Objectives: While recent studies showed that coffee consumption reduced the risk of all-cause mortality, no study has examined the effect of coffee consumption on all-cause mortality related to sleep disorders. We aimed to examine whether sleep-related disorders would differently affect the association between coffee consumption and the risk of all-cause mortality among 8,075 adults aged 40 to 69 years. Methods: In a prospective cohort study, the study participants were biennially followed up for 12 years from 2001 to 2012. On each follow-up visit, the participants underwent comprehensive tests including anthropometric examinations, interviewer-administered questionnaires, and biochemical tests. Coffee consumption frequency and the amount were measured using a semi-quantitative food frequency questionnaire. Using death certificate data from Korean National Statistical Office, the vital status of each study participant was identified. Sleep-related disorders were examined with interviewer-administered questionnaires. We estimated Hazard ratios and the corresponding 95% confidence intervals from Cox Proportional Hazard models. Multivariable models were established after adjusting for center, total caloric intake, age, gender, body mass index, physical activity, education, smoking, drinking, hypertension, diabetes, total cholesterol, c-reactive protein, energy-adjusted food groups of refined grains, vegetables, fruits, meat, fish, and dairy. Results: Compared with those who had no coffee consumption, participants who had about three cups of coffee per day showed a reduced risk of all-cause mortality, after adjusting for covariates. Those who had a sleep-related disorder showed no significant effect of coffee consumption on the risk of all-cause mortality, whereas those who had no sleep-related disorders showed significantly reduced risk of all-cause mortality. Conclusions: Our findings suggested that approximately three cups of coffee per day would be beneficial to reduce the risk of all-cause mortality only among adults with no sleep-related disorders. Coffee consumption should be prudent for those with sleep-related symptoms.
The purpose of this study is to develop a system that can monitor the amounts of energy consumption during CVD and etching process for semiconductor manufacturing. Specifically, this system is designed to measure the $CO_2$ emission amounts quantitatively by measuring the flow rate of gas used and amount of power consumed during the processes. The processes of CVD equipment can be classified generally into processing step and cleaning step and all the two steps were monitored. In CVD and etcher equipments, various gases including Ar and $O_2$ are used, but Ar, $O_2$ and He were monitored with the use of the LCI data of Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute and carbon emission coefficients of EcoInvent. As a result, it was found that the carbon emission amounts of CVD equipment for Ar, $O_2$ and He were $0.030kgCO_2/min$, $4.580{\times}10^{-3}kgCO_2/min$ and $6.817{\times}10^{-4}kgCO_2/min$, respectively and those of etcher equipment for Ar and $O_2$ are $5.111{\times}10^{-3}kgCO_2/min$ and $7.172kgCO_2/min$, respectively.

In this paper, focusing on definitions of terms related to ratio (a:b, external ratio, internal ratio, percentage, proportion, bi-ui-gap(value of a:b)), elementary school mathematics textbooks of Korea and Japan are compared. We can find significant differences between Korean and Japanese textbooks. In Korean textbook, 'bi-yul' includes both of the internal ratio and the external ratio. In Japanese textbooks, the external ratio(amount of unit size) and the internal ratio(wariai) are defined independently. And a:b is set to a subconcept of the internal ratio. In addition, a:b and percentage are presented as methods to express the internal ratio. From these results, the following four implications for developing our mathematics textbooks can be presented as conclusions. First, it is necessary to limit the ratio to mean the internal ratio. Second, it is necessary to define connotatively the ratio as the internal ratio and to set it as a prior concept of a:b. Third, it is necessary to define 1% as the internal ratio 0.01. Fourth, it is necessary to define bi-ui-gap as a number for expressing a:b, when viewing a:b as the expression method of the internal ratio.
In this research, we have analyzed the impact factors on the bone mineral density thru the examination of bone density difference in the entire femur, femoral neck and lumbar of adult women before the menopause in accordance with the general features, lifestyle, eating habits, health and body composition. The survey was conducted among adult women before the menopause and older than 30 years based on the data of the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey carried out in the 4th term (2008-2009) and 5th term (2010-2011) and we would like to provide the research results for the establishment of recommendations or guidelines for the treatment of adult women before the menopause with regard to the impact factors on the bone mineral density and for the development of health education materials for the accurate measurement of bone mineral density of young women in order to prevent the postmenopausal osteoporosis. With respect to the general features of adult women before the menopause, the bone mineral density was higher in the entire femur at age 40-44, femoral neck at 35-39, in high-school education level, in the earlier menarche group, without smoking experiences, with regular walking time and exercise frequency and with the habits of eating no hamburger or pizza. With regard to the body composition, the bone mineral density was higher in obesity and lower in underweight cases, higher among people with abdominal obesity and weight control experiences. In terms of total body fat ratio, total amount of fat and muscle, the bone mineral density got gradually increased from the 1st quarter (Q1) to the 4th quarter(Q4). The obesity, disease, total amount of fat and muscle were shown to be significantly related with the bone mineral density in this research and it is required for young women to keep the adequate weight and the normal BMI in order to increase the bone mineral density. For the prevention of osteoporosis, it is advised to keep the right habits including regular exercise and no smoking discipline from the growing period and achieve the maximum bone mass thru the control of proper weight from a young age.

Studies of leisure time generally have been concentrated on the amount of time spent by each family member in Korea. In this study, the shared leisure time among family members in various leisure activities was mainly investigated. Purposes of this study were to describe how family members spent the leisure time together and to investigate the determinants that affected whether or not family shared leisure time together. The data source was the '2009 Time Use Survey' conducted by the Korea National Statistical Office. The person involved in each activity was surveyed for the first time in the survey. The data from 17,470 diaries(10,359 weekdays and 3,549 Sunday) from 8,745 individuals aged from 20 to 59 who had a spouse were analyzed. The descriptive statistics and logistic regressions were used. On average, married couples spent leisure time together with spouses 36 minutes a day on weekdays and 1 hour and 38 minutes on Sunday, respectively. Parent did with preschool children 5 minutes a day on weekdays and 15 minutes on Sunday, respectively. The shared leisure time with other family and relatives was 22 minutes a day on weekdays and 1 hour and 13 minutes on Sunday, respectively. Although there was a wide variation on the shared family leisure time by the types of activities, the main shared leisure activity was using mass media, which accounts for about two third of all shared leisure time together with family. Independent variables, including the age, sex, education level, working hours, personal income, presence of preschool children, marital status, sex role attitude, and dual or single income earner were the significant determinants of family's or couple's parent-preschool children's shared leisure time on weekdays or Sunday. Based on the results of this study, family and leisure policy were suggested to increase active family shared leisure time.
Giving behavior can be defined to be a behavior intended to benefit the society's charity works and public works via sharing one's financial resources. The determinants of giving behavior largely consist of sociodemographic factors, such as the income, age, gender, religion, education level, residential areas, and tax deduction policy, etc. This paper considers the income level, self-esteem, and perceived responsibility toward social welfare, as the major research variables. Statistical results, based on 2014 Korean Welfare Panel data, show that the income level and self-esteem have positive influence on participation intention in charitable giving. However, welfare responsibility has negative impact on participation intention. Second, household income was the only salient, negative factor for giving efforts defined as the amount of donation over income, implying that the higher income brackets are giving less money relative to their income level, than those with lower income level. Contrary to our expectation, self-esteem and welfare responsibility were not statistically significant explanatory variables.
Academic integrity guarantees the professional integrity and validity of the education and qualifications offered by the veterinary schools. In this study, we analyzed the responses of 528 veterinary students of two veterinary schools in Seoul regarding their awareness about, knowledge of, and frequency of engaging in academic misconduct. A total of 88.4 percent of the participants agreed that cheating and plagiarism by undergraduates would influence their future academic misconduct. The most common form of academic misconduct was plagiarism (71.7% in the A school, 69.5% in the B school), with falsification (40.2% in the A school, 31.7% in the B school) also reported at a high rate. Students indicated the lack of a culture of academic integrity as the main reason for academic misconduct. According to the regression analysis students' awareness and knowledge of academic integrity and their perception of peers' academic misconduct predicted a significant amount of variance of the frequency of academic misconduct. The findings of this study support that academic integrity should be learned in a flexible format from an early stage of professional development in veterinary curriculum. In parallel with the efforts of faculty, a community approach may be likely to improve the academic environment in terms of integrity.
The purpose This study aimed at proposing class module elements for creativity and convergence and class models for creativity and convergence by integrating content elements by physical activity field(health, challenge, competition, ) for physical education and STEAM. For this, literature review, focus group interview(FGI) and discussions with experts were conducted, and the following study results have been drawn up: First, concerning the class module elements for creativity and convergence, total 11 class module elements in the health field were suggested including detecting risks by posture analysis and analyzing and designing amount of physical activity. Second, total 7 module elements in the challenge field were deduced such as anticipation of obstacles to target achievement and modeling of effective exercise. There were 17 convergence elements in the competition field including game record analysis and creation of game data storage application. Third, total 9 creativity and convergence module elements in the field include modeling of technology improvement for motion and symbolization for motion records. In addition, class modules related to convergence with engineering in the health field, convergence with technology in the challenge field, convergence with art in the competition field and convergence with art and mathematical symbols were proposed.
A retrospective cohort study of low- income households was carried out on 679 mother-infant pairs to see the effect of weaning practices on growth between March, 1987 and January, 1988 in one rural area, one small city, and one big city, by measuring weight and height of children and intervewing mothers. The sample children showed a linear growth retardation from around 7 or 8 month based on WAZ and HAZ using the Korea Growth Standard. After adjusting both for birth-weight/length and morbidity effect, the ANCOVA test showed that :1) infants who were given supplements were not greater than those of not given. 2) infants who were eating supplements more frequently did not show a larger WAZ or HAZ than those of not eating or sometimes eating them. 3) The caloric intake rates of those of higher food frequencies were not greater than those of lower food frequencies. The context of nutrition education about weaning practices has to be changed stressing not only the early introduction of supplements but also the adequate amount of food intake to secure the rapid growth at this critical age.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the characteristics of the geology-related contents in the 1st~7th elementary science curriculum. Our analysis was based on the analytical frameworks of geology-related contents (the structure of the contents, the amount of teaming, the contents of the experimental activities, the transitions of the terminology, and the change in the number of illustrations). The results are as follows: 1. Consistently covered contents were limited to weathering of the rock and soil, igneous rock, sedimentary rock, metamorphic rock, and the change of the earth's, fold and fault, earthquake and volcano, geologic stratum and fossil. 2. The geological contents account for (average), 11.5% (maximum), and 5.1% (minimum) of the elementary science curriculum. Most contents covered in the curriculum were rock and soil, and the change of the earth's surface. 3. Continuously covered experimental contents were the weathering and soil, igneous rock, change of the earth's surface, geologic stratum and fossil. 4. The terminology on the rock was the most frequently changed. Whenever the curriculum changed, the addition, deletion, or renaming of terminology led to confusions. 5. In terms of the transition of illustrations, the pictures replaced the figures or diagrams as the representative illustration methods as the science or the textbook compilation skill develope. The cartoons or tables were also used increasingly in order to help the children to understand and pay attention to study.
