This paper deals with the application of enhanced perturbation estimation (SMCEPE) to sliding mode control of a dynamic system in the presence of perturbations including external disturbances, unpredictable parameter variations, and unstructured dynamics. Compared to conventional sliding mode control (SMC) and sliding mode control with perturbation estimation (SMCPE), the proposed one can offer robust control performances under serious control conditions, such as fast dynamic perturbations and slow loop-closure speeds, without a priori knowledge on upper bounds of perturbations. The perturbation estimator in SHCEPE also has more adaptability owing to the fractional-order hold technique. The effectiveness and superiority of the proposed control strategy are demonstrated by a series of simulations on the position tracking control of a two-link robot manipulator.
This paper deals with the robustness of a direct adaptive pole-placement control algorithm for continuous time plants with unmodeled dynamics. In this paper, least squares method is used for controller parameter adaptation and covariance matrix update equation is modified by normalizing signal to guarantee the boundedness of all signals in the closed loop system. In the proposed algorithm, no a priori knowledge is required and it is shown that persistence of excitation condition is required to ensure the stability of the closed loop system.
Hamilton's principle is used to derive Euler-Lagrange equations for free surface flow problems of incompressible ideal fluid. The velocity field is chosen to satisfy the continuity equation a priori. This approach results in a hierarchial set of governing equations consist of two evolution equations with respect to two canonical variables and corresponding boundary value problems. The free surface elevation and the Lagrange's multiplier are the canonical variables in Hamilton's sense. This Lagrange's multiplier is a velocity potential defined on the free surface. Energy is conserved as a consequence of the Hamiltonian structure. These equations can be applied to waves in water of finite depth including generalization of Hamilton's equations given by Miles and Salmon.
We consider the problem y"=a(x,y)(y-b), y(0)=0, y'(1)=g(y(${\xi}$), y'(${\xi}$)), (0${\xi}$ fixed in(0,1)) as a model of steady-slate heat conduction in a rod when the heat flux at the end x = 1 is determined by observation of the temperature and heat flux at some interior point ${\xi}$. We establish conditions sufficient for existence, uniqueness.
In this paper, we present analytic forms of the ordered weighted averaging (OWA) operator weighting functions, each of which has properties of rank-based weights and a constant level of orness, irrespective of the number of objectives considered. These analytic forms provide significant advantages for generating OWA weights over previously reported methods. First, OWA weights can be efficiently generated by use of proposed weighting functions without solving a complicated mathematical program. Moreover, convex combinations of these specific OWA operators can be used to generate OWA operators with any predefined values of orness once specific values of orness are α priori stated by decision maker. Those weights have a property of constant level of orness as well. Finally, OWA weights generated at a predefined value of orness make almost no numerical difference with maximum entropy OWA weights in terms of dispersion.
This paper describes a single channel speech enhancement as the pre-processor of automatic speech recognition system. The improvements are based on using optimally modified log-spectra (OM-LSA) gain function with a non-causal a priori signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) estimation. Experimental results show that the proposed method gives better perceptual evaluation of speech quality score (PESQ) and lower log-spectral distance, and also better word accuracy. In the enhancement system, parameters was turned for automatic speech recognition.

Adaptive control systems based upon the command generator tracker(CGT) approach have attracted considerable interest because of the simple structure of its adaptive controller. Some attempts to such improve the adaptive control algorithm, for the sake of the application to broader class of plants, are made. Recently, Su and Sobel(1992) proposed that those schemes can be treated by an unified theory using a metasystem representation with some types of supplementary dynamics. However, in their method, it is difficult to find the dynamic compensator, which is proper and output feedback stabilizable, for the uncertain plant. This paper proposes a new design method of such supplementary dynamics and some parameters of adaptive control system for linear time invariant SISO plants. The method gives a concrete and systematic design method using only a few priori knowledge of the plant.
Random drift rate (i.e., random drift in angle rate) of a gyro represents the major error source of inertial navigation systems that are required to operate over long time intervals. It is uncorrectable and leads to an increase in the error with the passage of time. In this paper a technique is presented for analyzing random process from experimental data and the results are presented. The problem of estimating the a priori statistics of a random process is considered using time averages of experimental data. Time averages are calculated and used in the optimal data-processing techniques to determine the statistics of the random process. Therefore the contribution each component to the gyro drift process can be quantitatively measured by its statistics. The above techniques will be applied to actual gyro drift rate data with satisfactory results.
This paper proposed a scheme for finding an optimal adaptive data association for multi-target between measurements and tracks. First, we assume the relationships between measurements as Mrkov Random Field. Also assumed a priori of the associations as a Gibbs distribution. Based on these assumptions, it was possible to reduce the MAP estimate of the association matrix to the energy minimization problem. After then, we defined an energy function over the measurement space, that may incorporate most of the important natural constraints. Through the experiments, we analyzed and compared this algorithm with other representative algorithms. The result is that it is stable, robust, fast enough for real timecomputation, as well as more accurate than other methods.
This study investigates the free and forced vibration characteristics of an annular piezoelectric motor stator constructed of two piezoelectric material layers and one stainless steel layer. The annular piezoelectric motor stator is subjected to a travelling load produced by piezo drive electrical voltage input to the two piezoelectric layers. The stator is modeled as an annular laminated plate based on the classical plate theory and the governing equations are derived via Hamilton's variational principle. Variation of the free vibration characteristics as a function of several design parameters has been studied and based on this result, the forced vibration responses to the input electricity of various frequencies and magnitudes are investigated. The obtained results will provide an important criterion, a priori, in the design of piezoelectric motors.
