  • This paper describes the contingency analysis methods which are used in the transmission reliability program, TPLAN. Reliability criterion, reliability assessment, ranking methods, and screening methods are discussed. In addition, a simple 25-bus system was tested with TPLAN and its analyses are presented in this paper.

  • In this paper, a Klein-Gordon equation is solved by using the homotopy analysis method (HAM), homotopy perturbation method (HPM) and modified homotopy perturbation method (MHPM). The approximation solution of this equation is calculated in the form of series which its components are computed easily. The uniqueness of the solution and the convergence of the proposed methods are proved. The accuracy of these methods are compared by solving an example.

  • The characteristics of Weibull distribution are investigated as a function of shape parameter. The statistical estimation methods of the shape parameter and statistical comparison methods of two or more shape parameters are studied. Assuming Weibull distribution, statistical analysis of bending-strength data of alumina titanium carbide ceramic matrix composites machined two different methods are performed.

  • There are representative two performance evaluation methods for performance-based design(PBD) of reinforced concrete structures by the nonlinear static analysis, one method includes the capacity spectrum method(CSM) suggested in ATC-40(996) and the other is the displacement coefficient method(DCM) in FEMA-273(1997). The objective of this paper is to compare and verify two methods and suggest the displacement-based design for new performance evaluation of reinforced concrete structures.

  • In this paper, we derive the algorithm for calculating contact point between wheel and rail and develop the method for track modeling. The proposed methods use travelling distance to represent track center line poistion vector and track orientation with respect to Newtonian reference frame. The proposed methods can be easily used in multibody dynamic analysis. Two numerical examples are given to verify the validity of the proposed methods.

  • This paper deals with a comparison between Taguchi's accumulation analysis method and Nair test on the ordered categorical data from an industrial experiment for quality improvement. a result of Taguchi's accumulation analysis method is shown to have reasonable power for detecting location effects, while Nair test identifies the location and dispersion effects separately, Accordingly, Taguchi's accumulation analysis needs to develop methods for detecting dispersion effects as well as location effects. In addition this paper rewmmends models for analyzing ordered categorical data, for examples, the cumulative legit model, mean response model etc Successively simple, reasonable methods should be introduced more likely to be used by the practitioners.

  • The purpose of this paper is to compare several forecasting methods for the case of the cement product by the analysis of the forecasting data and by the study of major forecasting methods, which are the Trend Projection, Exponential Smoothing, and Multiple Regression Analysis. As a result, it is thought that the Multiple Regression Analysis is the optimal model for the case of the cement product. In addition, it is important to consider the future circumstances for forecasting, and to improve the level of the forecasting results through the precise analysis of the collected data.

  • This paper will present some basic and simple graphical methods of exploratory data analysis for the instrument of data analysis at school mathematics. Human beings perceive visual patterns more readily than patterns in collections of numbers. This is especially important in exploratory data analysis because pictures dramatically reveal things that we did not expect to find in the data set. Here are graphical methods as the stem and leaf plot, the box plot, the star plot and the face plot. These methods impulse the motivation of students in real life. And the subject can be taught in secondary school with several applications. Also It is important for students to get a feel for working with and manipulating data before studying the more theoretical aspects of statistics.

  • We conducted a content analysis of the researches published for a 7-year period (1997-2003) in the Korean Journal of Play Therapy (Korean Association for Play Therapy) and The Journal of Play Therapy (Korean Association of Psychological Rehabilitation for Children). Specifically, we analyzed a total of 156 articles for research contents, instruments, subjects, statistical analytic methods, and references. The results of the study are as follows: First, the principal areas of research activity and publication were specific theoretical review, personality, and adjustment research. Most outcomes, processes, and outcome researches were conducted in a form of case study. Second, typical samples contained 4 to 6 year old children or elementary schoolers. A lot of them were counseling center clients or normally adapted children. Third, 37% of the articles used ANOVA-related statistical analytic methods, and 35% of them used descriptive statistical analytic methods. Lastly, many articles averagely cited foreign references written 11 years prior to domestic references.

  • The objectives of this study are to find out the research methodology about misconception, the types of scientific concepts to be misconcepted the analysis methodology of causes of misconception, and remediation methodology of misconception. The research methods of this study are descriptive ques tionnare, interview, classroom observation and curriculum analysis. The results of this study are: ${\circ}$ The descriptive questionnaire is sufficient to obtain children's ideas. ${\circ}$ The types of science concepts to be misconcepted are 'the invisible natural phenomena,' 'the vague Understanding', 'the contents of teachers' lecture', 'the lack of children's cognitive development,'and 'the influence of nursery stories.' ${\circ}$ The Cause analysis methods of misconception are that the analysis of the cognitive level of the questionnaire items, the examining the item concepts are taught or not and the investigation about the agreement of the cognitive level of the questionnaire item and children. ${\circ}$ Remediation methods are visualijation and instrustion of invisible natural phenomena, concrete presentation of the scientific concepts, and acceleration of the cognitive development.
