  • An opportunistic interference alignment based on dynamic cell selection is proposed. Since the proposed method can switch the desired signal space and the interference space of received signals, an additional selective diversity gain increases. The performance analysis using probabilistic models provides a mathematical expression for the sum-rate capacity. Simulation examples show that the proposed method achieves the higher sum-rate capacity than that of the conventional opportunistic interference alignment.

  • We studied liquid crystal (LC) alignment with ion beam (IB) on polyimide and electro-optical characteristics of twisted nematic (TN)-liquid crystal display (LCD) on the polyimide surface using obliquely ion beam exposure. A good uniform alignment of the nematic liquid crystal (NLC) alignment with the ion beam exposure on the polyimide surface was observed. In addition, it can be achieved the good EO properties, and residual DC property of the ion-beam-aligned TN-LCD on polyimide surface.

  • A new photo-polymer material of the copoly (PM4Ch-ChMA), copoly (poly (4-methacryloyloxy)chalcone-cholesteryl methacrylate) for homeotropic alignment was synthesized and the electro-optical (EO) performance for the photo-aligned vertical-aligned (VA)-LC display (LCD) was studied. Good thermal stabilities of synthesized copolymer were obtained by TGA(Thermogravimetric Analysis) measurement. Good voltage-transmittance (V-T) and response time characteristics for the photo-aligned VA-LCD with polarized UV exposure in oblique direction($\theta$$_{i}$=30$^{\circ}$) on a copolymer-1 (2%) surfaces for 1 min were observed. but, light leakage in the off-state was observed. Therefore, we achieved excellent V-T and response time characteristics for the photo-aligned VA-LCD with UV exposure on a copolymer-3 (30%) surfaces for 3 min.n.

  • The nematic liquid crysta](NLC) aligning capabilities using a-C:H thin film deposited at the three kinds of rf bias condition were investigated. A high pretilt angle of NLC on low substrate rf bias applied a-C:H thin films was observed and the low pretilt angle of the NLC on high substrate rf bias applied a-C:H thin films was observed. Consequently, the high NLC pretilt angle and the good aligning capabilities of LC alignment by the IB alignment method on the a-C:H thin film deposited at 1 W rf bias condition can be achieved. It is considered that pretilt angle of the NLC may be attributed to substrate rf bias condition and IB energy time. Therefore, LC alignment is affected by topographical structure forming strong IB energy.

  • In this study, a dicing machine with vision system was built and an algorithm for automatic alignment was developed for dual camera system. The system had a macro and a micro inspection tool. The algorithm was formulated from geometric relations. When a wafer was put on the cutting stage within certain range, it was inspected by vision system and compared with a standard pattern. The difference between the patterns was analyzed and evaluated. Then, the stage was moved by x, y, $\theta$ axes to compensate these differences. The amount of compensation was calculated from the result of the vision inspection through the automatic alignment algorithm. The stage was moved to the compensated position and was inspected by vision for checking its result again. Accuracy and validity of the algorithm was discussed from these data.

  • Previous alignment optimization models have not adequately considered intersections and other structures such as bridges, tunnels, grade separations and interchanges which can very strongly affect alignment decisions. This paper develops comprehensive cost functions for intersections and other structures and incorporates them in recently developed highway alignment optimization models connected with genetic algorithms and geographical information systems. The result is a fast and computerized process for extracting, analyzing spatial data, evaluating candidate alignments and optimizing them. A method for locally optimizing intersections is also developed. It improves search flexibility by saving good alignments whose unacceptable crossing angles with existing roads can be fixed, Through case studies, the developed model is found to produce feasible and efficient solutions.

  • The fiber optic communication technology is considered as a key solution for the future communication. However the assembly of the fiber optic components highly depends on manual or semi-automated alignment process. And the light search algorithm is recognized an important factor to reduce the manufacturing process time. Therefore this paper investigates optimal search algorithm for the automatic alignment of fiber optic components. The experiments show the effectiveness of Hill Climbing Search, Adaptive Hill Climbing Search and Steepest Search algorithms, in a view of process time.

  • The purpose of data fusion is collecting maximized information from combining the data attained from more than two same or different kind sensor systems. Data fusion of same kind sensor systems like optical imagery has been on focus, but recently, LIDAR emerged as a new technology for capturing rapidally data on physical surfaces and the high accuray results derived from the LIDAR data. Considering the nature of aerial imagery and LIDAR data, it is clear that the two systems provide complementary information. Data fusion is consisted of two steps, alignment and matching. However, the complementary information can only be fully utilized after sucessful alignment of the aerial imagery and lidar data. In this research, deal with centroid of building extracted from lidar data as control information for estimating exterior orientation parameters of aerial imagery relative to the LIDAR reference frame.

  • This paper analyzes interference alignment in the two-way relay network with compute-and-forward in both single relay and multiple relays networks. The advantages of compute-and-forward over other relaying strategies are that it can relay only linear combinations of the useful signals and remove the noise. The algorithm proposed in this paper adopts the criterion of maximum SINR to derive the pre-coding matrix. The experimental results show that the performance of interference alignment in two-way relay channel via compute-and-forward is better than that of amplify-and-forward, and the total sum rate in the two-way multiple relay networks is larger than that in the two-way single relay networks.

  • This paper presents a new sequence alignment method using the divide approach, which solves the problem by decomposing sequence alignment into several sub-alignments with respect to exact matching subsequences. Exact matching subsequences in the proposed method are bounded on the generalized suffix tree of two sequences, such as protein domain length more than 7 and less than 7. Experiment results show that protein sequence pairs chosen in PFAM database can be aligned using this method. In addition, this method reduces the time about 15% and space of the conventional dynamic programming approach. And the sequences were classified with 94% of accuracy.
