Impingement wastage experiment with SUS 316 in a printed circuit steam generator

  • The sodium cooled fast reactor (SFR) is one of the Gen-IV reactors with the most operating experience accumulated. Although the technology level is the most mature among the Gen-IV reactors, there is still a safety problem that has not been solved, which is the sodium-water reaction. Since sodium and water are separated only by a heat transfer tube with a thickness of only a few mm, there is inherently a risk of a sodium-water reaction (SWR) accident in the SFR. In this study, it is attempted to quantitatively evaluate the resistance of SWR accidents by replacing the shell and tube steam generator with printed circuit steam generator (PCSG) as a method to mitigate the SWR accident. To do this, a CATS-S (Compact Accident Tolerance Steam Generator-SWR) facility was designed and built. And for the quantitative evaluation of accident resistance, a methodology for measuring the impingement wastage rate was established. As a result of this research, the impingement wastage rate caused by SWR generated in a PCSG was measured first time. It was confirmed that the impingement wastage phenomenon was suppressed in the PCSG, and the accident resistance was higher than that of the SWR through comparison with the experimental results performed in the existing shell and tube steam generator. In conclusion, a PCSG is more resistant to impingement wastage as a result of the SWR accident than existing shell and tube steam generators, and it is estimated that a PCSG can mitigate SWR accidents, an inherent problem of SFR.

국내 항공사고조사를 위한 항공사고 통합 데이터 관리시스템의 프로토 타입 개발 (Development of Integrated Data Management Prototype System for Aviation Accident and Incident Investigation)

  • 본 논문에서 국내 항공사고조사를 위한 통합 데이터 관리 시스템 프로토타입 개발을 제안한다. 최근 항공사고 조사 장비의 발전에 따라 사고조사 시스템은 다양한 형태의 jpg, avi, 및 wav 파일 자료들을 수집 및 관리해야한다. 하지만 ECCAIRS 시스템의 경우 항공사고 조사 시 발생하는 다양한 자료를 관리하기 위한 별도의 데이터베이스를 구축하고 있지 못한 상황이며, 국내 항공사고 관리시스템 역시 동일한 문제점을 가지고 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 해외 주요 국가의 항공사고보고서 시스템을 분석하고 국내 환경에 적용할 수 있는 방안을 마련한다. 통합 데이터 관리시스템 프로토타입을 통하여 기존 자료와 최근 조사한 자료를 입력을 통하여 성능을 확인하였다. 이 결과를 이용하여 최종 통합 데이터 관리시스템의 완성을 위한 기초 자료로 활용할 예정이다.

체육교사의 가치정향에 따른 안전사고 예방활동 및 실태 (Safety Accident Prevention Activities & Actual Conditions According to Physical Education Teacher's Value Orientation)

  • This dissertation aims to analyze various safety accidents taking place during physical education class according to physical education teacher's value orientation, to identify teacher's value orientation that can minimize safety accidents, and to provide basic materials for safe and smooth class management. For this purpose, data have been collected from 261 physical education teachers at some middle and high schools in G City in Kyung-Ki Province and Busan Metropolitan City. The materials were treated as follows: The variables on demographic characteristics of physical education teachers are determined by t-test ; The analysis of one-way ANOVA and relationship between value orientation and safety accident prevention activities was conducted through Pearson's linear correlation analysis and multiple regression; The analysis of the relationship between value orientation and actual conditions of safety accidents was conducted through logistic regression. First, there is almost no awareness difference of physical education teachers' value orientation according to demographical variables. The value orientation physical education teachers consider to be the most important is, however, mainly 'mastery of disciplinary lesson.' There is a statistically significant difference in safety accident prevention activities according to demographical variables. Teachers' focuses in class contents showed a significant difference according to teaching experience and working area, while the dependency on facility has a significant difference according to teaching experience and school type. Second, there is no correlation between physical education teacher's value orientation and safety accident prevention activities because there is virtually no statistically significant difference between them. It means that safety accident prevention activities are not related with on which teachers place emphasis among mastery of disciplinary lesson, social reconstruction, self-realization, ecological integration and value orientation on learning process. Third, the analysis of safety accident prevention activities according to physical education teachers' value orientation revealed that the lower value orientation in social reconstruction is, the more safety accidents teachers experience. It is also found that crashes among students, ball games and leg injuries are inter-related with social reconstruction in value orientation, over-motivation and unskilled motor function ; athletic sports with value orientation on learning process and safety prevention training ; unskilled motor functions with value orientation in ecological integration and disobedience to teacher's directions ; winter accidents with mastery of disciplinary lesson in value orientation. In conclusion, the research indicates that physical education teacher's value orientation according to demographical variables didn't show any significant difference, while one according to safety accident prevention activities showed significant difference. Besides, physical education teachers' value orientation is not related to safety accident prevention activities, but the relationship between value orientation and actual conditions of safety accidents showed correlations according to each variable. Especially, teachers with lower value orientation in social reconstruction experienced more safety accidents. Therefore, physical education teachers can manage physical education class more safely with more emphasis on value orientation in social reconstruction.

Development of a 3D thermohydraulic-neutronic coupling model for accident analysis in research miniature neutron source reactor (MNSR)

  • To accurately analyze the accidents in nuclear reactors, a thermohydraulic-neutronic coupling calculation is required to solve fluid dynamics and nuclear reactor kinetics equations in fine cells simultaneously and evaluate the local effects of neutronic and thermohydraulic parameters on each other. In the present study, a 3D thermohydraulic-neutronic coupling model is developed, validated and then applied for Isfahan MNSR (Miniature Neutron Source reactor) safety analysis. The proposed model is developed using FLUENT software and user defined functions (UDF) are applied to simulate the neutronic behavior of MNSR. The validation of the proposed model is first evaluated using 1mk reactivity insertion experiment into Isfahan MNSR core. Then, the developed coupling code is applied for a design basis accident (DBA) scenario analysis with the insertion of maximum allowed cold core reactivity of 4 mk. The results show that the proposed model is able to predict the behavior of the reactor core under normal and accident conditions with a good accuracy.

학교 안전사고가 교사의 교육활동에 미치는 영향 (The Impact of Safety Accident on Teacher's Educational Activities in School)

  • 학교 안전사고가 학교 교사들의 정상적인 교육활동에 얼마나 큰 영향을 미치는지 알아보고, 안전사고가 학교 교사들에게 주는 피해를 알아보고자 실시하였다. 연구목적을 달성하기 위해서 2006년 인천지역 학교의 학급 담임 110명을 대상으로 임의표집하였고 안전사고의 실태, 학교 안전사고가 학교 교사들의 교육활동에 미치는 영향, 학교 안전사고로부터 교사들의 피해를 최소화하기 위한 방안으로 구성된 설문을 조사하고, 통계처리를 위해 문항별 백분율(%)을 산출하고 남녀별, 경력별, 직급별 변인간 차이를 알기 위해서 $X^2$검정으로 분석한 결과 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 1. 학교 안전사고 실태 1) 안전사고 발생 시간은 쉬는시간과 교과시간에 가장 많이 발생하는 것으로 나타났고, 교사들의 성별에 따라 안전사고 시간에는 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 있다. 안전사고 발생 장소는 교실과 운동장에서 가장 많이 발생한다. 2) 사고원인은 학생의 부주의와 학생간의 다툼이 가장 큰 원인이며 사고원인에서는 경력간에 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 있다. 2. 안전사고가 교사들의 교육활동에 미치는 영향 1) 안전사고 발생 위험이 있을 때는 정상적인 교육활동을 바꾸거나 포기하겠다는 의견이 가장 높았으며 성별, 경력, 직급간에 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 없다. 2) 교사들의 안전사고 개선방향으로는 면책특권 민사적 책임순으로 나타났다.

국내 교통사고 밀도 모형 개발 (Development of Accident Density Model in Korea)

  • This study deal with the traffic accident. The purpose of this study is to develop the accident density models reflecting the transportation and socioeconomic characteristics based on 230 zones of Korea. In this study, The models which are tested to be statistically significant are developed through multiple linear regression analysis. The main research results are as follows. First, in the transportation-based model, road length, avenue ratio, number of intersections and tunnels are analyzed to be positive to the model, however, school zone is analyzed to be negative to the model. Second, in the socioeconomic-based model, population density, transportation vulnerable ratio, children and truck ratio are analyzed to be positive to the model. Finally, in the integrated models, road ratio, population density, transportation vulnerable ratio, children ratio, truck ratio and number of companies are analyzed to be positive, however, school zone is analyzed to be negative to the model. This results could be expected to give good implications to accident-reduction policy-making.

Prevention through Design (PtD) of integrating accident precursors in BIM

  • Construction workers are engaged in many activities that may expose them to serious hazards, such as falling, unguarded machinery, or being struck by heavy construction equipment. Despite extensive research in building information modeling (BIM) for safety management, current approaches, detecting safety issues after design completion, may limit the opportunities to prevent predictable and potential accidents when decisions of building materials and systems are made. In this respect, this research proposes a proactive approach to detecting safety issues from the early design phase. This research aims to explore accident precursors and integrate them into BIM for tracking safety hazards during the design development process. Accident precursors can be identified from construction incident reports published by OSHA using a text mining technique. Through BIM-integrated accident precursors, construction safety hazards can be identified during the design phase. The results will contribute to supporting a successful transition from the design stage to the construction stage that considers a safe construction workplace. This will advance the body of knowledge about construction safety management by elucidating a hypothesis that safety hazards can be detected during the design phase involving decisions about materials, building elements, and equipment. In addition, the proactive approach will help the Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) industry eliminate occupational safety hazards before near-miss situations appear on construction sites.

ECCAIRS Data에 의한 한국의 항공사고·준사고에 대한 경향 분석 (The Trend Analysis about Aviation Accident and Incident in Korea Using the ECCAIRS Data)

  • 최근 항공 안전의 발전에도 불구하고, 항공기 사고의 뚜렷한 감소 추세 없이 유지되고 있다. 따라서 국제적인 항공안전관리의 방향은 기존의 항공안전 방식을 탈피하여 자료에 근거하여 분석된 요소들을 통하여 사고예방을 위한 위험요소를 제거하는 것에 관심을 가지고 있다. 본 연구는 이러한 위험요소를 발굴하고 분석하기 위하여 EU에서 개발하고 2010년부터 한국에서 도입하기 시작한 ECCAIRS에 대한 개관을 소개하였다. 아울러 ECCAIRS에 입력된 국내 항공사고 Data를 활용하여 항공기 사고와 준사고의 분포, 연도별 및 월별 사고 분포, 비행 단계 분포, 그리고 분류체계 분포 등에 대한 경향을 분석하였다. 본 연구의 항공기 사고와 준사고의 추세 분석은 향후 추구해야 할 정량적인 안전관리의 유용한 방향이 될 것이다.

어린이 안전사고 예방교육 프로그램 개발 (Development of the Safety Education Program for Children)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to develop safety education program to prevent child accident and to improve the health of children by providing a safe environment. This program provide parents and children with information on how to prevent children from accident. Children especially can learn specific methods to avoid accident both at home, school and outside the home through safety education, which is based on problem solving. Method: This program was developed based on literature reviews, surveys and negotiation process. School aged children, parents, and teachers were interviewed to identify their educational needs based on their experiences related to child accident. During the 7th Annual Conference of Educational Courses in 1999, the Korean Educational Ministry examined the feasibility and compatibility of integrating the program into the current educational curriculum. Result: This program includes useful subjects such as safety education, preventive strategies, crisis management, guide for parent and teacher, resource persons, internet site and phone numbers of available hospital. Counseling is provided by researcher if needed. Conclusion: This program could be adequately utilized for prevention of child accident and creation of preventive strategies. It will also suggest an intervention strategy for injured children.

학교와 인접한 회전교차로 보행자 사고심각도 영향요인 분석 (Analysis on the Accident Factors of Pedestrian Accident Severity in Roundabout Near School)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the factors affecting the roundabout accidents near schools. This study gives particular attentions discussing characteristics by pedestrian accident severity using the ordered logit models. In pursuing the above, 63 roundabouts installed before 2014 are surveyed for modeling. the traffic accident data from 2014 to 2016 are collected from TAAS data set of Road Traffic Authority. Such 35variables explaining the accidents as environment, human, geometries, school and roundabout factor are selected from literature reviews. The main results are as follows. First, the ordered logit models (${\rho}^2$ of 0.272, $x^2$ of 24.723) which is statistically significant have been developed. Second, environment factor variable is analyzed to be day or night ($X_1$ ), human factor variables are evaluated to be driver gender($X_4$), older driver($X_5$), pedestrian gender($X_7$) and children pedestrian($X_8$ ). Third, geometries factor variable are analyzed to be speed limit sign($X_{16}$) and median barrier($X_{21}$), school factor variables are evaluated to be hump-type crosswalk($X_{25}$), CCTV($X_{26}$) and school zone sign($X_{27}$), roundabout factor are analyzed to be roundabout sign($X_{30}$) and number of circulatory roadway lane($X_{32}$). Finally, this study could give some implications to decreasing the accidents severity at roundabout near schools.
