  • This paper presents a semi-blind Minimum Mean Square Error (MMSE) beamforming adaptive algorithm used far OFDM/CDMA combined system. The proposed algorithm exploits the transmitting pilot signal in the initial period of the transmission to update the weight vector. Then it applies the blind adaptive period to update the weight vector, in which the pilot signal is no longer used. The derivation of the algorithm based on the Mean Square Error (MSE) criterion is also presented. Computer simulation is carried out to verify the performance of the proposed approach.

  • In this paper, we estimates the direction of arrival of desired a target using linear array antenna in wireless communication. Direction of arrival estimation is to estimate for desired target position among incident signals on receiver array antennas. This paper improved estimation of direction of arrival for target using optimum weight, high resolution adaptive beamforming algorithm, and sparse matrix for driection of arrival estimation. Through simulation, we showed that we are performance the analysis to compare general algorithm with proposed algorithm. We show that propose algorithm more improve for direction of estimation than general beamforming algorithm.

  • An adaptive beamforming system based on code filtering and differential correlation approaches is proposed. The differential correlation method was originally proposed for time delay estimation of direct sequence code division multiple access (DS-CDMA) systems under near-far ratio conditions and the code filtering correlation algorithm, on the other hand, was proposed for array response estimation in DS-CDMA systems under perfect power control. In this paper, by combining differential correlation concept with the code filtering beamforming technology, an accurate estimate of the beam forming weights and an enhanced performance of DS-CDMA systems under sever near-far ratio conditions is achieved. The system performance in terms of beam pattern and bit-error-rate (HER) shows that the proposed adaptive beamformer outperforms the conventional code filtering correlation technique.

  • In this paper, when using the LMS algorithm for adaptive ultrasonic beamforming system, the effect of initial value setting on the margin of step parameters was studied. To this end, quasi-ideal beams, rotational beams with arbitrarily set beam widths were used as examples. In the numerical simulations, an arbitrary initial value(the number of sound sources fixed to any number) was set in the ultrasonic beamforming system, and the margin of the step parameter and convergence characteristics thereof were compared.

  • In this paper, an adaptive beamforming algorithm, based on the Minimum Mean Squared Error (MMSE) criterion, is devised fer adaptive antenna applied to an MC-CDMA system. A new method for updating the weight vector is derived. Computer simulations show that proposed algorithm is capable of rejecting co-channel interference that affects the MC-CDMA system. Thus, the BER performance of the MC-CDMA system is improved compared with that of the MC-CDMA system without using adaptive antenna and that of the DS-CDMA system with adaptive antenna in multi-path Ricean fading channel.

  • Beamforming is one of the spatial filtering techniques which extract only desired signals from noisy environments using microphone arrays. Fixed beamforming is a simple concept and easy to implement. However, it does not show good performance in real noisy conditions. As an adaptive beamforming, Frost algorithm can be a good candidate. It uses the concept of the linearly constrained minimum variance (LCMV) algorithm. The difference between the Frost and the LCMV algorithm is the error correction scheme which is very effective feature in the aspect of performance. In this paper, as quadrature mirror filtering (QMF)-based filterbank is utilized as the pre-processing of the Frost beamformning, the filter length and the learning rate of each band is optimized to improve the performance. The performance is measured by the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and the Bark's scale spectral distortion (BSD).

  • For the purpose of development of anti-jamming GPS receiver we have developed an anti-jamming algorithm and its Simulink implementation model. The algorithm used here is a form of Space-Time Adaptive Processing (STAP) filter which is well known as an effective way to remove wideband jamming signals. We have chosen Minimum Variance Distortionless Response (MVDR) block-adaptive beamforming algorithm for our development since it can provide relatively fast convergence speed to reach optimal weights, stable and high suppression capability on various types of jamming signals. We will show modeling results for this MVDR type adaptive beamformer and some simulation results. We also show the integrity of the demodulated satellite signals and the accuracy of resulting navigation solutions after anti-jamming operation.

  • In this paper, we propose an adaptive Beamforming Algorithm, called MC-LMS, for adaptive antenna applied to an MC-CDMA system. New method for updating the weight vector based on the MSE criterion is derived. Computer simulations show that MC-LMS algorithm is capable of rejecting co-channel interference that affects the MC-CDMA system. Thus, the BER performance of the MC-CDMA system is much higher than that of the MC-CDMA system without using adaptive antenna and that of the DS-CDMA system with adaptive antenna in multi-path Rayleigh fading channel.

  • The orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) technique is well known to be robust against the frequency-selective fading in wireless channels. It is due to the exploitation of a guard interval that is inserted at beginning of each OFDM symbol. Based on the conventional OFDM and a polyphase filtered orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (PF-OFDM) technique, we developed an adaptive beamforming algorithm for antenna arrays. The proposed algorithm would lead to an efficient use of channel, since it is possible to eliminate a guard interval and also easily suppress interchannel interference at the same time. In this paper, a series of computer simulations have been provided to show the performance of the proposed system.

  • Adaptive beamforming algorithms have been widely used to remove interference and jamming in the phased array radar system. Advances in the field programmable gate array(FPGA) technology now make possible the real time processing of adaptive beamforming (ABF) algorithm. In this paper, the FPGA based real-time implementation method of adaptive beamforming system(beamformer) in the pre-processor module for active electronically scanned array(AESA) radar is proposed. A compact FPGA-based adaptive beamformer is developed using commercial off the shelf(COTS) FPGA board with communication via OpenVPX(Virtual Path Cross-connect) backplane. This beamformer comprises a number of high speed complex processing including QR decomposition & back substitution for matrix inversion and complex vector/matrix calculations. The implemented result shows that the adaptive beamforming patterns through FPGA correspond with results of simulation through Matlab. And also confirms the possibility of application in AESA radar due to the real time processing of ABF algorithm through FPGA.
