring and analysis. The worm considered in this study is a Caenorhabditis elegans (C. elegans), which is popularly used for research in biological science and engineering. We model the posture by an open chain of a few curved or rigid line segments, in contrast to previously published approaches wherein a large number of small rigid elements are connected for the modeling. Each link segment is represented by only two parameters: an arc angle and an arc length for a curved segment, or an orientation angle and a link length for a straight line segment. Links in the proposed method can be readily related using the Denavit-Hartenberg convention due to similarities to the kinematics of an articulated manipulator. Our method was tested with real worm images, and accurate results were obtained.

  • The stainless steel sheet which is one of primary barrier components for membrane on LNG ship is ordinarily welded by either TIG or PAW. The weld shapes of acceptant tolerance for membrane construction are scripted by G.T.T.(Gaztransport & Technigaz)‘s rules such as penetration depth, weld throat and weld length etc. This paper presents relationship between weld metal shear strength and weld penetration formed with plasma arc welding. The results show penetration depth is not decisive factor on shear strength, but weld throat and length.

Nonlinear Analysis of RC Structures using Assumed Strain RM Shell Element

  • Nonlinear analysis of reinforced concrete structures is carried out by using Reissner-Mindlin (RM) shell finite element (FE). The brittle inelastic characteristic of concrete material is represented by using the elasto-plastic fracture (EPF) material model with the relevant material models such as cracking criteria, shear transfer model and tension stiffening model. In particular, assumed strains are introduced in the formulation of the present shell FE in order to avoid element deficiencies inherited in the standard RM shell FE. The arc-length control method is used to trace the full load-displacement path of reinforced concrete structures. Finally, four benchmark tests are carried out and numerical results are provided as future reference solutions produced by RM shell element with assumed strains.

  • In this paper, the governing differential equations for the non-linear behavior of shear deformable variable-arc-length beams subjected to an end moment are derived. The beam model is based on the Bernoulli-Euler beam theory. The Runge-Kutta and Regula-Falsi methods, respectively, are used to integrate the governing differential equations and to compute the beam's rotation at the left end of the beams. Numerical results are compared with existing closed-form and numerical solutions by other methods for cases in which they are available. The characteristic values of deflection curves for various load parameters are calculated and discussed.

  • 고장력강이 구조강재로서 널리 사용되고 있다. 구조물의 극심한 하중을 받게되면 최종강도에 도달할 때까지 좌굴을 동반하게 된다. 그러므로, 고장력강판의 좌굴에 대한 정확한 평가가 중요한 설계기준이 되고 있다. 그러나, 고장력강을 효율적으로 사용하기 위해서는 좌굴허용설계를 도입할 수 있도록 판구조물의 판두께가 얇아져야 한다. 따라서, 박판구조물의 합리적인 설계를 하기 위해서는 좌굴후거동해석이 매우 중요하다. 그러므로, 본 논문에서는 호장증분법을 이용하여 압출하중을 받는 박판구조물의 초기좌굴후거동과 2차좌굴강도에 대하여 규명하였다. 특히, 호장증분법을 좌굴정에서의 하중경로를 추정하기 위하여 적용하였다.

  • Recently, the buckling is easy to happen a thin plate and High Tensile Steel is used at the structure so that it is wide. Especially, the buckling is becoming important design criteria in the ship structure to use especially the High Tensile Steel. Consequently, it is important that we grasp the conduct after the buckling behaviour accurately at the stability of the body of ship structure. In this study, examined closely about conduct and secondary buckling after initial buckling of thin plate structure which receive compressive load according to various kinds aspect ratio under simply supported condition that make by buckling formula in each payment in advance rule to place which is representative construction of hull. Analysis method is F.E.M by ANSYS and complicated nonlinear behaviour to analyze such as secondary buckling.

The Experimental Research On The Electrical Characteristics For The Ignition Of Plasma Jet Using The Advance Discharge Of High Frequency Voltage With Attenuation (감쇠파 고주파전압의 선행방전을 이용한 Plasma jet의 전기적 기동특성에 대한 실험적 연구)

  • This paper discusses the characteristics about the ignition of D.C. main discharge is a plasma jet generator, manufactured for trial as non-transferred type, when the electrical energy appropriate to the ignition is supplied to the gap between the electrodes by using advance discharge of attenuating high frequency voltage generated by a high frequency oscillator with mercury spark gap. These characteristics are under the influences of (a) the length of mercury gap in high frequency oscillator and the quantity of hydrogen flow supplied to it, (b) the condenser capacity of the high frequency oscillator circuit, (c) the length of plasma jet torch in D.C. main discharge circuit and the quantity of argon flow supplied to it, (d) the circuit constants of D.C. main discharge circuit. The results for these characteristics, obtained by this research, are considered to be helpful to the designs for the ignition of a plasma jet as well as the welding arc stabilizer by high frequency discharge and the high frequency arc welder.

A Heuristic Algorithm to Find the Critical Path Minimizing the Maximal Regret (최대후회 최소화 임계 경로 탐색 알고리듬)

  • Finding the critical path (or the longest path) on acyclic directed graphs, which is well-known as PERT/CPM, the ambiguity of each acr's length can be modeled as a range or an interval, in which the actual length of arc may realize. In this case, the min-max regret criterion, which is widely used in the decision making under uncertainty, can be applied to find the critical path minimizing the maximum regret in the worst case. Since the min-max regret critical path problem with the interval arc's lengths is known as NP-hard, this paper proposes a heuristic algorithm to diminish the maximum regret. Then the computational experiments shows the proposed algorithm contributes to the improvement of solution compared with the existing heuristic algorithms.

Mathematical Models for Optimal Bead Geometry for GMA Welding Process

  • A major concern in Gas Metal Arc (GMA) welding process is the determination of welding process variables such as wire diameter, gas flow rate, welding speed, arc current and welding voltage and their effects on the desired weld bead dimensions and shape. To successfully accomplish this objective, 81 welded samples from mild steel AS 1204 flats adopting the bead-on-plate technique were employed in the experiment. The experimental results were used to develop a mathematical model to predict the magnitude of bead geometry as follows; weld bead width, weld bead height, weld bead penetration depth, weld penetration shape factor, weld reinforcement shape factor, weld bead total area, weld bead penetration area, weld bead reinforcement area, weld bead dilution, length of weld bead penetration boundary and length of weld bead reinforcement boundary, and to establish the relationships between weld process parameters and bead geomery. Multiple regression analysis was employed for investigating and modeling the GMA process and significance test techniques were applied for the interpretation of the experimental data.
