해저터널용 복합신소재 배수복합관 부재의 정적거동에 관한 실험적 연구 (An experimental study on the static behavior of advanced composite materials drainage pipe member for an undersea tunnel)

  • 해저터널용 복합신소재 배수관구조를 설계하기 위해서는 복합신소재 구조부재의 적층형태별 역학적 성질을 결정하는 것이 필수적이다. 복합신소재는 일반적으로 등방성 재료와 달리 치수효과가 매우 큰 것으로 알려져 있다. 본 연구에서는 복합신소재 부재의 적층형태별 인장시험을 상온($20^{\circ}C$)과 해수온도($0^{\circ}C$)에서 각각 수행하였다. 또한, 이론적 해석방법인 혼합물의 법칙과 탄성해법을 적용하여 재료의 역학적 성질을 추정하고 시험결과와 비교를 하였다. 해저터널 복합신소재 배수관 구조부재를 설계할 때 사용되는 역학적 성질의 값은 상온에서 얻어진 값을 보정하여 적용하여야 된다. 이러한 자료는 향후 해저터널용 복합신소재 배수관구조의 설계의 기초자료로 제공하고자 하였다.

Verification of a computer-aided replica technique for evaluating prosthesis adaptation using statistical agreement analysis

  • PURPOSE. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the reliability of computer-aided replica technique (CART) by calculating its agreement with the replica technique (RT), using statistical agreement analysis. MATERIALS AND METHODS. A prepared metal die and a metal crown were fabricated. The gap between the restoration and abutment was replicated using silicone indicator paste (n = 25). Gap measurements differed in the control (RT) and experimental (CART) groups. In the RT group, the silicone replica was manually sectioned, and the marginal and occlusal gaps were measured using a microscope. In the CART group, the gap was digitized using optical scanning and image superimposition, and the gaps were measured using a software program. The agreement between the measurement techniques was evaluated by using the 95% Bland-Altman limits of agreement and concordance correlation coefficients (CCC). The least acceptable CCC was 0.90. RESULTS. The RT and CART groups showed linear association, with a strong positive correlation in gap measurements, but without significant differences. The 95% limits of agreement between the paired gap measurements were 3.84% and 7.08% of the mean. The lower 95% confidence limits of CCC were 0.9676 and 0.9188 for the marginal and occlusal gap measurements, respectively, and the values were greater than the allowed limit. CONCLUSION. The CART is a reliable digital approach for evaluating the fit accuracy of fixed dental prostheses.

무선 멀티미디어 센서 네트워크에서 효율적인 이미지 전송을 위한 웨이블릿 기반 압축 기법 (Wavelet Based Compression Technique for Efficient Image Transmission in the Wireless Multimedia Sensor Networks)

  • 저가형 이미지 센서 기술의 발전과 무선 센서 네트워크 기술의 발전으로 인해 WMSN(Wireless Multimedia Sensor Networks) 기술이 활발히 연구되고 있다. WMSN은 기존의 무선 센서 네트워크 기술에 멀티미디어 컨텐츠를 센싱하고 전송 및 처리하는 기반기술을 포함한다. 멀티미디어 컨텐츠는 많은 데이터량을 가지므로 이를 처리하기 위해서는 많은 컴퓨팅 자원과 높은 네트워크 대역폭을 필요로 한다. 저사양의 센서 노드에서 멀티미디어 컨텐츠를 수용하기 위해서는 컴퓨팅 자원을 고려한 압축 기법 및 효율적인 전송에 대한 연구가 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 무선 센서 네트워크에서 이미지를 효율적으로 압축하고 전송하기 위한 압축기법인 YWCE기법을 제안한다. YWCE는 웨이블릿의 Resolution Scalability 특성을 이용한 4가지 움직임 보상/예측 기법을 도입한다. 실험을 통하여 4가지 각 압축 기법들의 조합에 따라 매우 높은 성능을 나타냄을 보였다.

지상시험장비를 통한 우주발사체 고공환경모사 기법 연구 (High-Altitude Environment Simulation of Space Launch Vehicle in a Ground-Test Facility)

  • 우주발사체 고공환경모사의 실험적 연구는 우주발사체 발사 및 임무완수에 대한 독자적 기술력 확보를 위해 중요하다. 본 연구는 한국형발사체(Korean Space Launch Vehicle; KSLV-II)의 발사 후 마하수 6을 돌파하는 고도 65 km 조건을 선정하였다. 지상시험장비중 하나인 충격파 터널을 이용하여 고공환경모사를 수행하였다. 유동발달 이후 공기열역학적 특성과 수직 및 경사충격파 확인을 위해 선두부 모델의 정체 압력과 정체 열 유량, 그리고 반구형상 모델의 충격파 이탈거리 측정을 통해 유동검증을 수행하였다. 추가적으로 발사체 측면과 저부면 현상연구에 사용되는 시험모델의 자유류 회복을 위한 충격파 상쇄 기법을 개발 및 검증하였다. 세 가지 유동검증 결과를 통해 이론값과 약 ${\pm}3%$ 이내의 오차를 갖는 정확한 유동이 발달되었음을 확인하였다. 그리고 충격파 상쇄기법을 갖는 천이구간 축소 모델의 경사충격파 경사각과 수평 평판모델의 경사각, 그리고 모델 측면 정압력의 실험값과 이론값의 오차가 각각 2%, 그리고 1% 으로 확인되었으며, 이를 통해 해당 충격파 상쇄 기법의 합리적인 효과가 검증되었다.

Effect of Heat Treatment Conditions on Corrosion and Hydrogen Diffusion Behaviors of Ultra-Strong Steel Used for Automotive Applications

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the influence of conditions for quenching and/or tempering on the corrosion and hydrogen diffusion behavior of ultra-strong automotive steel in terms of the localized plastic strain related to the dislocation density, and the precipitation of iron carbide. In this study, a range of analytical and experimental methods were deployed, such as field emission-scanning electron microscopy, electron back scatter diffraction, electrochemical permeation technique, slow-strain rate test (SSRT), and electrochemical polarization test. The results showed that the hydrogen diffusion parameters involving the diffusion kinetics and hydrogen solubility, obtained from the permeation experiment, could not be directly indicative of the resistance to hydrogen embrittlement (HE) occurring under the condition with low hydrogen concentration. The SSRT results showed that the partitioning process, leading to decrease in localized plastic strain and dislocation density in the sample, results in a high resistance to HE-induced by aqueous corrosion. Conversely, coarse iron carbide, precipitated during heat treatment, weakened the long-term corrosion resistance. This can also be a controlling factor for the development of ultra-strong steel with superior corrosion and HE resistance.

평판 위 흐름 Defect Law 영역의 난류 특성 연구 (Investigation of Turbulence Characteristics of Defect Law Region over Flat plate)

  • To investigate the turbulence characteristics within the boundary layer over a flat plate, an experimental study was performed using a PIV technique in a circular water channel. For two water velocities, 0.92 and 1.99 m/s, the water velocity profiles were taken and analyzed to determine turbulent characteristics such as the Reynolds stress, Taylor micro-length scale, and Kolmogorov length scale within the defect law region of the boundary layer. These analysis methods may be applied to research on the friction drag reduction technology using micro-bubbles or an air sheet over the surface of a ship's hull, because the physical reason for the friction drag reduction could be found by understanding the variation of the turbulence characteristics and structures in the boundary layer.

유전 알고리듬을 이용한 매니퓰레이터 조인트의 마찰력 규명 및 실험적 검증 (Manipulator Joint Friction Identification using Genetic Algorithm and its Experimental Verification)

  • Like many other mechanical dynamic systems, flexible manipulator systems experience stiction or sticking friction, which may cause input-dependent instabilities. Manipulator performance can be enha nced by identifying friction but it is hard and expensive to measure friction by direct and precise sensing of contact displacements and forces. This study addresses the problem of identifying flexible manipulator joint friction. A dynamic model of a two-link flexible manipulator based upon finite element and Lagrange's method is constructed. The dynamic model includes the effects of joint compliances and actuator dynamics. Friction is also incorporated in the dynamic model to account for stick-slip at the joints. Next, the friction parameters are to be determined. The identification problem is posed as an optimization problem to be solved using nonlinear programming methods. A genetic algorithm is used to increase the convergence rate and the chances of finding the global optimum. The identified friction parameters are experimentally verified and it is expected that the identification technique is applicable to a system parameter identification problem associated with a wide class of nonlinear systems.

하드디스크 드라이브 액추에이터 시스템의 수학적 모델 (Mathematical Model of Hard Disk Drive Actuator System)

  • We obtain the mathematical model of the hard disk drive actuator system the system response data of the finite element analysis or experimental results. The model is base on the Rayleigh-Ritz method to approximate the dynamic response of the actuator system. The basic idea is to use the curve-fit technique to obtain the approximation coefficients. It allows the dynamic analysis of the actuator system without resort to the repetitive finite element modeling work. Even though the dynamic characteristics of the system of the system are affected somewhat by the structural modification and the change of the material properties, we can use the modified size and dynamic properties of the actuator system in the mathematical model to some extent. In this study, we express the mathematical model of the simplified rectangular plate first and then proceed to the actual hard disk drive actuator system.

Self-positioning fusion system based on estimation of relative coordinates

  • Recently, indoor navigation has been applied in large convention centers by using wireless sensor networks (WSNs), which provide not only a user's path to be traveled but also orientation and shopping information to increase user's convenience. This paper presents the localization system for estimating relative coordinates without pre-deployment of the reference node based on ultra wide band (UWB) ranging system, which is relatively suitable for indoor localization compared to other wireless communications, and azimuth sensor. The proposed localization system which consists of an azimuth sensor and a mobile node composed of three nodes estimates relative coordinates of the reference node without applying any recursive and time consumption algorithms. Also, in the process of estimating relative coordinates of the reference node, ranging errors are minimized through the proposed technique and the number of nodes can be reduced. Experimental results show the feasibility and validity of the proposed system.

Measurement of Effective Refractive Index of Anodic Aluminum Oxide Using a Prism Coupler

  • In recent years, Anodic aluminum oxide(AAO) has become popular and attractive materials. It can be easily fabricated and self-organized pore structures. It has been widely used as a biosensor membrane, photonic crystal for optical circuit and template for nanotube growth etc. In previous papers, the theory was developed that AAO shows anisotropic optical properties, since it has anisotropic structure with numerous cylindrical pores. It gives rise to the anisotropy of the refractive index called as birefringence. It can be used as conventional polarizing elements with high efficiency and low cost. Therefore, we would like to compare the theory and experimental results in this study. One method which can measure effective refractive index of thin film is the prism coupling technique. It can give accurate results fast and simply. Furthermore, we can also measure separately the refractive index with different polarization using polarization of the laser (TE mode and TM mode). We calculated the effective refractive index with effective medium approximations (EMAs) by pore size in the SEM image. EMAs are physical models that describe the macroscopic system as the homogeneous and typical method of all mean field theories.
