최적화 기법을 이용한 다자유도 충격응답스펙트럼의 오차 개선 (The Improvement of Multi-dof Impulse Response Spectrum by Using Optimization Technique)

  • The spectrum of impulse response signal from an impulse hammer testing is widely used to obtain frequency response function (FRF) of the structure. However the FRFs obtained from impact hammer testing have not only leakage errors but also finite record length errors when the record length for the signal processing is not sufficiently long. The errors cannot be removed with the conventional signal analyzer which treats the signals as if they are always steady and periodic. Since the response signals generated by the impact hammer are transient and have damping, they are undoubtedly non-periodic. It is inevitable that the signals be acquired for limited recording time, which causes the finite record length error and the leakage error. In this paper, the errors in the frequency response function of multi degree of freedom system are formulated theoretically. And the method to remove these errors is also suggested. This method is based on the optimization technique. A numerical example of 3-dof model shows the validity of the proposed method.

Extraction of quasi-static component from vehicle-induced dynamic response using improved variational mode decomposition

  • The quasi-static component of the moving vehicle-induced dynamic response is promising in damage detection as it is sensitive to bridge damage but insensitive to environmental changes. However, accurate extraction of quasi-static component from the dynamic response is challenging especially when the vehicle velocity is high. This paper proposes an adaptive quasi-static component extraction method based on the modified variational mode decomposition (VMD) algorithm. Firstly the analytical solutions of the frequency components caused by road surface roughness, high-frequency dynamic components controlled by bridge natural frequency and quasi-static components in the vehicle-induced bridge response are derived. Then a modified VMD algorithm based on particle swarm algorithm (PSO) and mutual information entropy (MIE) criterion is proposed to adaptively extract the quasi-static components from the vehicle-induced bridge dynamic response. Numerical simulations and real bridge tests are conducted to demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed extraction method. The results indicate that the improved VMD algorithm could extract the quasi-static component of the vehicle-induced bridge dynamic response with high accuracy in the presence of the road surface roughness and measurement noise.

PID 제어기의 주파수응답 기반 다목적 설계도구 (Frequency Response Based Multi-Objective Design Toolbox for PID Controller)

  • Recently, a direct data-driven synthesis of a proportional integral derivative(PID) controller for a linear time-invariant(LTI) plant was presented in [1]. The authors showed that a complete set of PID controllers achieving robust performance and stability can be calculated directly from frequency response(FR) data without an identified transfer function model. However, it is not convenient to use this method because it requires complicated numerical algorithms to find specific frequencies which are solutions of an identical equation. The method also requires determination of the boundary of the controller's parameters from a finite set of FR data. In this paper, we present the development of a user-friendly Matlab toolbox based on the method in [1]. This toolbox allows us to obtain a complete three-dimensional(3-D) graphical solution of PID controllers that meet multiple design objectives. Several examples are given to demonstrate the use of the toolbox.

  • In this paper, we propose an alternative analysis to regulate DC motors using a PID controller with a gain scaling factor. We start by providing a systematic design method for selecting the PID gains of our proposed controller by seeing the effect of ϵ on damping ratio, overshoot and settling time from the frequency response analysis. With the help of matlab (simulink), We proceed to show that the proposed controller provides robust stability against system parameter uncertainty and the effect of the gain scaling factor on steady-state error. The validity of our control method along with the analysis is verified with the simulation results.

  • We have investigated equivalent-circuit analysis of organic light-emitting diodes using frequency-dependent response of $ITO/Alq_3(60nm)/Al$ device at two different bias voltages. Complex impedance Z of the device was measured in the frequency range of 40Hz~1MHz. A Cole-Cole plot shows that there are two dielectric relaxations at the bias below turn-on voltage, and one relaxation at the bias above turn-on voltage. We are able to interpret the frequency-dependent response in terms of equivalent-circuit model of contact resistance $R_s$ in series with parallel combination of resistance $R_p$ and capacitance $C_p$. We have obtained contact resistance $R_s$ around $90{\Omega}$, mainly from the ITO anode.

  • In this paper, we propose an active controller for high-speed pantograph in order to improve the transient response. Electrical power is delivered from a catenary to the train via a pantograph and thus it is very important to regulate the contact force between catenary and pantograph. By regarding the catenary displacement as an unknown disturbance input and analyzing the frequency response from the disturbance to contract force. we present an active controller that utilizes the lead compensator and resonant controller. It is shown by the computer simulation that the substantial improvement in transient response can be achieved by the proposed controller.

  • The finite element analysis is frequently used to predict dynamic responses of complex structures. Since the predicted responses often differ from experimentally measured ones, updating of the finite element models is performed to make the finite element results agree with the measured ones. Among several model updating methods, one is to use FRF(frequency response function) data without a modal analysis. This paper investigates characteristics of the model updating method in order to improve the method. The investigation is focused on how to obtain FRFs for unmeasured rotational displacements and how to consider damping. For the investigation simulated data and experimental data for a cantilever beam are used.

  • An improved method based on a normal frequency response function (FRF) is proposed to identify structural parameters such as mass, stiffness and damping matrices directly from the FRFs of a linear mechanical system. The method for estimating structural parameters directly from the measured FRFs of a structure is presented. This paper demonstrates that the characteristic matrices are extracted more accurately by using a weighted equation and eliminating the matrix inverse operation. The method is verified for a four degree-of-freedom lumped parameter system and an eight degree-of-freedom finite element beam. Experimental verification is also performed for a free-free steel beam whose size and physical properties are the same as those of the finite element beam. The results show that the structural parameters, especially the damping matrix, can be estimated more accurately by the proposed method.

Analysis of elastic wave propagation in long beam using Fourier transformation

  • This paper presents a novel method for modeling elastic wave propagation in long beams. The proposed method derives a solution for the transient transverse displacement of the beam's neutral axis without assuming the separation of variables (SV). By mapping the governing equation from the space domain to the frequency domain using Fourier transformation (FT), the transverse displacement function is determined as a convolution integral of external loading functions and a combination of trigonometric and Fresnel functions. This method determines the beam's response to general loading conditions as a linear combination of the analytical response of a beam subjected to an abrupt localized loading. The proposed solution method is verified through finite element analysis (FEA) and wave propagation patterns are derived for tone burst loading with specific frequency contents. The results demonstrate that the proposed solution method accurately models wave dispersion, reduces computational cost, and yields accurate results even for high-frequency loading.

고압전동기 고정자 권선에서 부분방전 펄스의 전송 (Propagation of Partial Discharge Pulse in High Voltage Motor Stator Windings)

  • This paper is to investigate how partial discharge pulse signal can flow in 6.6㎸ motor stator windings. Pulse propagation is experimentally analyzed in stator windings using a variety of frequency-domain techniques. The experiments were performed on two stator windings in the laboratory. Spectrum analyzer(9KHz to 3㎓) with tracking generator(100kHz to 3㎓) was used. Sweep time of the tracking generator was looms. The frequency spectrum of the response signal was detected by active FET probe(1㎓). The active FET probe has a flat amplitude response up to 1㎓ without high frequency attenuation. The stator winding acts as a low-pass filter below 600KHz, the high-frequency components being highly declined. The resonance peaks show about 1.1MHz and 2MHz in low frequency of No. 1 and No. 2 stator windings, respectively. This low-frequency range indicates that attenuation is low. The peaks of partial discharge magnitude show about 900MHz, 1.6MHz in No. 1 stator winding and about 800KHz, 1.4MHz in No. 2 stator winding.
