The effect of hot water and methanol extracts of 9 species from Korean mushrooms (Fomitopsis pinicola, Fomitella traxinea, Codyceps militaris, Phellinus linteus, Coriolus versicolor, Sparassis crispa, Ganoderma lucidum, Fomes fomentarius, Agaricus blazei) on the growth of Helicobacter pylori were examined using a Mueller-Hinton agar diffusion method. Hot water ($121^{\circ}C$) extracts from fruit bodies of F. traxinea, C. militaris, P. linteus, C. versicolor and F. pinicola showed $10{\sim}15\;mm$ inhibition zone against H. pylori. Methanol extracts of F. pinicola showed 44 mm inhibition zone, but another extracts showed no inhibition. Early fractions of DEAE-Sephadex A-25 column chromatography of methanol extracts from F. pinicola showed high inhibition activity against H. pylori.

Physicochemical characteristics of chlorosomes isolated from Chlorobium lirnicoh f.thiosulfirtc~pl~ilut~i NClB 8327 were analyzed by means of UV-Visible spectrophotometer and CD-spectrophotometer. The density of the isolated chlorosomes were estimated to be 1.05 (g/$cm^{3}$) by Percoll self gradient ultracentrifugation. Chlorosome consist of bacteriochlorophyll d and some chlorobactene, and little amounl of bacteriochlorophyll a. Chlorosome is stable from 0 to $80^{\circ}C$and alkaline solution (above pH 7.0). but unstable in illuminated condition. From these results. it is suggested that some proteins or lipids may be essential for the stabilization of chlorosomes in vivo.

We examined acidity state of inorganic aerosol and oxidation state of organic aerosol by High Resolution Time of Flight Aerosol Mass Spectrometer (HR-ToF-AMS) at Baengnyeong Super site from Jan 2012 to Dec 2013. Additionally, we carried out the analysis for the aerosol component group of organic matter ($C_xH_y$, $C_xH_yO_1$, $C_xH_yO_z$, $C_xH_yO_zN_p$) and elemental composition to calculate H/C, O/C, N/C, OM/OC and identify the oxidation state. The aerosol chemical composition in this study is dominated by sulfate ($SO_4{^{2-}}$), nitrate ($NO_3{^-}$) plays a smaller role in aerosol acidity. Ammonium ($NH_4{^+}$) was found in a formation of $(NH_4)_3H(SO_4)_2$. However, the binding formations of $NH_4NO_3$ and $NH_4Cl$ increase in the winter. $C_xH_yO_1$ indicating the oxidized state of $PM_{1.0}$ has the highest ratio of 41% while $C_xH_y$ indicating the non-oxidized state has a lower ratio of 36%, meaning that the oxidation level of $PM_{1.0}$ in Baengnyeong Island is high. The ratio between H/C and O/C was 1.33 and 0.78 respectively, showing the characteristic of LV-OOA (Low volatility-Oxygenated Organic Aerosol). Acidic and oxidized aerosols sampled during this field study were largely anthropogenic in origin from Chinese continent and photochemically aged.

The catalytic oxidations of several cycloolefins in $CH_2Cl_2$ were been investigated using Mn(III)-, Fe(III)-porphyrin complexes as a catalyst and sodium hypochlorite as a terminal oxidant. Porphyrins were $(p-CH_3O)TTP,\;(p-CH_3)TTP,$ TPP, (p-F)TPP, (p-Cl)TPP and $(F_{20})TPP$ (TPP = tetraphenylporphyrin), and olefins were cyclopentene, cyclohexene and cycloheptene. The substrate conversion yield was discussed according to the substituent effects of metalloporphyrin. The conversion yield of substrate by changing the substituent of TPP increased in the order of $p-CH_3O$ < $p-CH_3$ < H < p-F < p-Cl, which was consistent with the sequence of $4{\sigma}$ values of TPP. The conversion of cycloalkene followed the order of $C_5\;<\;C_6\;<\;C_7$.

POU1F1 is a positive regulator for GH, PRL and TSH${\beta}$ and its mutations associate with production traits in ruminant animals. We described a DdeI PCR-RFLP method for detecting a silent allele in the goat POU1F1 gene: TCT (241Ser)>TCG (241Ser). Frequencies of $D_1$ allele varied from 0.600 to 1.000 in Chinese 801 goats. Significant associations of DdeI polymorphism with production traits were found in milk yield (*p<0.05), litter size (*p<0.05) and one-year-old weight (*p<0.05) between different genotypes. Individuals with genotype $D_1D_1$ had a superior performances when compared to those with genotype $D_1D_2$ (*p<0.05). Hence, the POU1F1 gene was suggested to the potential candidate gene for superior milk performance, reproduction trait and weight trait. Genotype $D_1D_1$, characterized by a DdeI PCR-RFLP detection, was recommended to geneticists and breeders as a molecular marker for better performance in the goat industry.

Admittance Spectroscopic analysis was applied to study the effect of LiF buffer layer and to model the equivalent circuit for poly(2-methoxy-5-(2'-ethylhexyloxy)-1,4-phenylenevinylene) (MEH-PPV)-based polymer light emitting diodes (PLEDs) with the LiF cathode buffer layer. The single layer device with ITO/MEH-PPV/Al structure can be modeled as a simple parallel combination of resistor and capacitor. Insertion of a LiF layer at the Al/MEH-PPV interface shifts the highest occupied molecular orbital level and the vacuum level of the MEH-PPV layer as a result the barrier height for electron injection at the Al/MEH-PPV interface is reduced. The admittance spectroscopy measurement of the devices with the LiF cathode buffer layer shows reduction in contact resistance ($R_c$), parallel resistance ($R_p$) and increment in parallel capacitance ($C_p$).

The mechanism of anti-aging of fermented jujube (Zizyphus jujuba fruits (ZJF)) was investigated using transgenic daf-16 and mev-1 strains of C. elegans. Jujube extracts fermented for 7 days (F7-ZJF) and 14 days (F14-ZJF) with Laetiporus sulphureus were treated to a NGM agar plate with 10-15 transgenic daf-16 and mev-1 strains of the synchronized age. There was no difference of lifespan between the drug-treated group (7-day fermented ex. (F7-zjf-200 ㎍/mL), 14-day fermented ex. (F14-zjf-200 ㎍/mL)) and the non-treatment group in both daf-16 and mev-1 strains. In the thermal stress experiment, F7-zjf-200 ㎍/mL showed a significant (t = 4.017) activity in thermal stress resistance with a 12% higher survival rate than the control group. In the survival test in H2O2, F7-zjf-200 ㎍/mL and F14-zjf-100 ㎍/mL have significant activity in oxidative stress resistance compared to the control group. This study indicates that life span expand of N2 strain of the jujube extract is related to the regulation of daf-16 and inhibition of mev-1 signal in C. elegans.

This paper has been carried out to find the thermal efficiency and operating characteristics of heatpipe type solar collector using a glass concentric evacuated tube(CETC) during summer. In an experiment the flow rate of water in collector are 1.5l/min. Collector efficiency is $50{\sim}60%$ during time. The solar radiation appeared in a clear day is efficiency high. Efficiency curve fitted first order polynomial show that $F_{R}$$({\tau}{\alpha})$ and $F_{R}U_{L}$=1.316 is 0.601 and 1.316 respectively.

In this paper, to have a better a posteriori error bound of the average case error between the true value of I(f) and the Trapezoidal rule on subintervals using zero mean-Gaussian, we prove that a new average error between the difference of the true value of I(f) from the composite Trapezoidal rule and that of the composite Trapezoidal rule from the simple Trapezoidal rule is bounded by $c_rH^{2r+3}$ through direct computation of constants $c_r$ for r ${\leq}$ 2 under the assumption that we have subintervals (for simplicity equal length h) partitioning [0, 1].

When 3-acetyl coumarin derivatives are treated with bromine, 3-(w-bromoacetyl) coumarin derivatives are obtained. The reaction of 3-(w-bromoacetyl)coumarin derivatives with thiourea or with amines for two hours leads to the formation of 2-Amino-4-(3-coumarinyl) thiazole or 3-(w-aminoacetyl) coumarin derivatives, respectively. While 3-(w-bromoacetyl) coumarin derivatives react with amines for 5-8 hours to yield imino derivatives of 3-(w-aminoacetyl) coumarin. The antimicrobial activity of Ia-b, IIa-c, IVc-f, IVh and V$_{c}$, f, h, k, m, and q was studied.d.
