Design of track path-finding simulation using Unity ML Agents

  • 본 연구에서는 강화학습 기술을 이용하여, 시뮬레이션이나 게임 환경 내에서 개체의 경로 탐색을 위한 시뮬레이션을 개발하는 것을 목표로 한다. 본 연구에서는 주어진 트랙 위에 생성된 임의 위치의 장애물을 회피하고, 아이템을 획득할 수 있는 경로를 자동으로 탐색할 수 있도록 시뮬레이션 내 개체를 학습시킨 점이 주된 특징이다. 해당 시뮬레이션을 구현하기 위해 유니티 게임 엔진에서 제공하는 ML 에이전트 (Machine Learning Agents)를 사용하였고, PPO(Proximal Policy Optimization)에 기반을 둔 학습 정책을 수립하여 강화학습 환경을 구성한다. 본 논문에서 제안한 강화학습 기반의 시뮬레이션을 통해, 개체가 학습을 진행할수록 장애물을 회피하고, 아이템을 획득할 수 있는 경로를 탐색해 트랙 위를 움직이고 있다는 점을 시뮬레이션 결과와 학습 결과 그래프를 분석하여 확인할 수 있다.

  • In this study, a real-time simulation method for the phenomena, which are too complex to be simulated during real-time computer games, was proposed based on the neural network. The procedure of proposed method is to 1) obtain correlation data between input parameters and output parameters by mathematical modeling, code analyses, and so on, 2) train the neural network with the correlation data, 3) and insert the trained neural network in a game program as a simulation module. For the case that the number of the input and output parameters is too high to be analyzed, a method was proposed to omit parameters of little importance. The method was successfully applied to severe accidents of nuclear power plants, reflecting that the method was very effective in real time simulation of complex phenomena.

  • With the increasing complexity of man-made systems, computer simulation has become a widely used tool for the design and analysis of complex system. When computer simulation is used for the purpose of system design, the analysts want to develop strategies to achieve some pre-defined target condition for an output of interest while simultaneously minimizing its variance. The goal of this research is to develop and demonstrate a new method for the design of robust systems with multiple responses using the fuzzy satisfaction function and computer simulation experiments.

컴퓨터 시뮬레이션을 이용한 저항용접에 관한 연구 (A study on the stress distribution and nugget formation in resistance welding process using computer simulation)

  • The thermomechanical coupling phenomena in the resistance welding process is complicated due to interactions of mechanical, thermal and electrical factors. Although experimental investigations of resistance spot welding have been carried out, but there are a few by computer simulation. so the purpose of this research is to decrease the time and cost much required in experimental investigation by carrying out the analysis of the resistance spot welding process through computer simulation based on the finite element method. The tool used in the computer simulation is the commercial ANSYS program package. A two dimensional axisymetric model is used to simulate the resistance spot welding for two stainless steel sheets of equal thickness and parametric study is carried out for variable welding current, workpieces of unequal thickness and dissimilar materials. The results from the computer simulation are in good agreement with the experimental one. Through these results, such items as stress distribution, temperature profiles, thermal expansion and weld nugget formation are predicted. Reliability and applicability of finite element models have been demonstrated to simulate and to analyze the resistance spot welding process.

Level Set Advection of Free Fluid Surface Modified by Surface Tension

  • Fluids appear in innumerable phenomena; therefore, it is interesting to reproduce those phenomena by computer graphics techniques. However, this process is not trivial. We work with a fluid simulation that uses Navier-Stokes equations to model the fluid, a semi-Lagrangian approach to solve it and the level set method to track the surface of the fluid. Modified versions of the Navier-Stokes equations for computer graphics allow us to create a wide diversity of effects. In this paper, we propose a technique that allows us to integrate a force inspired by surface tension into the model. We describe which information we need and how to modify the model with this new approach. We end up with a modified simulation that has additional effects that might be suitable for computer graphics purposes. The effects that we are able to recreate are small waves and droplet-like formations close to the surface of the fluid. This model preserves the overall behavior governed by the Navier-Stokes equations.

  • Three-dimensional (3D) computed tomography image models are helpful in reproducing the maxillofacial area; however, they do not necessarily provide an accurate representation of dental occlusion and the state of the teeth. Recent efforts have focused on improvement of dental imaging by replacement of computed tomography with other detailed digital images. Unfortunately, despite the advantages of medical simulation software in dentofacial analysis, diagnosis, and surgical simulation, it lacks adequate registration tools. Following up on our previous report on orthognathic simulation surgery using computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) software, we recently used the registration functions of a CAD/CAM platform in conjunction with surgical simulation software. Therefore, we would like to introduce a new technique, which involves use of the registration functions of CAD/CAM software followed by transfer of the images into medical simulation software. This technique may be applicable when using various registration function tools from different software platforms.

  • This paper deals with the case study that determines the best operating system of a container terminal using computer simulation techniques. For the simulation, SIMAN simulation language is used. The simulation model developed circumvents the dimensional restrictions imposed by the SIMAN package. Non-terminating simulation experiments are conducted for the 90 days' work on the basis of operation practices of real terminals.

  • 최근 응용과학 분야에서 복잡한 공학문제를 해결하기위해 수학적 모델링과 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션의 이용 빈도가 점점 증가함에 따라, 연구자들이 보다 쉽고 편리하게 시뮬레이션 기반의 연구를 수행할 수 있는 시뮬레이션 프레임워크의 필요성이 증대되고 있다. 시뮬레이션 프레임워크는 전처리기, 해석 코드, 가시화 프로그램, 계산 자원 및 작업관리기와 같은 다양한 컴포넌트들로 구성된다. 하지만, 현재까지는 시뮬레이션 프레임워크 컴포넌트들의 표준화된 스키마 및 인터페이스 규칙이 없기 때문에 범용적인 시뮬레이션 프레임워크의 구성이 어렵다. 즉, 대부분의 기존 시뮬레이션 프레임워크는 특정 해석 코드에 종속되어 제한적인 기능만을 제공하는 구조이다. 본 논문에서는 계산과학 분야의 다양하고 상이한 해석 코드들을 수용할 수 있는 시뮬레이션 프레임워크 구성을 위한 해석 코드의 메타정보 스키마를 설계하고, 이를 이용한 웹기반 시뮬레이션 수행 환경을 구현한다.

그라비어에서 잉크 침투의 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션 (The Computer Simulation of Ink Penetration in the Gravure)

  • The computer simulation is presented of gravure ink transferring behavior and penetration to the paper when an gravure roller is used to transfer a printing ink onto a substrate. The three dimensional unsteady ink motion is simulated by Polyflow package software and experimented by IGT gravure printing test machine. The simulation is performed where the flow domain is bounded above by a stress free surface and bounded below by a moving substrate. Specific predictions are made for particular pattern of cells and substrates. Cell size and ink rheological properties are found to be the principal determination of transferring behavior. Simulation is currently restricted to the flow domain beneath the receding meniscus. Both Newtonian and shear thinning inks are considered.

  • This paper proposes a distributed simulator for general control system in CEMTool. Systems can be described by SIMTool likes the simulink in Matlab. For distributed simulation, we can seperate any system into several parallel subsystems in SIMTool. The number of parallel subsystem can be determined by the system's property. After seperation, parallel simulator will do initialization, one-step-ahead simulation, block-distribution and ordering and so on. Finally, simulator will create independent C codes and executive files for each subsystem. The whole system is fulfilled by several PCs, and each PC executes one subsystem. There are communications among these subsystem using reflective memory or ethernet. We have made several experiments, and the 5-stand cold rolling mill control system is our main target. The result of parallel simulation has shown effective speedup in comparison with one pc simulation.
