  • With the recent trend to construct high-rise and large buildings, the steel structure system is widely used, but there are not enough studies on the vibration characteristics of the iFLASH system on the buildings. Therefore, in this study, we performed a vibration measurement of the natural frequency and damping ratio in the stage of iFLASH panel, composit, frame completion and cladding completion. The result findings suggest that the damping ratio after the cladding completion has a greater effect on the reduction of the damping ratio, than the stage after the frame completion.

  • The purposes of this study were to develop self- growth program for children and to testify the effect of the program. For these purposes self- growth program for children was developed and then 83 5th grade children in elementary school were tested with interpersonal strategies scales and school adjustment scales. Out of 83 children, 20 children with lower grades became subjects. They are retested after completing the program. The methods for data analyses included t-test and 2×2 two - way ANOVA The children's interpersonal strategies and school adjustment scores increased after participation in the program. Sex difference didn't manifest.

  • Poly(ethylene terephthalate)(PET) tire cord has relatively lower adhesion properties caused by limited reacting sites. In order to improve the adhesion force between PET tire cord and rubber, an additional process to activate surface of PET has been employed. Atmospheric plasma was used to substitute the chemical finishing process of PET tire cord as a green dipping process. Contact angle was measured to confirm surface change of PET after plasma treatment. The treated PET tire cords with/without resorcinol-formaldehyde-latex(RFL) and unvulcanized rubber were vulcanized in a testing mold at $160^{\circ}C$. After atmospheric plasma treatment of PET tire cord, adhesion force was somewhat increased under some conditions.

  • In late 19C, German mathematician Felix Klein declaired "Erlangen program" to reform mathematics education in Germany. The main ideas of "Erlangen program" contain the importance of instructing the concepts of functions and groups in school mathematics. After one century from that time, the importance of concepts of groups revived by Bourbaki in the sense of the algebraic structure which is the most important structure among three structures of mathematics - algebraic structure. ordered structure and topological structure. Since then, many mathematicians and mathematics educators devoted to work with the concepts of group for school mathematics. This movement landed on Korea in 21C, and now, the concepts of groups appeared in element mathematics text as plane rigid motion. In this paper, we state the rigid motions centered the symmetry - an important notion in group theory, then summarize the results obtained from some classroom activities. After that, we discuss the responses of children to concepts of groups.of groups.

  • A 2-month-old female Abyssinian cat was presented with a severe ascites, cyanosis, and exercise intolerance. Diagnostic studies revealed V/VI holosystolic murmur, sinus tachycardia, generalized cardiomegaly with marked left atrial enlargement and shunt flow between left and right ventricles. Doppler study showed bi-directional shunts in rest and right-to-left shunt after exercise. Based on clinical signs and diagnostic findings, the cat was diagnosed as a reversed ventricular septal defect. The cat was treated with furosemide, nitroglycerine, dobutamine and oxygen supplement. Despite initial improvement of clinical signs after initiation of medical treatment, the cat died of sudden cardiac arrest. Necropsy revealed a perimembranous ventricular septal defect.

  • We present a case of delayed oral extrusion of a screw after anterior cervical interbody fusion in a 68-year-old man with osteoporosis. Fifteen months earlier, he had undergone C5 corpectomy and anterior cervical interbody fusion at C4-6 for multiple spinal stenoses. The patient was nearly asymptomatic, except for a foreign body sensation in his throat. We conclude that the use of a mesh graft or other instrument in elderly patients and those with osteoporosis or problematic bone quality should be considered carefully and that if surgery were to be performed, periodic postoperative follow-up evaluations are mandatory.

  • The authors report a case of 42-year-old woman with an intraventricular tumor in the trigone of the left lateral ventricle. The first operation achieved a microscopically complete resection. The tumor was histologically atypical meningioma. After 26 months, there were recurrences of intraventricular meningioma. Complete resection of the tumor and adjuvant radiation therapy were performed, and the histological diagnosis was malignant meningioma. Sixteen months after the second operation, spinal metastasis in cervicolumbar lesion was diagnosed and a subtotal removal of cervical intradural extramedullary mass was performed. We describe an unusual case of intraventricular malignant meningioma with cerebrospinal fluid-disseminated spinal metastases with review of the clinical courses of previous reports.

  • Spontaneous spinal epidural hematoma (SSEH) is rare in children. especially in infants, in whom only 12 cases have been reported. Because of the nonspecificity of presenting symptoms in children, the diagnosis may be delayed. We report herein a case of SSEH in a 20-month-old girl who initially presented with neck pain, and developed lower extremity motor weakness and symptoms of neurogenic bladder 2 weeks prior to admission. The magnetic resonance imaging showed an epidural mass lesion extending from C7 to T4, and the spinal cord was severely compressed by the mass. After emergency decompressive surgery the neurologic function was improved immediately. Two months after surgery, the neurological status was normal with achievement of spontaneous voiding. We suggest that surgical intervention can provide excellent prognosis in case of SSEH in infants, even if surgery delayed.

  • Hematomas caused by ruptured traumatic pseudoaneurysms of the middle meningeal artery (MMA) usually present with extradural hematomas, whereas intradural intraparenchymal hematomas are extremely rare. We report a case of traumatic pseudoaneurysm of the MMA giving rise to an intracerebral hematoma after head trauma. A 70-year-old man suffered a massive intracerebral temporoparietal hemorrhage after a head injury. CT angiogram of the brain revealed a large hematoma in the right middle cranial fossa extending to the right sylvian fissure. Cerebral angiogram also revealed a pseudoaneurysm of the MMA, which was successfully treated surgically. Although traumatic MMA pseudoaneurysm producing intracerebral hematoma (ICH) is rare, it should be considered as a possible cause of intracerebral hematoma.

  • Decompressive craniectomy is usually performed to relieve raised intracranial pressure[ICP] caused by various intracranial lesions. A 67-year-old man presented with acute subdural hematoma and traumatic intracerebral hematoma. The patient underwent a decompressive craniectomy. Four weeks later, the patient presented with acute neurological deterioration. Brain computed tomographic[CT] scans revealed the marked concavity of the brain at the site of the craniectomy and associated with midline shift which was reversed by cranioplasty. We report an unusual case of cerebral herniation from intracranial hypotension after decompressive craniectomy for a traumatic subdural hematoma. The cranioplasty may be helpful to prevent paradoxial cerebral herniation.
