  • We propose an annotation system, which allows users moving on an environment to receive personalized messages that are generated by exploiting contextual information. In the system, the context is defined as an entity including user's identity, location and time. Identity of user is a key data to enable personal aspect of generated message. For sensing the context, the proposed system uses AR(augmented reality) technology. Markers are attached to real objects for tracking user's location. AR can provide an effective annotating method to enhance human's perception and interaction abilities. The received message can be a virtual post-it or three-dimensional virtual model of object overlaid onto the real-world view. Experimental results show that the proposed system works well in real-time with high performance and it can be used as a mobile service for personalized messaging.

  • Object tracking is used to track a goal in a video sequence by using coordinate information provided as annotation in the first frame of the video. In this paper, we propose a tracking algorithm that combines deep features and region inference modules to improve object tracking accuracy. In order to obtain sufficient object information, a convolution neural network was designed with a Siamese network structure. For object region inference, the region proposal network and overlapping confidence module were applied and used for tracking. The performance of the proposed tracking algorithm was evaluated using the Object Tracking Benchmark dataset, and it achieved 69.1% in the Success index and 89.3% in the Precision Metrics.

  • The explosive growth of the Internet leads to various on-line shopping malls and active E-Commerce. however, as the internet has experienced continuous growth, users have to face a variety and a huge amount of items, and often waste a lot of time on purchasing items that are relevant to their interests. To overcome this problem the comparison shopping systems, which can help to compare items' information with those other shopping malls, have been issued as a solution. However, when users do not have much knowledge what they want to find, a keyword-based searching in the existing comparison shopping systems lead users to waste time for searching information. Thereby, the performance is fell down. To solve this problem in this research, we suggest the Comparison Shopping System using Image Retrieval based on Semantic Web. The proposed system can assist users who don't know items' information that they want to find and serve users for quickly comparing information among the items. In the proposed system we use semantic web technology. We insert the Semantic Annotation based on Ontology into items' image of each shopping mall. Consequently, we employ those images for searching the items instead of using a complex keyword. In order to evaluate performance of the proposed system we compare our experimental results with those of Keyword-based Comparison Shopping System and simple Semantic Web-based Comparison Shopping System. Our result shows that the proposed system has improved performance in comparison with the other systems.

  • The EST Knowledge Integrated System, EKIS (http://ekis.kribb.re.kr), was established as a part of Korea's Ministry of Education, Science and Technology initiative for genome sequencing and application research of the biological model organisms (GEAR) project. The goals of the EKIS are to collect EST information from GEAR projects and make an integrated database to provide transcriptomic and metabolomic information for biological scientists. The EKIS constitutes five independent categories and several retrieval systems in each category for incorporating massive EST data from high-throughput sequencing of 65 different species. Through the EKIS database, scientists can freely access information including BLAST functional annotation as well as Genechip and pathway information for KEGG. By integrating complex data into a framework of existing EST knowledge information, the EKIS provides new insights into specialized metabolic pathway information for an applied industrial material.

  • Intron prediction is an important problem of the constantly updated genome annotation. Using two model plant (rice and $Arabidopsis$) genomes, we compared two well-known intron prediction tools: the Blast-Like Alignment Tool (BLAT) and Sim4cc. The results showed that each of the tools had its own advantages and disadvantages. BLAT predicted more than 99% introns of whole genomic introns with a small number of false-positive introns. Sim4cc was successful at finding the correct introns with a false-negative rate of 1.02% to 4.85%, and it needed a longer run time than BLAT. Further, we evaluated the intron information of 10 complete plant genomes. As non-coding sequences, intron lengths are not limited by a triplet codon frame; so, intron lengths have three phases: a multiple of three bases (3n), a multiple of three bases plus one (3n + 1), and a multiple of three bases plus two (3n + 2). It was widely accepted that the percentages of the 3n, 3n + 1, and 3n + 2 introns were quite similar in genomes. Our studies showed that 80% (8/10) of species were similar in terms of the number of three phases. The percentages of 3n introns in $Ostreococcus$ $lucimarinus$ was excessive (47.7%), while in $Ostreococcus$ $tauri$, it was deficient (29.1%). This discrepancy could have been the result of errors in intron prediction. It is suggested that a three-phase evaluation is a fast and effective method of detecting intron annotation problems.

  • In order to process video data effectively, it is required that the content information of video data is loaded in database and semantic- based retrieval method can be available for various query of users. Currently existent contents-based video retrieval systems search by single method such as annotation-based or feature-based retrieval, and show low search efficiency and requires many efforts of system administrator or annotator form less perfect automatic processing. In this paper, we propose semantic-based video retrieval system which support semantic retrieval of various users by feature-based retrieval and annotation-based retrieval of massive video data. By user's fundamental query and selection of image for key frame that extracted from query, the automatic indexing agent gives the detail shape for annotation of extracted key frame. Also, key frame selected by user become query image and searches the most similar key frame through feature based retrieval method that propose. Therefore, we propose the system that can heighten retrieval efficiency of video data through semantic-based retrieval.

  • Background: As the number of households raising companion dogs increases, the pet genetic analysis market also continues to grow. However, most studies have focused on specific purposes or native breeds. This study aimed to collect genomic data through single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) chip analysis of companion dogs in South Korea and perform genetic diversity analysis and SNP annotation. Methods: We collected samples from 95 dogs belonging to 26 breeds, including mixed breeds, in South Korea. The SNP genotypes were obtained for each sample using an AxiomTM Canine HD Array. Quality control (QC) was performed to enhance the accuracy of the analysis. A genetic diversity analysis was performed for each SNP. Results: QC initially selected SNPs, and after excluding non-diverse ones, 621,672 SNPs were identified. Genetic diversity analysis revealed minor allele frequencies, polymorphism information content, expected heterozygosity, and observed heterozygosity values of 0.220, 0.244, 0.301, and 0.261, respectively. The SNP annotation indicated that most variations had an uncertain or minimal impact on gene function. However, approximately 16,000 non-synonymous SNPs (nsSNPs) have been found to significantly alter gene function or affect exons by changing translated amino acids. Conclusions: This study obtained data on SNP genetic diversity and functional SNPs in companion dogs raised in South Korea. The results suggest that establishing an SNP set for individual identification could enable a gene-based registration system. Furthermore, identifying and researching nsSNPs related to behavior and diseases could improve dog care and prevent abandonment.
