Application to the design of reduced-order robust MPC and MIMO identification

  • Two different issues, design of reduced-order robust model predictive control and input signal design for identification of a MIMO system, are addressed and design techniques based on singular value decomposition(SVD) of the pulse response circulant matrix(PRCM) are proposed. For this, we investigate the properties of the PRCM, which is a periodic approximation of a linear discrete-time system, and show its SVD represents the directional as well as the frequency decomposition of the system. Usefulness of the PRCM and effectiveness of the proposed design techniques are demonstrated through numerical examples.

  • Neural oscillator is applied in oscillatory systems (Analysis of image information, Voice recognition. Etc...). If we apply established EBPA(Error back Propagation Algorithm) to oscillatory system, we are difficult to presume complicated input's patterns. Therefore, it requires more data at training, and approximation of convergent speed is difficult. In this paper, I studied the neural oscillator as synchronized states with appropriate phase relation between neurons and recognized the Korean alphabet using Neural Oscillator Phase model Synchronization.

  • The unknown response function is usually approximated by a low order polynomial model. Such an approximation always accompanies bias due to model departure. The minimax Average MSE (AMSE) designs are suggested for estimating mean responses. A class of first order minimax AMSE designs is derived and a specific first order minimax AMSE design is selected from the class by optimizing the secondary criterion related to the power of the lack of fit test.

  • Stress function of ball bearing is function of multiple stochastic factors and this system is so complex that analytical expression for reliability is difficult to obtain. To address this pressing problem, in this article, we have made an attempt to approximate system reliability of this important item based on reliability bounds under the stress strength setup. This article also provides level of error of this item. Numerical analysis has been adopted to show the closeness between the upper and lower bounds of this item.

  • In the framework of the C-gauge condition for the perturbed variables and the linear approximation for the anisotropy of the spacetime, we studied the formulae for the Sachs-Wolfe effect in dust filled and perturbed Bianchi type I universe model. The results were compared with those of the flat Friedmann model.

  • A numerical method for gas-liquid two-phase flow is applied to solve shock-bubble interaction problems. The present method employs a finite-difference Runge-Kutta method and Roe's flux difference splitting approximation with the MUSCL-TVD scheme. A homogeneous equilibrium cavitation model is used. By this method, a Riemann problem for shock tube was computed for validation. Then, shock-bubble interaction problems between cylindrical bubbles located in the liquid and incident liquid shock wave are computed.

  • In this paper, we derive a closed-form formula of a second-order approximation for a European corrected option price under stochastic elasticity of variance model mentioned in Kim et al. (2014) [1] [J.-H. Kim, J Lee, S.-P. Zhu, S.-H. Yu, A multiscale correction to the Black-Scholes formula, Appl. Stoch. Model. Bus. 30 (2014)]. To find the explicit-form correction to the option price, we use Mellin transform approaches.

  • This paper presents a performance improvement technique of 2-D towed array shape estimation using Kalman filters. The proposed algorithm by linear model approximation corrects the position errors caused by the Kalman filter results. However, since the assumed linear model makes errors at bending parts, the spline interpolation algorithm based on curve is proposed to reduce the errors.

  • A new mixed approximation method is proposed for the model reduction of high order linear and time-invariant dynamic systems. This method makes allowance for stability and feature retention simultaneously. After defining dominant frequency range which affects relative stability of systems, a part of denominator is obtained using the energy dispersion method and tests are obtained using dominant frequency response matching method. The proposed method reflects the characteristic of the original system more faithfully and guarantees absolute stability of the reduction model.
