용접 수평헌치로 보강된 내진 철골 모멘트 접합부의 해석적 모형화 (Analytical Modeling of Seismic Steel Moment Connections Reinforced with Welded Straight Haunch)

  • 본 논문에서는 용접 수평헌치로 보강된 내진 철골모멘트접합부를 간단히 해석적으로 모형화하는 새로운 방안을 제시하였다. 1994년 노스리지 및 1995년 효고현 남부 지진피해 이후 철골모멘트접합부의 새로운 내진상세가 다양하게 제시되어 왔다. 이 가운데 보의 하부를 헌치로서 보강하는 방안도 유망한 대안의 하나로 평가되고 있다. 삼각헌치 대신 수평헌치를 도입하면 보강작업이 용이하고 경제적으로도 유리하나 아직 응력전달 메카니즘이 규명되지 않고 있어서 정립된 설계방안이 존재하지 않는다. 본 연구에서는 보와 헌치의 상호작용 및 변형의 적합조건을 고려하여 이 문제의 해결방안을 제시하였다. 본 연구의 방안에 의해 설계에 필요한 보-헌치의 상호작용력 및 보와 헌치 플랜지 용접부의 휨응력도를 만족스럽게 예측할 수 있다.

비부착 프리스트레스트 보강재를 갖는 PSC 부재의 변위와 프리스트레스트 보강재 응력의 상관관계 및 변수별 효과 (Relation of Deflection of Prestressed Concrete Members to Unbonded Tendon Stress and Effects of Various Parameters)

  • 본 연구는 비부착 프리스트레스트 보강재를 갖는 PSC 부재의 휨거동과 프리스트레스트 보강재의 극한응력과의 관계분석을 위한 해석연구로서, Moon/Lim의 제안식을 검증하기 위한 일련의 연구에 포함된다. 프리스트레스트 보강재의 응력변화량이 부재의 변위와 밀접한 관계가 있다는 기존 실험연구의 결과를 토대로 변형률 적합 조건을 이용한 해석적 연구를 수행하였다. 제안식이 변형률 적합 조건을 사용하였기 때문에 동일한 방법을 사용하여 부재변위를 해석적으로 구하고 실험결과와 먼저 비교하였다. 그 결과를 통하여 변형률 적합조건을 사용하는 해석방법과 제안식의 타당성을 증명하였다. 흐리고 검증된 해석결과를 이용하여 비부착 프리스트레스트 보강재를 갖는 PSC 부재의 휨거동과 프리스트레스트 보강재의 극한응력과의 관계를 분석하였다. 또한 부재변위를 대상으로 한 변수별 효과분석을 통하여 기존연구의 결과와 유사한 결과를 얻을 수 있었다. 끝으로 제안식에 사용한 변수들도 적절하게 선정되었음도 검증하였다.

HPLC 분석기를 이용한 펄프용 단풍나무의 펄핑 추출액에 관한 물질수지 (Mass Balance on the Pulping Extracts of Maple Hardwood using High Performance Liquid Chromatography)

  • 현재 메인 주립대학에서는 펄프용 목재 성분 중 헤미셀룰로오스 추출 기술에 관한 연구개발이 한창 진행 중이다. 펄프의 수율 향상과 용액 회수에 필요한 유기 및 무기물 사용을 줄이고 새로운 바이오 물질 생산에 필요한 도입부 추가 공정이 연구의 핵심이다. 바이오 물질 중 경제적으로 상용 가능한 에탄올 생산(pilot-scale)에 있어 전 처리되지 않은 기질, 전 처리된 기질 및 펄핑 선 추출액의 화학적 성분분석은 아주 중요한 공정이다. HPLC (High Performance Liquid Chromatography)를 이용한 펄프목재 성분분석 결과, H-column으로 분석한 총 물질수지(total analytical mass balance)는 전 처리되지 않은 칩의 경우 100.6%, 전 처리된 목재 칩은 100.3%, 그리고 펄핑 선 추출액은 81.6%의 결과를 보였다. 한편, P-column으로 분석한 결과, 전 처리되지 않은 기질, 전 처리된 기질, 그리고 선 추출액은 각각, 97.8%, 97.4%, 그리고 80.7%로 나타났다. 총 물질수지가 100%를 넘거나 부족한 수치는 분석해석 중 발생한 약간의 오류로 보인다. 펄프-바이오리파이너리(Biorefinery) 공정을 통해 생성된 기질(substrate) 각각의 정확한 성분분석 결과는 에탄올 상용화 공정에 필요한 중요한 자료가 될 것으로 기대한다.

장축 실린더의 열변형 최소화를 위한 차열관 효과 해석 및 실험 연구 (An Analytical and Experimental Study on the Thermal Shroud Effect to Minimize Thermal Deformation of a High L/D Ratio Cylinder)

  • A barrel is a high length-to-diameter ratio cylinder that is influenced by environmental factors such as sunlight, precipitation, wind and clouds. Cross-barrel temperature differences caused by uneven heating or cooling lead to thermal deformation that degrades accuracy. Therefore, a barrel is covered by thermal shrouds to minimize the type of thermal deformation, "fall-of-shot". In this paper, an analytical and experimental study is presented to design the thermal shrouds for a gun barrel and to evaluate the thermal shroud effect. First, an analytical study on the thermal shroud effect to minimize thermal deformation of a gun barrel by sunlight and wind is performed. The coupled analysis of thermal fluid dynamics of the air flow between a barrel and thermal shrouds and thermal stresses of a barrel Is performed to clarify both the thermal shroud effect and the drift in gun muzzle orientation by thermal deformation. Second, experiments are carried out to test and evaluate the thermal shroud effect on the performance of a gun barrel. The drift in gun muzzle orientation against the solar radiation is confirmed by the experiments, and the results well agree with the analytical estimation. Third, three principal design factors that are presumed to have an effect on the performance of the thermal shrouds are also analyzed; sorts of shroud materials, wall-thickness of thermal shrouds, and distance of the gap between a barrel and thermal shrouds.

Complex Power: An Analytical Approach to Measuring the Degree of Urbanity of Urban Building Complexes

  • The importance of designing urban building complexes so that they obtain 'urban' power, rather than become isolated from the surrounding urban context, has been well recognized by both researchers and practitioners. Nevertheless, most current discussions are made from architects' personal experiences and intuition, and lack a quantitative understanding, to which obstacles include an in-depth exploration of the 'urban' power between building complexes and the urban environment. This paper attempts to measure this feature of 'urban', i.e., 'urbanity,' through a new analytical approach derived from the opendata environment. Three measurements that can be easily collected though the Google Maps API and Open Street Map are applied herein to evaluate high or low values of urbanity. Specifically, these are 'metric depth', i.e., the scale of extended public space, 'development density', i.e., density and distribution of point of interests (POIs), and 'type diversity', i.e., diversity of different commercial types. Six cases located in Japan, China and Hong Kong respectively are ranked based on this analytical approach and compared with each other. It shows that Japanese cases, i.e., Osaka Station City and Namba Parks, Osaka, obtained clearly higher values than cases in Shanghai and Hong Kong. On one hand, the insight generated from measuring and explaining 'urban' power would help to assist better implementation of this feature in the design of urban building complexes. On the other hand, this analytical approach can be easily extended to achieve a large-scale measurement and comparison among different urban building complexes, which is also helpful for design practitioners.

Quinetides: diverse posttranslational modified peptides of ribonuclease-like storage protein from Panax quinquefolius as markers for differentiating ginseng species

  • Background: Peptides have diverse and important physiological roles in plants and are ideal markers for species identification. It is unclear whether there are specific peptides in Panax quinquefolius L. (PQ). The aims of this study were to identify Quinetides, a series of diverse posttranslational modified native peptides of the ribonuclease-like storage protein (ginseng major protein), from PQ to explore novel peptide markers and develop a new method to distinguish PQ from Panax ginseng. Methods: We used different fragmentation modes in the LTQ Orbitrap analysis to identify the enriched Quinetide targets of PQ, and we discovered Quinetide markers of PQ and P. ginseng using ultrahigh-performance liquid chromatography-quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry analysis. These "peptide markers" were validated by simultaneously monitoring Rf and F11 as standard ginsenosides. Results: We discovered 100 Quinetides of PQ with various post-translational modifications (PTMs), including a series of glycopeptides, all of which originated from the protein ginseng major protein. We effectively distinguished PQ from P. ginseng using new "peptide markers." Four unique peptides (Quinetides TP6 and TP7 as markers of PQ and Quinetides TP8 and TP9 as markers of P. ginseng) and their associated glycosylation products were discovered in PQ and P. ginseng. Conclusion: We provide specific information on PQ peptides and propose the clinical application of peptide markers to distinguish PQ from P. ginseng.

Analytical calculation method for the axial equivalent elastic modulus of laminated FRP pipes based on three-dimensional stress state

  • In engineering design, the axial equivalent elastic modulus of laminated FRP pipe was mostly calculated by the average elastic modulus method or the classical laminated plate theory method, which are based on relatively simplified assumptions, and may be not accurate enough sometimes. A new analytical calculation method for the axial equivalent elastic modulus of laminated FRP pipe was established based on three-dimensional stress state. By comparing the results calculated by this method with those by the above two traditional analytical methods and the finite element method, it is found that this method for the axial equivalent elastic modulus fits well not only for thin-walled pipes with orthotropic layers, but also for thick-walled pipes with arbitrary layers. Besides, the influence of the layer stacking on the axial equivalent elastic modulus was studied with this method. It is found that a proper content of circumferential layer is beneficial for improving the axial equivalent elastic modulus of the laminated FRP pipe with oblique layers, and then can reduce its material quantity under the premise that its axial stiffness remains unchanged. Finally, the meso-mechanical mechanism of this effect was analyzed. The improving effect of circumferential layer on the axial equivalent elastic modulus of the laminated FRP pipe with oblique layers is mainly because that, the circumferential fibers can restrain the rigid body rotations of the oblique fibers, which tend to cause the significant deformations of the pipe wall units and the relatively low axial equivalent elastic modulus of the pipe.

뉴 미디어 아트의 개념을 도입한 현대 건축의 디자인 경향에관한 연구 - 미디어 발전과 정보 전달 방식의 변화를 중심으로 - (A Study on the Design Tendency of Contemporary Architecture Introducing New Media Art Concept - Focusing on the change for way of information transmission change and media development -)

  • The purpose of this study is to pronounce design trends in contemporary architecture collaborated with new media art concept. Currently, the prevalence of media presence has evolved perspectives on contemporary aesthetics today. To make clear demonstration on the issue, this study categorized new media art's expressional characteristics applied in the contemporary architectural design in conjunction with analytical researches on typologies and expressional characteristics appear in new media art. More specifically, the study selected architects who adopted new media art's expressional characteristics into their works from the year 2000 and performed analytical case studies with regard to the effect of the new media art into their architectural practices. By following methodologies mentioned above, conclusively the study categorized distinct expressional characteristics appears in contemporary architecture as a result of merging with new media art. The characteristics of the new media art appeared in contemporary architecture are categorized into three groups such as the design controlling external environment, the design utilizing web environment and the design participated by users. These observation could be translated that architects could present interactive design between users and building as a result from architect's capability of designing protocols which generate variable forms, colors and patterns in architecture. In particular, architecture utilizing web environment has characteristic capability of configurating user's program in virtual space. Also it is anticipated to suggest new patterns in generating architectural programs and forms. These patterns would not recognize the city merely as an incident or fragmented image but would configurate forms and images constructed by individual notional character. In conclusion, the architecture itself is expected to perform as media to open up opportunities that enables to contribute in expediting interactions among environment, users, and buildings by deviating from perspectives of representation as an object expressed in modernism architecture or as a classical decoration in post-modernism architecture in the past era.
