열적 증착법을 이용한 air-bridge 제작과 그 응용에 관한 연구 (Studies on Air-bridge fabrication using thermal evaporation method and its aplication)

  • In this paper, a simple fabrication technique of an air-bridge for interconnection of isolated electrodes of microwave active and passive devices and MMIC's is proposed. The proposed air-bridge proceses are mainly combinations of thermal evaporation, positive photoresist and image reversal processes for easy lift-off of up to 2.0 .mu.m thick metal. According to the resutls of air-birdge processes, it is confirmed that air-gap and thickness of theair-bridge are about 3.5.mu.m, and 2.0.mu.m, respectively. And it is also possible to make the fine air-bridge with widths of 5~60.mu.m and post-intervals of 25~200.mu.m withot collapse. finally, GaAs power MESFET's and rectangular spiral inductors are fabricatd and measured in order to confirm of feasibility of the proposed air-bridge processes. The MAG of the fabricated power MESFET's is 10dB at 10GHz, and the inductance of the (200.mu. * 6 turns) rectangular spiral inductors 4.5 nH inX-band.

  • The air bridge that connects an airplane with air terminal is important facilities that help people get in and out an airplane safely and conveniently. As the number of people who takes airplane has been increasing, an unexpected accident or a disorder on an air bridge can lead to the loss of passenger's lives or a great damage of airplane. This paper suggests a method to secure the safety of an air bridge.

다공질 실리콘 산화막 Air-Bridge 기판 위에 제작된 MMIC용 공면 전송선 (Coplanar Waveguides Fabricated on Oxidized Porous Silicon Air-Bridge for MMIC Application)

  • 본 논문에서는 실리콘 기판상의 전송선로 특성을 개선하기 위하여 표면 마이크로머시닝 기술과 새로운 산화법(H₂O/O₂ 분위기에서 500℃, 1시간 열산화와 1050℃, 2 분간 RTO(Rapid Thermal Oxidation) 공정)을 이용하여 10 ㎛ 두께의 다공질 실리콘 산화막(oxidized porous silicon:OPS) air-bridge 기판 위에 공면 전송선로(Coplanar Waveguide:CPW)를 제작하였다. 간격이 40 ㎛ 신호선이 20 ㎛ 전송선 길이가 2.2 mm인 CPW air-bridge 전송선의 삽입손실은 4 GH에서 -0.28 dB이며, 반사손실은 -22.3 유를 나타내었다. OPS air-bridge 위에 형성된 CPW의 손실이 OPS층 위에 형성된 CPW의 삽입손실보다 약 1 dB 정도 적은 것을 보여주었으며, 반사손실은 35 GHz 범위에서 약 -20 dB를 넘지 않고 있다. 이와 같은 결과로부터 두꺼운 다공질 실리콘 멤브레인 및 air-bridge 구조는 고 저항 실리콘 집적회로 공정에서 고성능, 저가의 마이크로파 및 밀리미터파 회로 응용에 충분히 활용 될 수 있으리라 기대된다.

  • 본 논문에서는 실리콘 기판상의 전송선로 특성을 개선하기 위하여 표면 마이크로머시닝 기술을 이용하여 10㎛ 두께의 다공질 실리콘 산화막으로 제조된 기판 위에 air-bridge interconnect된 CPW 전송선로를 제작하였다. 간격이 30㎛ 신호선이 80㎛인 CPW air-bridge 전송선의 삽입손실은 4㎓에서 -0.25 ㏈이며, 반사손실은 -28.9 ㏈를 나타내었다. S-W-S = 30-100-30 ㎛인 stepped compensated air-bridge를 가진 CPW는 손실이 4㎓일 때, -0.98 ㏈ 개선됨을 알 수 있었다. 이와 같은 결과로부터 두꺼운 다공질 실리콘은 고 저항 실리콘 집적회로 공정에서 고성능, 저가의 마이크로파 및 밀리미터파 회로 응용에 충분히 활용 될 수 있으리라 기대된다.

CPW PHEMT의 에어브리지에 의한 이득 감소 현상에 대한 연구 (The study of RF gain reduction due to air-bridge for CPW PHEMT's)

  • 에어브리지의 기생 커패시턴스의 영향을 분석하기 위해 CPW PHEMT의 기존 cold-FET 회로모델에 게이트-에어브리지의 기생 커패시턴스(C/sub ag/)차 드레인-에어브리지의 기생 커패시턴스(C/sub ad/)를 더해주었다. 또한 제안된 모델을 사용하여 소자의 parameter들을 추출하여, 그 존재를 확인하였다. 본 논문에서는 에어브리지에 의해 생성되는 기생 커패시턴스의 영향을 연구하기 위해 에어브리지의 여러 연결방법을 CPW PHEMT 제작에 접목시켰다. 또한 핀치오프상태의 cold-FET에 대한 개선된 등가회로 모델을 제시하여 에어브리지에 의한 기생 커패시턴스가 소자 특성에 어떤 영향을 주는 가를 분석하였다. 제작된 CPW PHEMT의 측정 결과로부터, 기생 커패시턴스 C/sub ag/와 C/sub ad/가 소자의 S/sub 21/ 이득을 감소시키는 중요한 요소임을 확인하였다.

PFC Bridge Converter for Voltage-controlled Adjustable-speed PMBLDCM Drive

  • In this paper, a buck DC-DC bridge converter is used as a power factor correction (PFC) converter for feeding a voltage source inverter (VSI) based permanent magnet brushless DC motor (PMBLDCM) drive. The front end of the PFC converter is a diode bridge rectifier (DBR) fed from single phase AC mains. The PMBLDCM is used to drive the compressor of an air conditioner through a three-phase voltage source inverter (VSI) fed from a variable voltage DC link. The speed of the air conditioner is controlled to conserve energy using a new concept of voltage control at a DC link proportional to the desired speed of the PMBLDC motor. Therefore, VSI operates only as an electronic commutator of the PMBLDCM. The current of the PMBLDCM is controlled by setting the reference voltage at the DC link as a ramp. The proposed PMBLDCM drive with voltage control-based PFC converter was designed and modeled. The performance is simulated in Matlab-Simulink environment for an air conditioner compressor load driven through a 3.75 kW, 1500 rpm PMBLDC motor. To validate the effectiveness of the proposed speed control scheme, the evaluation results demonstrate improved efficiency of the complete drive with the PFC feature in a wide range of speed and input AC voltage.

Assessment of environmental effects in scour monitoring of a cable-stayed bridge simply based on pier vibration measurements

  • A recent work by the authors has demonstrated the feasibility of scour evaluation for Kao-Ping-Hsi Cable-Stayed Bridge simply based on ambient vibration measurements. To further attain the goal of scour monitoring, a key challenge comes from the interference of several environmental factors that may also significantly alter the pier frequencies without the change of scour depth. Consequently, this study attempts to investigate the variation in certain modal frequencies of this bridge induced by several environmental factors. Four sets of pier vibration measurements were taken either during the season of plum rains, under regular summer days without rain, or in a period of typhoon. These signals are analyzed with the stochastic subspace identification and empirical mode decomposition techniques. The variations of the identified modal frequencies are then compared with those of the corresponding traffic load, air temperature, and water level. Comparison of the analyzed results elucidates that both the traffic load and the environmental temperature are negatively correlated with the bridge frequencies. However, the traffic load is clearly a more dominant factor to alternate the identified bridge deck frequency than the environmental temperature. The pier modes are also influenced by the passing traffic on the bridge deck, even though with a weaker correlation. In addition, the variation of air temperature follows a similar tendency as that of the passing traffic, but its effect on changing the bridge frequencies is obviously not as significant. As for the effect from the alternation of water level, it is observed that the frequency baselines of the pier modes may positively correlate with the water level during the seasons of plum rains and typhoon.

대면적 AMLCD의 신호 지연 감소를 위해 Air-gap을 갖는 게이트-데이터 라인 교차 구조 (A Novel Air-Bridge Type Gate-Data Line Inter-Crossing to Reduce Signal Delay for Large Size AMLCD)

  • A new TFT-LCD panel with air-bridge type gate to data line inter-crossing has been proposed and its characteristics have been measured. The proposed structure has air-gap between gate and data line inter-crossing. This air-bridge TFT-LCD panel has very small capacitance between gate and data line. The new panes structure achieves 9 times fast signal propagation compared with conventional panel, which enables to have enough design margin for 20-inch diagonal and larger size UXGA panel. We have examined thermal and mechanical durability of new panel to verify applicability for commercial AMLCD production. After TEOS and polyimide passivation, this panel withstood a thermal stress at $250^{\circ}C$ and a mechanical stress during the rubbing process.

  • An acoustic finite element model of a bridge is developed to evaluate the noise generated by the traffic-induced vibration of the bridge. The dynamic response of a multi-girder bridge, modeled by a 3-dimensional frame element model, is analyzed with a 3-axle(8DOF) truck model and a 5-axle(l3DOF) semi-trailer. The flat plate element is used to analyze the acoustic pressure due to the fluid-structure interactions between the vibrating surface and contiguous acoustic fluid medium. The radiation fields of noise with a specified distribution of vibrating velocity and pressure on the structural surface are also computed using the Kirchhoff-Helmholtz integral. In an attempt to illustrate the influence of the structural vibration noise of a bridge to total noise level around the bridge, the random function is used to generate the vehicle noise source including the engine noise and the rolling noise interacting between the road and tire. Among the diverse parameters affecting the dynamic response of bridge, the vehicle velocity, the vehicle weight, the spatial distribution of the road surface roughness, the stiffness degradation of the bridge and the variation of the air temperature changing the air density are found to be the main factors that increase the level of vibration noise. Consequently, The amplification rate of noise increases with the traveling speed and the vehicle weight.

  • 본 논문에서는 CPW(Coplanar waveguide)-to-microstrip right-angled 전이 구조에 대해서 해석하였다. 일반적으로 비대칭적인 CPW-to-microstrip 전이 구조는 불연속점에서 발생한 slot모드로 인해 심각한 공진이 발생한다. 공진 발생을 억제하기 위해서 일반적으로 많이 사용하는 air-bridge는 공진 발생을 근본적으로 제거시키지 못하고, 단지 공진 주파수만 이동시킨다. 따라서, 본 논문에서는 공진 발생을 제거하기 위해 offset microstrip을 사용하는 구조를 제안하였다. 제안된 구조는 불연속점에서 대칭을 유지함으로써 공진 발생 원인을 근본적으로 제거한 구조로 회로의 직접도가 높은 다층 기판에서 효과적으로 사용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
