To apply the real-time kinematic GPS surveying technique, this research has tried to obtain the TOKYO datum first from the continuous reference stations distributed all over the country. Then, analysis of the geography of a coastal area including both of land and sea has been carried out by the post-processed continuous kinematic GPS technique and the real-time kinematic GPS surveying technique. After considering the initial conditions and measuring time zone for real-time kinematic GPS, post-processed and the real-time kinematic GPS measurements have been carried out. A new system has been proposed to store measured data by using a program developed to store GPS data in real time and to monitor the satellite condition through controller simultaneously. The accuracy of GPS data acquired in real time was as good as that acquired by post processing. It is expected that it will be useful for the analysis of coastal geographic characteristics because DTM can be also constructed for the harbor reclamation, the dredging and the variation of soil movement in a river.

The OPRoS (Open Platform for Robotic Service) framework provides uniform operating environment for service robots. As an OPRoS-based service robot has to support real-time as well as non-real-time applications, application of Windows NT kernel based operating system can be restrictive. On the other hand, various benefits such as rich library and device support and abundant developer pool can be enjoyed when service robots are built on Windows NT. The paper presents a user-mode component scheduler of OPRoS, which can provide near real-time scheduling service on Windows NT based on the restricted real-time features of Windows NT kernel. The component scheduler thread with the highest real-time priority in Windows NT system acquires CPU control. And then the component scheduler suspends and resumes each periodic component executors based on its priority and precedence dependency so that the component executors are scheduled in the preemptive manner. We show experiment analysis on the performance limitations of the proposed scheduling technique. The analysis and experimental results show that the proposed scheduler guarantees highly reliable timing down to the resolution of 10ms.

In order to distinguish fault electric motors automatically in real time. an intelligent diagnosis technique may be required. This paper presents an automatic fault detection system for electric motors by using their acoustic noises. Time signals of each candidate motor were measured in an anechoic chamber for further analysis. Spectral analysis was first carried out and they showed that two typical types of fault motors could be successfully distinguished in the frequency domain; bearing faults and scratches. Unlike the trend of normal motors that shows only a single dominant peak at around 2000 ㎐, several peaks are bunched together in bearing fault motors. On the other hand, large frequency noises at around 6500 ㎐ are newly arisen in scratchy fault motors. However, the processing time for spectral analysis was rather long for a real time application in production lines. Thus, a number of band-pass filters were used in the time domain instead for a real time application. Before applying filters, the bands of filters were set from the information of spectral analysis. By applying a set of band-pass filters, the RMS values of each filtered signal were calculated, and thus the normal and damaged motors could be successfully distinguished.
Linux is a general-purpose operating system that supports several schedulers, allowing different schedulers to coexist. In addition, Linux uses the Control Group (cgroup) to reserve CPU resources for task groups that follow the real-time (SCHED_FIFO, SCHED_RR) and non-real-time (SCHED_NORMAL) scheduler policies, except for the deadline scheduler (SCHED_DEADLINE). The cgroup performs the schedulability analysis to guarantee the reserved CPU resource as much as possible. However, current implementation of the schedulability analysis does not distinguish between deadline tasks and real-time tasks. Therefore, if these deadline tasks and real-time task groups coexist, there is a case where the resource reservation for the real-time task group is rejected. In this paper, we analyze the problems in the schedulability analysis for real-time task groups of Linux cgroups and propose patches to solve these problems.
Real time transient stability assessment mainly depends on real-time prediction. Unfortunately, conventional techniques based on offline analysis are too slow and unreliable in complex power systems. Hence, fast and reliable stability prediction methods and simple stability criterions must be developed for real time purposes. In this paper, two new methods for real time determining critical clearing time based on clustering identification are proposed. This article is covering three main sections: (i) clustering generators and recognizing critical group; (ii) replacing the multi-machine system by a two-machine dynamic equivalent and eventually, to a one-machine-infinite-bus system; (iii) presenting a new method to predict post-fault trajectory and two simple algorithms for calculating critical clearing time, respectively established upon two different transient stability criterions. The performance is expected to figure out critical clearing time within 100ms-150ms and with an acceptable accuracy.
This paper presents a study of a DFIG wind power generation system for real-time simulations. For real-time simulations, the Real-Time Digital Simulator (RTDS) and its user friendly interface simulation software RSCAD are used. A 2.2MW grid-connected variable speed DFIG wind power generation system is modeled and analyzed in this study. The stator-flux oriented vector control scheme is applied to the stator/rotor side converter control, and the back-to-back PWM converters are implemented for the decoupled control. The real-wind speed signal extracted by an anemometer is used for a realistic, reliable and accurate simulation analysis. Block diagrams, a mathematical presentation of the DFIG and a control scheme of the stator/rotor-side are introduced. Real-time simulation cases are carried out and analyzed for the validity of this work.
It is generally known that electrochemical impedance spectroscopy is a powerful technique and its real-time application has been demanded for prompt observations on instantaneous electrochemical changes. Nevertheless, long measurement time and laborious analysis procedures have hindered development of it. Solving the problems, here I report of a new algorithm design for development of a real-time electrochemical impedance monitoring system, which potentially provides a guideline in developing monitoring systems of electric vehicles batteries and other electrochemical power plants. The significant progress in this report is employment of the parallel processing protocol which connects independent sub functions to successfully operate with avoiding mutual interruptions. Therefore, all the processes required to monitor electrochemical impedance changes in realtime are properly operated. To realize the conceptual scheme, a Labview program was coded with sub functions units which conduct their processes individually and only data are transferred between them through the parallel pipelines. Finally, measured impedance spectra and analysis results are displayed, which are synchronized according to the time of change.
As complexity of real-time systems is being increased ad hoc approaches to analysis of such systems would have limitations in completeness and coverability for states space search. Formal means using a model-based approach would solve such limitations. This paper proposes a model-based formal method for logical analysis, such as safety and liveness, of real-time systems at a discrete event system level. A discrete event model for real-time systems to be analyzed is specified by DEVS(Discrete Event Systems Specification) formalism, which specifies a discrete event system in hierarchical, modular manner. Analysis of such DEVS models is performed by Communicating DEVS (C-DEVS) formalism of a timed global state transition specification and an associated analysis algorithm. The C-DEVS formalism and an associated analysis algorithm guarantees that all possible states for a given system are visited in an analysis phase. A case study of a safety analysis for a rail road crossing system illustrates the effectiveness of the proposed method of the model-based approach.

Compliance effect consideration method for real-time multibody vehicle dynamics is proposed using quasi-static analysis. The multibody vehicle model without bush elements is used based on the subsystem synthesis method which provides real-time computation on the multibody vehicle model. Reaction forces are computed in the suspension subsystem. According to deformation from the quasi-static analysis using reaction forces and bush stiffness, suspension hardpoint locations and suspension linkage orientation are changed. To validate the proposed method, quarter car simulations of McPherson strut and multilink suspension subsystems are performed. Full car bump run simulations and fish hook handling test simulations are also carried out comparing with the ADAMS vehicle model with bush elements. CPU times are also measured to see the real-time capabilities of the proposed method.
In this paper, a realization of a real-time train information system(TIS) is discussed. The requirements of TIS which satisfy real-time constraints are analyzed in view of data transfer. For efficient data communication in TIS, a new network system is suggested and its real-time characteristics are analyzed and compared with the standard network system. A local unit is designed based on VMEbus system.
