  • In the past, research has been conducted on the development of an adaptive cruise control algorithm considering fuel efficiency, and an adaptive cruise control system considering fuel efficiency have been developed. However, research on optimizing vehicle and adaptive cruise control parameters in order to maximize performances is insufficient. In this study, the design optimization of vehicle and control parameters considering fuel efficiency, trackability, ride comfort and safe distance is performed. This paper proposes performance measures of vehicle behavior and develops an adaptive cruise control system. In addition, based on the screening of vehicle parameters that significantly influence performances, kriging surrogate models are constructed through a sequential design of experiment, and kriging surrogate model-based design optimization is performed to maximize fuel efficiency and satisfy target performances.

  • In ubiquitous computing environment the biological signal ECG (Electrocardiogram signal) is usually recorded with noise components. Adaptive interference (or noise) canceller do adaptive filtering of the noise reference input to maximally match and subtract out noise or interference from the primary (signal plus noise) input thereby adaptively eliminate unwanted interference from the ECG signal. Measured Stress ECG (or exercise ECG signal) signal have three major noisy component like baseline wander noise, motion artifact noise and EMG (Electro-mayo-cardiogram) noise. These noises are not only distorted signal but also root of incorrect diagnosis while ECG data are analyzed. Motion artifact and EMG noises behave like wide band spectrum signals, and they considerably do overlapping with the ECG spectrum. Here the multidimensional adaptive method used for filtering which is more effective to improve signal to noise ratio.

  • Services for self-designing, or adaptive customization services, have become dominant in virtual marketplaces and are believed to create additional values both for the company as well as for the customer. While most research focused on the value from the services' outputs, this research attempts to address the customer-perceived value deriving from the process of the services, and focuses on the self-fulfillment effect of the involved mental processing. An online survey was administered with 313 U.S. shoppers. In the results, participants using adaptive customization services reported higher self-fulfillment perceptions, than did those not using the services. Furthermore, both the self-fulfillment perceptions (i.e., autonomy and competence) significantly increased perceived design utility. The results suggest that the process of adaptive customization services should be strategically managed to improve the customers' positive mental states that subsequently improve the perceived value of the output designs. Implications and suggestions for future studies are dsicussed.

  • It is well known that one can easily design a high-gain adaptive output feedback control for a class of nonlinear systems which satisfy a certain condition called output feedback exponential passivity (OFEP). The designed high-gain adaptive controller has simple structure and high robustness with regard to bounded disturbances and unknown order of the controlled system. However, from the viewpoint of practical application, it is important to consider a robust control scheme for controlled systems for which some of the assumptions of output feedback stabilization are not valid. In this paper, we design a robust high-gain adaptive output feedback control for the OFEP nonlinear systems with uncertain nonlinearities and/or disturbances. The effectiveness of the proposed method is shown by numerical simulations.

  • This paper surveys some existing direct adaptive feedback control schemes for linear time-invariant systems with actuator failures characterized by the failure pattern that some inputs are stuck at some unknown fixed or varying values at unknown time instants, and applications of those schemes to aircraft flight control system models. Controller structures, plant-model matching conditions, and adaptive laws to update controller parameters are investigated for the following cases for continuous-time systems: state tracking using state feed-back, output tracking using state feedback, and output tracking using output feedback. In addition, a discrete-time output tracking design using output feedback is presented. Robustness of this design with respect to unmodeled dynamics and disturbances is addressed using a modified robust adaptive law.

  • In this paper, We present a new nonlinear adaptive control law using a disturbance accommodating control (DAC) observer for a Japanese automatic landing flight experiment vehicle called ALFLEX. A future spaceplane must have ability to deal with greater fluctuations in the stability and control derivatives of flight dynamics, because its flight region is much wider than that of conventional aircraft. In our previous studies, digital adaptive flight control systems have been developed based on a linear-parameter-varying (LPV) model depending on dynamic pressure, and obtained good simulation results. However, under previous control laws, it is difficult to accommodate uncertainties represented by disturbance and nonlinearity, and to design a stable flight control system. Therefore, in this study, we attempted to design a nonlinear adaptive control law using the DAC Observer and inverse dynamic methods. A good tracking property of the obtained system was confirmed in numerical simulation.

  • Radome aberration error causes degradation of miss distance as well as stability of high maneuver missile system with RF seeker. A study about radome compensation method is important in this kind of missile system design. Several kinds of methods showed good compensation performance in their paper. Proposed adaptive Particle filter estimates line of sight rate excluding the radome induced error. This paper shows effectiveness of adaptive Particle filter as compensation method of radome aberration error. Robust performance of this filter depends on external aiding measurement, target acceleration. Tuning of system error covariance can make this filter unsensitive against the error of target acceleration information. This paper demonstrates practical usage of adaptive Particle filter for reducing miss distance and increasing stability against disturbance of radome aberration error through performance analysis.

  • This paper deals with the design of the adaptive controller using a decentralized control for Large-Scale system formed of an arbitrary interconnection of subsystem with unknown parameters, non linearity and bounded disturbance. In order to reduce the load and frequency deviations, now decentralized adaptive controllers are developed for stabilization and tracking the parameters. In the simulation studies of the decentralized adaptive control of a two-area interconnected power system, the effectiveness of the proposed adaptive is demonstrated.

  • This paper presents a design of fuzzy power system stabilizer (FPSS) using adaptive evolutionary computation (AEC). We have proposed an adaptive evolutionary algorithm which uses a genetic algorithm (GA) and an evolution strategy (ES) in an adaptive manner in order to take merits of two different evolutionary computations. FPSS shows better control performances than conventional power system stabilizer (CPSS) in three-phase fault with heavy load which is used when tuning FPSS. To show the robustness of the proposed FPSS, it is appliedto damp the low frequency oscillations caused by disturbances such as three-phase fault with normal and light load, the angle deviation of generator with normal and light load and the angle deviation of generator with heavy load. Proposed FPSS shows better robustness than CPSS.
