Background: This study was conducted to evaluate the clinical effect of acupotomy, a newly upcoming acupuncture treatment method for a dorsal wrist ganglion cyst. Methods: A patient with a dorsal wrist ganglion cyst was treated with acupotomy under ultrasonographic guidance. The symptoms caused by the cyst and size of the cyst under ultrasonographic observation were used to evaluate the effect of the acupotomy treatment. Results: The numeric rating scale score reduced from 7 to 1.4 throughout the treatment period. The size and swelling of the cyst decreased following acupotomy treatment. Conclusion: Acupotomy had a positive clinical effect in the treatment of a dorsal wrist ganglion cyst in this case. Further studies are required for its additional retrospective application.

As mentioned above, I have acquired some valuable results about medical treatment with acupuncture and Moxibustion of "Flank pain" after studying oriental medical books. The results were like below : 1. Medical treatment with acupunctures of Flank pain belonged to the Urinary Bladder Meridian of Foot Taiyang, the Liver Meridian of Foot Jueyin, the Gall Bladder Meridian of Foot Shaoyang. 2. Medical treatment with acupunctures of Flank pain used to Yang-laung-chan(陽陵泉), Gi-gu(地溝), Gi-mun(期門), Kan-su(肝兪) in turn. 3. Medical treatment with Ear acupunctures of Flank pain used to Dam(膽), Sin-mun(神門), Gan(肝)in turn. 4. Acupuncture point of Flank pain were lower limb part, chest and abdominal part. back part in turn. 5. Medical treatment with Moxibustion of Flank pain was the most Jang-mun(章門)

The Literatural Study on the classification of cause and the effect of Acupuncture and Moxibustion treatment for Tinnitus was studied from the viewpoint of therapeutic acupuncture and moxibustion effect. And the results were as follows: 1. The cause of Tinnitus is divided three parts, The Internal Organs factors, Internal damages, and Exogenous pathogenic factors, in The Nei Jing. 2. The basal meridian of acupuncture and moxibustion treatment were the channels of Shaoyang. 3. The treatment of acupuncture had a rule of Ju Ci.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to report the effect of Korean medical treatment on a patient with relapsing transverse myelitis. Methods : The patient was treated using acupuncture, pharmacopuncture, herbal medicine and other treatments including moxibustion and therapeutic exercise for 8 weeks. We evaluated the patient's motor grade with medical research council(MRC) scale and evaluated active range of motion in the hip, knee, and anke joint. Results : Through treatment the patient's motor grade and active range of motion all improved. Other symptoms such as lower limb hypoesthesia and residual urine sensation also showed improvement. Conclusions : We concluded that Korean medicine treatment had respectable effect in improving symptoms on the patient with relapsing transverse myelitis.

Purpose : In order to estimate clinical effects of Oriental Medicine Treatment with acupotomy therapy of Carpal tunnel Syndrome. Methods : From 7th May, 2008 to 10th May, 2008, 1 female patient diagnosed as carpal tunnel syndrome(clinical diagnosed) was treated with general oriental medicine therapy(acupuncture, moxibustion, cupping, physical therapy, herbal medication) and acupotomy. Results : The patient's both hand numbness, both wrist pain & puffiness were remarkably improved. Conclusions : This study demonstrates that oriental medical treatment with acuputomy therapy has notable effect in improving symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome. as though we had not wide experience in this treatment, more research is needed.

Purpose : In order to estimate clinical effects of Oriental Medicine Treatment with acupotomy therapy of herniated lumbar intervertebral Disc patient needed operation. Methods : From 17th April, 2008 to 17th April, 2008, 1 female patient diagnosed as herniated lumbar intervertebral Disc at L4/5(right postero-lateral extrusion type)was treated with general oriental medicine therapy(acupuncture, moxibustion, cupping, physical therapy, herbal medication) and acupotomy. Results : The patient's chief complaints - Low back pain, both buttock pain, Right. leg paresthesia were remarkably improved. Conclusions : This study demonstrates that oriental medical treatment with acuputomy therapy has notable effect in improving functional disability and symptoms of lumbar radiculopathy. as though we had not wide experience in this treatment, more research is needed.

Thirty cases were observed among the peripheral facial paralysis patients who admitted. the Department of Acupuncture and Moxibustion of Seoul Oriental Hospital between Feb. 2nd, 1995 and Aug. 14th, 2000. These patients were divided into two groups; the first group was treated with indirect facial moxibustion., while the second with basic oriental-westem medicine treatment. Object : To improve the therapeutic rate of peripheral facial paralysis by applying basic oriental-western medicine treatment and indirect facial moxibustion. Method : Inpatients suffering from peripheral paralysis of facial nerve were divided into two groups; both groups recieved basic oriental-western medicine treatment; the experimental group additionally received indirect facial moxibustion onto Tuyu(頭維) and Chich'ang(地倉) once or twice daily. Result : In the therapeutic result from moxibustion treatment group, 3 excellent, 7 good, 3 fair, and 1 poor case were observed. From compound treatment group, 2 excellent, 5 good, 5 fair and 4 poor cases were observed. Among the excellent and good patients of both groups, therapeutic rate of moxibustion treatment group (71.4%) was higher than that of compound treatment group(43.8%). Conclusion : The overall therapeuric rate of the moxibustion treatment group was 92.8%, which was higher than that of the compound treatment group(75.1%).

Objectives : The aim of this study was to observe the effect of Pyung-Hyung acupuncture on peripheral facial palsy. Methods : We investigated 44 cases of patients with peripheral facial paralysis, and divided patients into two groups. We treated one group by complex oriental medical treatment with Pyung-Hyung acupuncture, and the other group by complex oriental medical treatment without Pyung-Hyung acupuncture. To evaluate the effectiveness of treatment applied for two groups, we used Yanagihara's unweighed grading system(Y system) and gross grading system of House-Brackmann(HB score) at baseline and final. Results : 1. The final Y-system in both the Pyung-Hyung acupuncture group and the control group significantly increased compared to the value at baseline. 2. At final, Pyung-Hyung acupuncture group showed significantly increase on Y-system compared with control group. Conclusions : Pyung-Hyung acupuncture can be used for relieving symptoms related with peripheral facial paralysis.

Objectives : This study was to evaluate the effectiveness of Bee Venom acupuncture therapy on chronic arthritis of ankle, Methods : We divided chronic arthritis of ankle patient into 2 group; one group combined bee venom acupuncture therapy and acupuncture therapy, another group was only acupuncture therapy. To estimate the efficacy of treatment that applied for two groups, we used visual analog scale(VAS). We compared the VAS score of two groups statistically. Results : 1. As a result of evaluation by using visual analog scale(VAS), treatment score at final was marked more higher than score before treatment on each groups. 2. treatment at final, acupuncture and bee venom acupuncture therapy group had significant result on visual analog scale(VAS) compared with acupuncture therapy group. Conclusion : Bee Venom acupuncture therapy can be used with acupuncture therapy for highly effective treatment for chronic arthritis of ankle.

Objectives : The purpose on this study is to report clinical effects of oriental medicine for gait disturbance after traffic accident. Methods : The patient was treated using electro-acupuncture, 8 constitution acupuncture, herbal medicine, moxibustion and physical treatment. The effects for gait disturbance have measured with modified barthel index(MBI) and that for lower back pain have measured with visual analog scale(VAS). Results : 1. The Modified barthel index gradually increased according to treatment time. 2. The VAS of low back pain decreased to less than half. Conclusion : Oriental medical treatment showed positive effect on gait disturbance after traffic accident.
