플라즈마 디스플레이 패널에서 공통전극에서의 벽전하를 이용한 기입방전특성의 향상 (Improvement of Address Discharge Characteristics Using Wall Charge on Common Electrodes in AC PDP)

  • 플라즈마 디스플레이 패널에서 기입기간 동안 공통전극에서의 벽전하를 이용하여 기입방전특성을 향상시키기 위하여 수정된 구동 파형을 제시한다. 플라즈마 디스플레이의 구동방식에 있어서 초기화 기간 후에 상판의 두 전극에는 음전하가 쌓이게 되고 하판의 기입전극에는 양전하가 쌓이게 된다. 기입기간 중의 기입방전은 주사펄스와 기입펄스가 동시에 인가될 때 발생되는데 주사전극의 음전하와 기입전극의 양전하가 주로 이용된다. 반면에 공통 전극에서는 기입기간 동안 파형인가 없이 전압만 유지하기 때문에 공통전극의 벽전하는 크게 기여하지 않는다. 본 연구에서는 기입기간 중 주사 및 기입 펄스의 인가시각에 맞춰 공통 전극에서도 펄스를 인가하여 기입방전 특성을 조사하였다. 공통 전극에서의 인가전압의 높이와 펄스의 인가시각에 따른 기입 방전특성을 조사하는 실험을 각각 진행하였으며 그 결과 최적의 전압높이와 인가시각 조건하에서 기입방전의 발생시간을 종래보다 약 200 ns 정도 단축시켰다.

  • This paper introduces the mechanism of the ESD (Electrostatic discharge) in the HDD spindle system using FDBs (Fluid Dynamic Bearings). When a HDD (Hard Disk Drive) spindle system is rotating, triboelectric charging occurs in the FDBs through the friction of the lubricant between the rotating shaft and stationary sleeve. And this electrostatic charge is accumulated in the rotating part of the HDD spindle system because it is insulated from the ground by the lubricant. This research shows experimentally that the behavior of electric charge and discharge in the FDB spindle system is the same as that of a capacitor. It also measures the electrostatic charge and discharge of the FDB spindle system due to the chanse of humidity, supporting load and motor speed. This research shows that the control of ESD is required in the HDD spindle system using FDBs, because the electrostatic charge accumulated in the FDB spindle system may cause the breakdown damage of the GMR head and data loss consequently.

표면전축적층을 이용한 HLE 채양전지의 효율개선에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Efficiency Improvement of HLE Solar Cell Using Surface Charge Accumulated Layer)

  • P형 Si기판에 N에피층을 성장시키고 Si-AR막 계면에서 고정양전하밀도(Qss)를 높임으로써 전지의 에미터 표면영역을 N'전하축적층으로 나타낸 새로운 형태의 N'N/P HLE 태':1전지 를 제 작하였다. 제작된 전지의 종류로는 AR막으로 SiOr층을 이용한 OCI전지와 Si,N,/sioxynitride층을 이응한 NCI전지로 구분하였다. 전지의 AR막내 Qss분포는 커패시턴스-전압 측정을 통해 조사하였으며 이로부터 NCI전 al (Qss=1.79~ 1.84$\times$1011cm-2) 가 OCI전 지 (Qss=3.03~ 4.40$\times$1011cm-1) 에 비 해 로면 전 하축 적 층 이 효과적 으로 나타남을 알 수 있었다. JCR할로겐 램프로 100mW/cm2의 인공조명을 만들어 효율특성을 분석한 결과 유효수광면적에 대한 평균(최대)변환효율이 OCI전지에서 15.18(15.46)%, NCI전지에서 16.31(17.07%)로 나타났다.

Removal of Static Electricity on Polyimide Film Surface by $O_2$ or Ar Cold Plasma Etching

  • Cold plasma of $O_2$ or Ar was irradiated on hydrophobic Kapton surface to attenuate or remove the electrostatic potential. A measurement on charge dissipation speed clarifies the obscure effect of plasma. These consequences reveal that $O_2$ plasma etching is more effective than Ar plasma. After 30 days, the dissipation speed of accumulated charge on initially etched sample has not changed under summer season.

  • This study was attempted to propose a method evaluating fixation of active ingredients in Copper-Chromium-Arsenic preservatives treatment. Fixated amount of active ingredients on wood was obtained by measuring the density of surface electric charge based on $\varsigma$ potential. Data accumulated from density of surface electric charge showed that the fixated amount of preservatives on wood increased linearly as concentration of treating solution increaced, which indicatied quantitative reactions in fixation of preservatives.

  • Charging of spacecraft occurs in plasma and radiation environment. Especially, we focused on an accident caused by internal charging in a glass material that was used as the cover plate of solar panel array, and tried to measure the charge distribution in glass materials under electron beam irradiation by using a PEA (Pulsed Electro-Acoustic method) system. In the case of a quartz glass (pure $SiO_2$), no charge accumulation was observed either during or after the electron beam irradiation. On the contrary, positive charge accumulation was observed in glass samples containing metal-oxide components. It is found that the polarity of the observed charges depends on the contents of the impurities. To identify which impurity dominates the polarity of the accumulated charge, we measured charge distributions in several glass materials containing various metal-oxide components and calculated the trap energy depths from the charge decay characteristics of all glass samples.

  • The interfacial charge distribution was investigated using PE laminate system. It was found that a proper treatment of the interlace could decrease the amount of charge accumulated at the interfaces. High lamination temperature and long lamination time brought about little interfacial charge. It was also observed that the interfacial charge could be decreased by the addition of chemicals which had charge trap or hopping site.

  • The electrification phenomena of polymerized materials is governed by the competitive processes of the charge generation and the charge dissipation. In this paper, The charged particles were supplied on the naked upper surface of the polyethylene film from a point corona discharge with a screen electrode which controls the potential difference across the film. The charging current with the corona charging was found to be larger than that obtained with the electric charging on the MIM structure and the discharge current was found to flow in the same direction as that of the charging current. these results can suggest that the charge injection occurs from the interface between the polethylene surface and the accumulated charge layer, the injected charge are trapped and the space charge is established.

SXLPE/XLPE laminate의 계면전하 거동 (Interfacial Charge Behaviors in SXLPE/XLPE Laminates)

  • Space charge distributions and behaviors in silane crosslinked polyethylene(SXLPE)/ crosslinked polyethylene(XLPE) laminates were investigated using a pulsed electroacoustic (PEA) method. In case of monolayer, XLPE shows heterocharge while SXLPE shows homocharge. It was observed that charges were accumulated at the interface of SXLPE/XLPE laminate when applied electric field was more than 20kV/mm. The charge profile at various temperatures was also acquired using temperature-controllable PEA system. Although applied electric field is only 8.6 kV.mm, positive interfacial charge starts to appear near 50$^{\circ}C$. It was found that the interfacial charge behavior of SXLPE/XLPE laminate under low voltage at high temperature is corresponding to that under high voltage at room temperature.
