For monitoring the status of industrial accidents, many statistical indexes have been developed and applied such as fatal rate, frequency rate, and severity rate. These accident indexes are measured by frequency and loss time according to the accidents in the individual industry level. However, it is less considered to use the index of identifying the industrial concentration of accidents in the holistic view. Thus, this study aims to suggest the accident concentration level among domestic industries through index analysis. The concentration level of industrial accidents is calculated by the accident composition of sub-industries. This concentration level shows whether an industry is comprised of a few sub-industries generating more accidents or an industry consists of sub-industries having the similar number of accidents. To this end, the concentration rate (CR) and concentration index (CI) are proposed to take a look at the industry composition of accidents by embracing the concept of market concentration indexes such as Hirschman-Herfindahl Index. As for the case study, four industries of mining, manufacturing, transportation, and other business (usually service) are analyzed in terms of indexes of accident rate, death(fatality) rate, and CR and CI of accident and death. Finally, we illustrate the positioning map that the accident concentration level is compared with the traditional accident frequency level among industries.
PURPOSES : This study aimed to analyze traffic accidents at circular intersections, and discuss accident reduction strategies based on land use and vehicle type. METHODS : Traffic accident data from 2010 to 2014 were collected from the "traffic accident analysis system" (TAAS) data set of the Road Traffic Authority. To develop the accident rate model, a multiple linear regression model was used. Explanatory variables such as geometry and traffic volume were used to develop the models. RESULTS : The main results of the study are as follows. First, it was found that the null hypotheses that land use and vehicle type do not affect the accident rate should be rejected. Second, 16 accident rate models, which are statistically significant (with high $R^2$ values), were developed. Finally, the area of the central island, number of speed humps, entry lane width, circulatory roadway width, bus stops, and pedestrian crossings were analyzed to determine their effect on accidents according to the type of land use and vehicle. CONCLUSIONS : Through the developed accident rate models, it was revealed that the accident factors at circular intersections changed depending on land use and vehicle type. Thus, selecting the appropriate location of bus stops for trucks, widening entry lanes for cars, and installing splitter islands and optimal lighting for motorcycles were determined to be important for reducing the accident rate. Additionally, the evaluation showed that commercial and mixed land use had a weaker effect on accidents than residential land use.

Purpose: In this study, we attempted to analyze the occupational accident experience rate by working life cycle of Korean workers considering entrance and turnover in their jobs. The specific goal of this study was to calculate the accident experience rate according to workers' turnover history and previous accident experience. Methods: We constructed a cumulative data set of 90,338 cases of workers' accident experiences in their jobs from the Fourth Korean Working Conditions Survey. The accident experience rates according to workers' turnover and previous accident experiences were analyzed using descriptive statistics and analysis of variance. Results: In this study, the cumulative accident experience rate of Korean workers was found to be 5.2%. It was confirmed that the accident experience rate of workers increased as the turnover frequencies increased. In addition, we analyzed only the data of the workers who had experienced turnover and found that the accident experience rate after turnover increased about 7.5 times when workers had experienced accidents in the past. Conclusion: To prevent occupational accidents in workers, safety strategies should consider a worker's previous job history and injury experiences. It will also be necessary to focus preventive efforts on new and young workers through ongoing monitoring and on-the-job training.

In construction work, it can be difficult to know the exact number of full-time workers, so the accident rate is calculated using the approximate number of full-time workers. In addition, as the accident rate calculation is performed based on the assumption that the number of accidents is proportional to the approximate number of workers, the reliability of the calculation result may be questionable. This study proposed a new indicator for accident level based on the progress payment and the number of injuries. The accident-progress ratio, which can be calculated by simply dividing the number of injuries by progress payment, can replace the existing accident rate index or be used as an auxiliary indicator of the accident level. The correlation coefficient between the number of injuries and the progress payment was higher than that between the number of injuries and the number of construction workers. In addition, over the past 10 years, the accident rate has been increasing, whereas the accident-progress ratio has showed a decreasing tendency. This might leave room for different interpretations of the annual variation in the accident level in the construction industry.
Safety has once again emerged as a social issue due to the enforcement of the Serious Disasters Punishment Act and the occurrence of major disasters recently. As such, the safety culture related to unsafe human behavior is drawing attention as various discussions about the importance of safety and accident prevention are currently being undertaken. This study aims to determine whether changes in the level of safety culture in companies affect the accident rate. To this end, we targeted three workplaces in the same company in the domestic manufacturing industry, and 2,790 people were surveyed using DNV's Safety Will(ISRS-C version 4.0) for safety culture level diagnosis. The change in safety culture level and accident rate were compared and analyzed after carrying out safety culture level improvement activities for 5 years. As a result, the level of safety culture increased by 5.8 points, an overall improvement of 9.5%, while the total number of accidents decreased by 20%, from 5 to 4, indicating a general decreasing trend in accident occurrence. Results confirmed that the change in the level of safety culture affects the accident rate, and the improvement in the level of safety culture affects a reduction in accidents. Therefore, this study suggests that efforts to improve the level of safety culture within a company can be associated with accident reduction and accident prevention outcomes.

There were a total of 65 accidents of helicopers between 1990 and 2013. The overall accidents rate has remained around 8 accidents per 100,000 flight hours, and the fatal rate has stayed at about 8 accidents per 100,000 flight hours. In this study, we conduct a series of statistical analyses to investigate the significance of latent failure of groups that operate the helicopter. Analysis of variance demonstrated significant differences in the latent condition score for the 3 groups, with the lower accidents rate groups reporting better scores of latent condition. Results indicated that there are the significant differences of latent condition in accidents between groups of high accidents rate and groups of low accidents rate.
Trucks take up more portions than cars on highways. Due to this, road use relatively diminish and it serves locally as a threatening factor to nearby drivers. Baggage car accident has distinct characteristics so that it needs the application of different analysis opposed to ordinary accidents. Accident prediction model, one of accident analyses, is used to predict the numbers of accident in certain parts, establish traffic plans as well as accident prevention methods, and diagnose the danger of roads. Thus, this study aims to apply the accident rate of baggage car on highways and calculate the correction factor to be put in the accident prediction models. Accident data based on highway was collected and traffic amounts and accident documents between 2014 and 2016 were utilized. The author developed an accident prediction model based on numbers of annual accidents and set mean annual and daily traffic amounts. This study intends to identify the practical accident prediction model on highway and present an appropriate solution by comparing the prediction model in accords with the accident rate between baggage cars.

A traffic accident is occurred by unbalance of reciprocal action of driver, vehicle and road conditions. To prevent the traffic accident, rapid and perfect road improvement is needed. But most of road improvement plans have insufficient budget. So decision maker has to determine the priority to invest. A model in this study, analyzing the effect of road conditions to the traffic accident, helps to decide the priority in road improvement. This study considered five danger indices ; 1) traffic volume, 2) speed variance, 3) vehicle mixing rate, 4) curved line radius, and 5) difference between design speed and running speed. Danger rate composed by five indices can be a scale of priority of improvement. The model in this study didn't consider all of factors about traffic accident. But this study can propose the methodology for traffic safety policy. For deriving the model, this study used data from highways in Korea and United States. Therefore the model has to apply the highways only.
An agriculture which is one of the national security industry, has recognized the importance. International country have attention to the automatization of machine for the improvement of agriculture. However, because of modernization of agriculture, the rate of accurrence about agriculture accident has increased dramatically. Especially the rate of accurence of agricultural accident is higher than the other industrial accident in the developed country. Because of these reasons, developed country has efforted to the agriculture system about safety. Australia law for the safety system of agriculture is very well and the rate of accident in the self-management agriculture is included in the statistics of industrial But The rate of accident in self-management agriculture is very higher In future we have to try new method about Agricuture Safety of Korea.
