  • The structures of two VBS (viral binding site) RNAs, SL1 and SL2, of Yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae vims have been studied by 2D and 3D NMR experiments. VBSs play a crucial role in viral particle binding to the plus strand and packaging of the RNA. The secondary structures of the two VBS RNAs share a common feature of the stem-internal loop-stem-hairpin loop structure although the size of the internal loops of SL1 and SL2 differs. 2D experiments were sufficient for fill assignments of SL1. However, isotope labeling of the sample and multidimensional experiments were required for 28-nucleotide-long SL2 due to the spectral overlap. Several 3D HCCH experiments have accomplished full assignment of SL2 RNA.

  • Resonance frequencies from the $^{113}Cd$ and $^{133}Cs$ nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectra for the $CsCdBr_3$ single crystal were measured at varying temperatures by the static NMR method. The temperature-dependent changes of these frequencies are related to the changing structural geometry of the ${CdBr_6}^{4-}$ units, which affects the environment of $^{133}Cs$. The spin-lattice relaxation rates ($1/T_1$) for the $^{113}Cd$ and $^{133}Cs$ nuclei were measured in order to obtain detailed information about the dynamics of $CsCdBr_3$ crystals. The dominant relaxation mechanisms for $^{113}Cd$ and $^{133}Cs$ nuclei are direct single-phonon and Raman spin-phonon processes, respectively.

  • Carbon monoxide (CO) intoxication is a leading cause of the variable neuropsychiatric impairment. Despite of widely known central nerve system complications after CO intoxication, peripheral neuropathy due to CO poisoning is rare and has been under-recognized. We report interesting case of a 29-year-old male who suffered from motor weakness and sensory abnormalities in his lower extremity following acute CO intoxication. The patient revealed direct and indirect signs of peripheral neuropathy of the left inferior gluteal and sciatic nerve on magnetic resonance imaging.

  • The response characteristics of one to one resonance on the quadrangle cantilever beam in which basic harmonic excitations are applied by nonlinear coupled differential-integral equations are studied. This equations have 3-dimensional non-linearity of nonlinear inertia and nonlinear curvature. Galerkin and multi scale methods are used for theoretical approach to one-to-one internal resonance. Nonlinear response characteristics of 1st, 2nd, 3rd modes are measured from the experiment for basic harmonic excitation. From the experimental result, geometrical terms of non-linearity display light spring effect and these terms play an important role in the response characteristics of low frequency modes. Nonlinear nitration in the out of plane are also studied.

  • Power capacitors is widely used for power factor correction and component of passive filter in the user power systems. Recently, application of non-linear load is gradually increased. Non-linear load produces harmonic components of current. There are series resonance and parallel resonance when capacitors are applied in the user electrical application. If this harmonic component matches resonance, voltage and current is magnified and has severely an influences on capacitor. This paper purposes a new method for the magnitude of voltage and current by the frequency scan analysis without equivalent circuit for the actual circuit at the resonance condition.

  • A theoretical analysis is presented for the multichannel type resonance at energies above the dissociation threshold to O(1D) in the photodissociation of OH. Dissociations to both oxygenic terms O(3P) and O(1D) are treated. Total cross sections for producing these oxygen terms display asymmetric resonance due to the quantum interference resulting from complicated interplay of electronic states correlating to these two oxygenic terms. The branching ratios of O(3Pj, j = 0, 1, 2), and the vector properties of O(3Pj, j =0,1,2) and O(1D) display extensive changes near the threshold resonance as the result of the interactions among the electronic states correlated with O(3P) and O(1D).

  • In this research, the linear electrical generator in wave energy farm utilizing resonance power buoy system is studied. The mechanical resonance characteristics of the buoy and the wave are analyzed to maximize the kinetic energy in a relatively small wave energy area where WRPS is operated. In this research, we chose an analog model of the linear electrical generator of which size is one-hundredth of an actual size of it in WPRS (Wave energy farm utilizing Resonance Power buoy System) prior to verifying the characteristics of actual model of linear electrical generator in WRPS. In addition, the finite element analysis is conducted using commercial electromagnetic analysis software named MAXWELL to examine the electric characteristic of linear generator. Finally, for the verification of dynamic and electric characteristics of linear generator, the prototype was manufactured and the experiments to measure the displacement and the output electric power were performed.

  • Magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) plays an important role in accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment planning for patients with arterial disease. Contrast-enhanced (CE) MRA is fast and robust, offering hemodynamic information of arterial flow, but involves the risk of a side effect called nephrogenic systemic fibrosis. Various non-contrast-enhanced (NCE) MRA techniques have been developed by utilizing the fact that arterial blood is moving fast compared to background tissues. NCE MRA is completely free of any safety issues, but has different drawbacks for various approaches. This review article describes basic principles of CE and NCE MRA techniques with a focus on how to generate angiographic image contrast from a pulse sequence perspective. Advantages, pitfalls, and key applications are also discussed for each MRA method.

  • Cranial-nerve disorders can be caused by a wide spectrum of diseases, including congenital, inflammatory, and tumorous diseases, and are often encountered in practice. However, the imaging of cranial-nerve disorders is challenging, and understanding the anatomical differences of each region is essential for conducting the best protocols and for detecting subtle changes in cranial nerves during magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) examinations. In this review we discuss which MRI techniques are best for observing normal and pathologic appearance, according to the different regions of the cranial nerves.
