The classical solar wind theory proposed by Parker(1963) explains well the dynamics of the wind pheonomena such as stellar wind and accretion disk. While the stellar wind system like the solar wind has the spherically symmetric wind structure, there are various jet phenomena which collimate the system into the narrow space. We can find these dynamical structures in SS433, in the optical jet of M87, and around the active galactic nulei. We present the dynamical structure of the jet system in disks, which conserves the angular monetum, with the Keplerian rotation and the strong relation between the geometrical cross section and the physical change of the jet stream on the basis of the hydrodynamic equations.

Holographic interferornetric tomography can provide reconstruction of instantaneous three dimensional gross flow fields. The technique however confronts ill-posed reconstruction problems in practical applications. Experimental data are usually limited in projection and angular scanning when a field is captured instantaneously or under the obstruction of test models and test section enclosures. An algorithm, based on a series expansion method, has been developed to improve the reconstruction under the ill-posed conditions. A three-dimensional natural convection flow around two interacting isothermal cubes is experimentally investigated. The flow can provide a challenging reconstruction problem and lend itself to accurate numerical solution for comparison. The refractive index fields at two horizontal sections of the thermal plume with and without an opaque object are reconstructed at a limited view angle of 80" The experimental reconstructions are then compared with those from numerical calculation and thermocouple thermometry. It confirms that the technique is applicable to reconstruction of reasonably complex, three-dimensional flow fields.elds.

In this paper, we present the principle of virtual work, from which the exact non-linear equations of motion of a rotating ring can be derived, by using the theory of finite deformation For a thin ring of which the effect of variation in curvature across the cross-section is neglected, the radial displacement and the extensional stress are determined from the principle of virtual work at the steady state where the ring is rotating with a constant angular velocity. And also we formulate systematically the governing equations concerned to the in-plane vibrations and the out-of-plane vibrations at the disturbed state by using the principle of virtual work which is expressed with the disturbed displacements about the steady state. The formulated governing equations are classified by four models along the cases of considering or neglecting all or partly the secondary effects of flexural shear, rotary inertia, circumferential extension, and twist inertia. The natural vibrations of thin rings are analyzed, and its results are compared and discussed.
In recent years, there has been a tendency towards renewable energy sources considering the damages caused by non-renewable energy resources to nature and humans. One of the renewable energy sources is wind and energy is obtained with the help of wind turbines. To determine the behavior of wind turbines under earthquake loads, dynamic characteristics are required. In this study, the differential transformation method is proposed to determine the free vibration analysis of wind turbines with a variable cross-section. The wind turbine is modeled as an equivalent variable continuous flexural beam and blade weight is considered as a point mass at the top of the structures. The differential equation representing the free vibration of the wind turbine is transformed into an algebraic equation with the help of differential transformation method and the angular frequencies and the mode shapes of the wind turbine are obtained by the help of the differential transformation method. In the study, a sample taken from the literature was solved with the presented method and the suitability of the method was investigated. The same wind turbine example also modeled by finite element modelling software, ABAQUS. Results of the finite element model and differential transformation method are compared with each other and the results are in good agreement.
Tracers are one of the critical factors for improving the performance of velocimetry. Silver and gold nanoparticles as tracers with localized surface-plasmon resonance are analyzed for their scattering properties. The scattering cross sections, angular distribution of the scattering, and equivalent scattering cross sections from 53° and 1.5° half-angle cones at 532 nm are calculated, with particle sizes in the nanoscale range. The 53° and 1.5° half-angle cones used as examples correspond respectively to the collection cones for microscope objectives in microscopic measurements and camera lenses in macroscopic measurements. We find that there is a transitional size near 35 nm when comparing the equivalent scattering cross sections between silver and gold nanoparticles in water at 532 nm. The equivalent scattering cross section of silver nanoparticles is greater or smaller than that of gold nanoparticles when the particle radius is greater or smaller than 35 nm respectively. When the radius of the plasmonic nanoparticles is smaller than about 44 nm, their equivalent scattering cross sections are at least ten times that of TiO2 nanoparticles. Plasmonic nanoparticles are promising for velocimetry applications.

An X-ray diffractometer for spatially resolved X-ray diffraction measurements was developed to identify phase in the narrow (micron-scaled) region of high burn-up fuels and some nuclear materials. The micro-XRD was composed of an X-ray microbeam alignment system and a sample micro translation system instead of a normal slit and a fixed sample stage in a commercial XRD. The X-ray microbeam alignment system was fabricated with a microbeam concentrator having two Ni deposited mirrors, a vertical positioner, and a tilt table for the generation of a concentrated microbeam. The sample micro translation system was made with a sample holder and a horizontal translator, allowing movement of a specimen at $5{\mu}m$ steps. The angular intensity profile of the microbeam generated through a concentrator was symmetric and not distorted. The size of the microbeam was $4,000{\times}20{\mu}m$ and the spatial resolution of the beam was $47{\mu}m$ at the sample position. When the diffraction peaks were measured for a $UO_2$ pellet specimen by this system, the reproducibility ($2{\Theta}={\pm}0.01^{\circ}$) of the peaks was as good as a conventional X-ray diffractometer. For the cross section of oxidized titanium metal, not only $TiO_2$ in an outer layer but also TiO near an oxide-metal interface was observed.
For 20 taxa of Korean Allium, including 16 species and 5 varieties, examined were morphological characters (i.e. sexuality, structure and shape of underground part, types and growing patterns of leaf and scape, and shapes of perianth, filament and pistil). The specialization and the evolutionary trends of taxonomic characters were inferred from morphological examination. Taxonomic relationships and system of Korean Allium were also studied. The characters showing evolutionary trends were the structure and shape of underground part including rhizome and bulb, leaf, scape, inflorescens, filament and ovary. It seemed that thin and short rhizome developed from thick and long one, and the membranous simple bulb tunic evolved into fibrous reticulate one. The presence of hyaline sheath in A. monanthum of sect. Microscordum was apomorphic. Both angular leaf blade with 2-rowed vascular bundle and flat blade with 1-rowed vascular bundle were developed from terete one with 2-rowed vascular bundle. The base of filament have differentiated from entire to toothed, and 2-ovuled ovary as well as erect scape before flowering was plesiomorphic type. In addition, sexuality, structure of underground part, the presence of hyaline sheath and cross-section structure of leaf were taxonomic characters with the level of the subgenus in this genus. Shape of rhizome, bulb, leaf, scape and pedicel discriminated each section from other ones in the subgenera easily. The shape and arrangement of perianth and filaments were the diagnostic characters for species level along with shape of ovary and stigma.
Sand layer distribution, which is the main target of river and land aggregate resources, mainly belongs to alluvial and river sedimentary environments among the Quaternary sedimentary environments. The distribution of aggregate resources in the area of Geumsan-gun, Chungcheongnam-do is characteristically developed around a sedimentation environment in which intrusive meandering river dominate. Although the area around Bonhwangcheon Stream and the area near the confluence of small streams are small, the river floodplain develops and corresponds to the aggregate distribution area. The sedimentary layer formed in the sedimentary environment such as colluvial deposits or alluvial fan deposits has a relatively low distribution rate of aggregate resources. The vertical distribution of the Quaternary sedimentary layers in the Geumsan-gun region ranges from about 5 to 12 m and has an average Quaternary sedimentary thickness of 8 m. The aggregate-bearing section has an average thickness of 3.6 m, and the average grain size is about 21% clay-silt, 67% sand, and 12% gravel. The main characteristics of the aggregate-bearing section are that coarse-grained sand predominates, and gravel is sub-angular or sub-rounded, and the sorting is generally poor and has a massive form of deposits, and the soil colour ranges from dark grey to yellowish-brown. In Geumsan-gun, the most likely distribution area for aggregate development is the alluvial sedimentary and river sedimentary layers distributed along the current and former riverbeds of the main Geumgang River, Bonhwangcheon and small River tributaries.

A sonobuoy is dropped onto the surface of water to estimate the bearing of an underwater target. A Directional Frequency Analysis and Recording (DIFAR) sonobuoy has an error in the specific angular section due to the method of estimating bearing and noise, which causes an error in target localization using multiple sonobuoys. In addition, the position of the sonobuoy continues to move, but since a sonobuoy with a GPS is intermittently arranged, it is difficult to estimate the exact position of the sonobuoy. This also causes target localization performance degradation. In this paper, we propose a technique to improve the target localization performance by compensating for bearing errors using characteristics of the DIFAR sonobuoy and multiple-sonobuoy position errors based on the intermittently arranged active sonobuoy with a GPS.

In order to verify the lift enhancement of the 2D hydrofoil with trailing edge rotor and check the ability of its practical use, experimental studies were conducted in the caviation tunnel using the test model with NACA0020 section. The three-component forces acting on the model could be measured by exclusively designed sting type multi-component load cell. The trailing edge of the model has been replaced with rotor which could be controlled by DC servo motor installed at the exterior of the tunnel. A typical effect of the trailing edge rotor has been introduced among the systematic experiments on various angular deviation of the model and the rotational velocity of the trailing edge rotor. It is appeared that the circulation control effect could be easily adjusted by selecting the rotational velocity of the trailing edge rotor and the lift force was augmented more than two times. Thus the proposed lifting device could be utilized as a novel high lifting device which has adjustability of lift force.
