  • Accurate load modeling is essential for power system static and dynamic analysis. By the nature of the problem of parameter estimation for power system load modeling using actual measurements, multiple local optimal solutions may exist and local methods can be trapped in a local optimal solution giving possibly poor performance. In this paper, Trust-Tech, a novel methodology for global optimization, is applied to tackle the multiple local optimal solutions issue in measurement-based power system load modeling. Multiple sets of parameter values of a composite load model are obtained using Trust-Tech in a deterministic manner. Numerical studies indicate that Trust-Tech along with conventional local methods can be successfully applied to power system load model parameter estimation in measurement-based approaches.

  • In many situations, it is very important to identify a certain unkown system, it from its input-output data. For this purpose, several system modeling algorithms have been suggested heretofore, and studies regarding the fuzzy modeling based on its nonlinearity get underway as well. Generatlly, fuzzy models have the capability of dividing input space into several subspaces, compared to linear ones. But hitherto subggested fuzzy modeling algorithms do not take into consideration the correlations between components of sample input data and address them independently of each other, which results in ineffective partition of input space. Therefore, to solve this problem, this letter proposes a new fuzzy modeling algorithm which partitions the input space more efficiently that conventional methods by taking into consideration correlations between components of sample data. As a way to use correlation and divide the input space, the method of principal component is ued. Finally, the results of computer simulation are given to demonstrate the validity of this algorithm.

  • In this paper, we present a formal method for modeling and checking an enhanced version of the carrier sense multiple access with collision avoidance protocol related to the IEEE 802.11 MAC layer, which has been proposed as the standard protocol for wireless local area networks. We deal mainly with the distributed coordination function (DCF) procedure of this protocol throughout a sequence of transformation steps. First, we use the unified modeling language state machines to thoroughly capture the behavior of wireless stations implementing a DCF, and then translate them into the input language of the UPPAAL model checking tool, which is a network of communicating timed automata. Finally, we proceed by checking of some of the safety and liveness properties, such as deadlock-freedom, using this tool.

  • Power line communication channels are very complicated and models for communication channels vary with the types of electrical equipment, devices and load fluctuations. So, modeling and analysis of power line channels for implementation of power line communication systems is a very important process. Power line channel modeling and simulation are performed based on power system transient simulation models and power system CAD tools to create precise and accurate models. In this paper, a channel modeling and simulation method is proposed for power line communication systems using PSCAD/EMTDC, in which a PN 63 sequence code generator is applied for impulse response of the power line channel in the simulation model.

  • While most of the existing protection schemes have been designed with local information around individual components, these local schemes are not considered capable of protecting the modern electric power gird with growing complexity. Recent blackouts in North America and Europe have renewed the emphasis on coordinated protection and control actions to avoid systemwide blackouts, utilizing all of the available grid information. Thus, this paper proposes a new methodology, Agent-based Colored Petri Net (ACPN) modeling for systematically representing, modeling and analyzing information flows and interactions among the entities of the electric power grid. The paper demonstrates its efficacy and accuracy by investigating an ACPN model of a wide area protection system for a typical power grid. The proposed modeling and analysis schemes may further provide a framework to help assure reliability and interoperability of diverse smart grid components.

  • Anti-lock Brake System has been developed to reduce tendency for wheel lock and improve vehicle control during sudden braking on slippery road surfaces. This is achieved by controlling the braking pressure avoiding wheel lock, while retaining handling and brake performance. This paper is concerned about characteristics of a solenoid valve in hydraulic modulator for controlling brake pressure. First, it was modeling the electromagnet by the permeance method. Second, it was modeling the commercial Maxwell poackage program. And then, a experiment was performed in order to justify modeling. The result of modeling coincided with teh result of experiment and commercial packabe program. As a result, these modelings will be able to use in analysis of dynamic character- istics of the solenoid valve for braking.

  • Excavation for construction is implemented in natural geographical terrain using a variety of construction equipment. Therefore, 3D excavation simulation requires integration of geographical and equipment modeling. This paper proposes a technique that integrates geographical and equipment modeling for 3D simulations of construction excavation. The geographical model uses a digital map to show ground surface changes during excavation and the equipment model shows equipment movement and placement. This combination produced a state of the art 3D simulation environment that can be used for machine guidance. An equipment operator can use the 3D excavation simulation to help construction equipment operators with decisions during excavation work and consequently improve productivity.

  • Purpose The traditional topic modeling technique makes it difficult to distinguish the semantic of topics because the key words assigned to each topic would be also assigned to other topics. This problem could become severe when the number of online reviews are small. In this paper, the extended model of topic modeling technique that can be used for analyzing a small amount of online reviews is proposed. Design/methodology/approach The extended model of being proposed in this paper is a form that combines the traditional topic modeling technique and the Word2Vec technique. The extended model only allocates main words to the extracted topics, but also generates discriminatory words between topics. In particular, Word2vec technique is applied in the process of extracting related words semantically for each discriminatory word. In the extended model, main words and discriminatory words with similar words semantically are used in the process of semantic classification and naming of extracted topics, so that the semantic classification and naming of topics can be more clearly performed. For case study, online reviews related with Udo in Tripadvisor web site were analyzed by applying the traditional topic modeling and the proposed extension model. In the process of semantic classification and naming of the extracted topics, the traditional topic modeling technique and the extended model were compared. Findings Since the extended model is a concept that utilizes additional information in the existing topic modeling information, it can be confirmed that it is more effective than the existing topic modeling in semantic division between topics and the process of assigning topic names.
