  • An adaptive code rate change scheme in DS-SSMA systems is proposed. In the proposed scheme, the error correcting code rate is changed according to the channel state, the effective number of users. The channel state is estimated based on retransmission requests. The criterion for the change of the code rate is to maximize the throughput under given error bound.

  • A nonlinear dynamic optimization has been performed for reactor power control system of CANDU 6 nuclear power plant considering xenon, fuel and moderator temperature feedback effects. Integral-of-Time-multiplied Absolute-Error (ITAE) criterion has been used as a performance index of the system behavior. Optimum controller gain are found by searching algorithm of Sequential Quadratic Programming (SQP). System models are referenced from most recent literatures. Signal flow network construction and optimization have been done by using commercial computer software package.

  • Ni tapes were textured by taking advantage of their secondary recrystallization. The obtained 18cm long tapes had textures of single crystalline qualities with their [001] axes tilted with respect to the surface and their [010] axes parallel to the rolling direction. YBCO/CeO$_2$/YSZ/CeO$_2$ films grown on the Ni tape had the same crystalline orientations. Magnetic field dependent I-V relations were measured on a 5cm section of the tape. Jc defined by 1mV criterion was 1.5 ${\times}$ 10$^5$A/cm$^2$ at 77K under zero field and was reduced by ${\sim}$50% under the applied magnetic field of 5T.

  • This paper presents an efficient algorithm for finding a new facility(center) in the Euclidean plane in accordance with minimax criterion: that is, the facility is located to minimize the maximum weighted Euclidean distance. The method given in this paper involves computational geometry. Some possible extensions of this problem are also discussed.

  • In this paper, interference analysis is carried out to obtain the operating criterion and coexistence condition between digital television devices and cognitive radio-based mobile wimax devices in the UHF (Ultra High Frequency) broadcasting frequency bands. To this end, an efficient interfering calculation tool known as SEAMCAT (Spectrum Engineering Advanced Monte-Carlo Analysis Tool) is employed to acquire the coexistence criterions between heterogeneous radio links operating in the same portion of spectrum. As a result, these criterions will be used to achieve interference temperature limit level applied to interference temperature model for analyzing the capacity of cognitive radio receivers accurately.

  • In this paper, based on a detection criterion proposed recently, we investigate the performance of selective rake receivers (SRRs) in fading environment exhibiting impulsive nature. Optimum and suboptimum SRRs for the impulsive fading channel are derived, and suboptimum SRRs with reduced complexity are obtained for practical purposes. Simulation results confirm that, when the noise is impulsive the SRRs designed for impulsive noise offer performance improvement over those optimized for Gaussian environment. The suboptimum SRR is observed to exhibit almost the same performance as the optimum SRR.

  • Ni tapes were textured by taking advantage of their secondary recrystallization. The obtained 18cm long tapes had textures of single crystalline qualities with their [001] axes tilted with respect to the surface and their [010] axes parallel to the rolling direction. The reproducibility of this texturing was checked by taking statistics on the crystal orientations of 24 Ni tapes. $YBCO/CeO_2/YSZ/CeO_2$ films grown on the Ni tape had the same crystalline orientations. Magnetic field dependent I-V relations were measured on a 5cm section of the tape. $J_c$ defined by $20{\mu}V/mm$ criterion was $1.5\times10^5A/cm^2$ at 77K under zero field and was reduced by $\sim$50% under the applied magnetic field of 5T.

  • In this study, the performance assessment criterion for reasonable maintenance of shield TBM tunnel was presented. The performance assessment items such as crack, leakage, breakage, spalling, exfoliation/detachment, efflorescence, quality condition, exposure of steel, carbonation, faulting step, bolts condition, drainage condition, ground condition, contact section condition and conduit condition were selected by analyzing domestic and foreign performance assessment criterions and investigating segment lining deterioration cases through the site investigation and in-depth inspection analysis result on the shield TBM tunnel. In addition, the reasonable weight using AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) were estimated.
