For the collapse of structures due to the variable repeated load, two types of collapse mechanisms, i.e., incremental collapse and alternating plasticity, exist. Under the similar variable repeated loading conditions there exists shakedown state in the structures. In shakedown state, the number of plastic hinges are not increased and all further loading will be resulted in the elastic moment changes. Namely, under the shakedown state, structures do not collapse. In this investigation, shakedown analysis are performed by composing new computer programs. Basic theories employed to compose the programs are as follows. 1. Newton-Raphson methods are added to the existing matrix method for the plastic analysis. 2. An effort to construct the stiffness of axial and bending springs attached at both ends of the member has been made. By using the programs developed, it is possible to anticipate the collapse mechanisms (Incremental collapse, alternating plasticity). Lastly for the verification of performance of the program, demonstration examples have been solved and the results are compared with other sources.
High frequency alternating current (HFAC) has been widely used in a wide range of power distribution systems (PDS) due to its superior performance. A high frequency AC/DC converter plays the role of converting HFAC voltage to DC voltage. In this paper, a new LCL-T resonant AC/DC converter has been proposed, and an easier control method based on input voltage comparison is presented, without the complicated calculation of the zero-crossing point. Both a low distortion and near-to-unity power factor can be achieved by the proposed resonant converter and control strategy. The operational principle and steady-state analysis are given for the proposed resonant converter. A simulation model and experimental prototype are implemented with an operation frequency of 25kHz and a rated power of 20W. The simulation and experimental results verify the accuracy of the analysis and the excellent performance of the proposed topology.
Magnetic Resonance Electrical Impedance Tomography(MREIT) is a new medical imaging technique for the cross-sectional conductivity distribution of a human body using both EIT(Electrical Impedance Tomography) and MRI(Magnetic Resonance Imaging) system. MREIT system was designed to enhance EIT imaging system which has inherent low sensitivity of boundary measurements to any changes of internal tissue conductivity values. MREIT utilizes a recent CDI (Current Density Imaging) technique of measuring the internal current density by means of MRI technique. In this paper, a mathematical modeling for MREIT and image reconstruction method called the alternating J-substitution algorithm are presented. Computer simulations show that the alternating J-substitution algorithm provides accurate high-resolution conductivity images.
Recently there was a proposal for a spin filter by using the spin superlattice structure. In a certain energy range, the proposed structure exhibits a high spin filtering efficiency close to 100%. Unfortunately such energy range turns out to be narrow. In this paper, we report a method to widen the energy range by using an analogy to optical anti-reflection coating. In optics, it is well known that a stack of alternating layers of two dielectric materials can function as a highly transmissive or reflective filter for wide range of wavelength. Since electrons also have wave character as light, it would be possible to make an electronic analog of an optical filter. We demonstrate that alternating layers of two materials with different g-factors can function as a spin filter that allows electrons to be transmitted only when their spins point towards a certain particular direction. This spin-superlattice-based spin filter operates in wide energy ranges, curing the problem in the previous proposal.

In this article, we propose a novel variational model for restoring color images corrupted by mixed multiplicative Gamma noise and additive Gaussian noise. The model involves a data-fidelity term that characterizes the mixed noise as an infimal convolution of two noise distributions and the saturation-value total variation (SVTV) regularization. The data-fidelity term facilitates suitable separation of the multiplicative Gamma and Gaussian noise components, promoting simultaneous elimination of the mixed noise. Furthermore, the SVTV regularization enables adequate denoising of homogeneous regions, while maintaining edges and details and diminishing the color artifacts induced by noise. To solve the proposed nonconvex model, we exploit an alternating minimization approach, and then the alternating direction method of multipliers is adopted for solving subproblems. This contributes to an efficient iterative algorithm. The experimental results demonstrate the superior performance of the proposed model compared to other existing or related models, with regard to visual inspection and image quality measurements.
In this article, an alternating Fibonacci sequence is defined from a second-order linear homogeneous recurrence relation with constant coefficients. Then, the determinant, inverse, and eigenvalues of the circulant matrices with entries in the first row having the formation of the sequence are formulated explicitly in a simple way. In this study, the method for deriving the formulation of the determinant and inverse is simply using traditional elementary row or column operations. For the eigenvalues, the known formulation from the case of general circulant matrices is simplified by considering the specialty of the sequence and using cyclic group properties. We also propose algorithms for the formulation to show how efficient the computations are.
In this study, the problem of blind signal separation for coprime planar arrays is investigated. For coprime planar arrays comprising two uniform rectangular subarrays, we link the signal separation to the tensor-based model called coupled canonical polyadic decomposition (CPD) and propose an improved coupled trilinear decomposition approach. The output data of coprime planar arrays are modeled as a coupled tensor set that can be further interpreted as a coupled CPD model, allowing a signal separation to be achieved using coupled trilinear alternating least squares (TALS). Furthermore, in the procedure of the coupled TALS, a Vandermonde structure enforcing approach is explicitly applied, which is shown to ensure fast convergence. The results of Monto Carlo simulations show that our proposed algorithm has the same separation accuracy as the basic coupled TALS but with a faster convergence speed.
There have been numerous studies on the characteristics of the solutions of ordinary differential equations for optimization methods, including gradient descent methods and alternating direction methods of multipliers. To investigate computer simulation of ODE solutions, we need to trace pseudo-orbits by real orbits and it is called shadowing property in dynamics. In this paper, we demonstrate that the flow induced by the alternating direction methods of multipliers (ADMM) for a C2 strongly convex objective function has the eventual shadowing property. For the converse, we partially answer that convexity with the eventual shadowing property guarantees a unique minimizer. In contrast, we show that the flow generated by a second-order ODE, which is related to the accelerated version of ADMM, does not have the eventual shadowing property.
There is currently a regain of interest in ADI (Alternating Direction Implicit) method as a preconditioner for iterative Method for solving large sparse linear systems, because of its suitability for parallel computation. However the classical ADI is not applicable to FE(Finite Element) matrices. In this paper wer propose a Block-ADI method, which is applicable to Finite Element metrices. The new approach is a combination of classical ADI method and domain decompositi on. Also, we provide a partial proof of the convergence based on the results from the regular splittings, in case the discretization metrix is symmetric positive definite.
