Growth and Photoconductive Characteristics of $ZnGa_2Se_4$ Epilayers by the Hot Wall Epitaxy

  • The stochiometric mix of evaporating materials for the $ZnGa_2Se_4$ single crystal thin films were prepared from horizental furnace. The polycrystal structure obtaind from the power x-ray diffraction was defect chalcopyrite. The lattice costants $a_0\;and\;c_0\;were\;a_0=5.51\;A,\;c_0=10.98\;A$. To obtains the single crystal thin films, $ZnGa_2Se_4$ mixed crystal were deposited on throughly etched Si(100) by the Hot Wall Epitaxy (HWE) system. The temperates of the source and the substrate were $590^{\circ}C\;and\;450^{\circ}C$, respectively. The crystalline structure of single crystal thin films was investigated by the double crystal X-ray diffraction(DCXD). Hall effect on this sample was measured by the method of van der Pauw and studied on carrier density and mobility dependence on temperature. In order to explore the applicability as a photoconductive cell, we measured the sensitivity($\gamma$), the ratio of photocurrent to dark current(pc/dc), maximum allowable rower dissipation(MAPD), spectral response and response time.

The Effects of Different Substrates on the Growth, Yield, and Nutritional Composition of Two Oyster Mushrooms (Pleurotus ostreatus and Pleurotus cystidiosus)

  • The study was conducted to compare the effects of different agro-wastes on the growth, yield, and nutritional composition of oyster mushrooms Pleurotus ostreatus (PO) and Pleurotus cystidiosus (PC). Seven substrate formulas including sawdust (SD), corncob (CC), sugarcane bagasse (SB) alone and in combination of 80 : 20, 50 : 50 ratio between SD and CC, SD and SB were investigated. The results indicated that different substrate formulas gave a significant difference in total colonization period, characteristics of fruiting bodies, yield, biological efficiency (BE), nutritional composition and mineral contents of two oyster mushrooms PO and PC. The results showed that increasing CC and SB reduced C/N ratio, and enhanced some mineral contents (Ca, P, and Mg) of substrate formulas. The increased amount of CC and SB of substrate formulas enhanced protein, ash, mineral contents (Ca, K, Mg, Mn, and Zn) of fruiting bodies of both mushrooms. Substrates with 100% CC and 100% SB were the most suitable substrate formulas for cultivation of oyster mushrooms PO and PC in which they gave the highest values of cap diameter, stipe thickness, mushroom weight, yield, BE, protein, fiber, ash, mineral content (Ca, K, and Mg) and short stipe length. However, substrate formula 100% CC gave the slowest time for the first harvest of both mushrooms PO and PC (46.02 days and 64.24 days, respectively). It is also found that the C/N ratio of substrate formulas has close correlation with total colonization period, mushroom weight, yield, BE and protein content of mushroom PO and PC.

Effect of supplementing hydroxy trace minerals (Cu, Zn, and Mn) on egg quality and performance of laying hens under tropical conditions

  • Objective: A pivotal study was designed to investigate the effect of Hydroxy (HYC) Cu, Zn, and Mn on egg quality and laying performance of chickens under tropical conditions. Methods: A total of 1,260 Babcock White laying hens (20-wk-old) were randomly assigned to one of 4 treatments with 15 replicates of 21 hens each in a Randomized Complete Block Design. The birds were reared for 16 weeks and were fed the corn-soybean meal diets supplemented with one of the following mineral treatments: T1, inorganic (INO, 15 ppm CuSO4, 80ppm MnSO4 and 80 ppm ZnO); T2, Hydroxy-nutritional level (HYC-Nut, 15 ppm Cu, 80 ppm Mn, 80 ppm Zn from Hydroxy); T3, Hydroxy-Low (HYC-Low, 15 ppm Cu, 60 ppm Mn, 60 ppm Zn from Hydroxy); T4, Hydroxy plus inorganic (HYC+INO, 7.5 ppm HYC Cu+7.5 ppm CuSO4, 40 ppm HYC ZnO+40 ppm ZnSO4, 40 ppm HYC Mn+40 ppm MnSO4). The egg production was recorded daily, while the feed consumption, feed conversion ratio (FCR) and egg mass were determined at the end of each laying period. The egg quality parameters were assayed in eggs collected over 48 h in each laying period. Results: Overall, no significant effect of treatments was observed on percent egg production, egg weight and FCR (p>0.05). Feed intake was significantly lower in birds fed Hydroxy plus inorganic (p<0.05) diet. The supplementation of HYC-Low significantly increased the egg mass compared to the other treatments (p<0.05). HYC supplementation alone or in combination with INO elicited a positive effect on shell thickness, shell weight, shell weight per unit surface area, yolk colour, albumen and yolk index for a certain period (p<0.05), but not throughout the whole laying period. Conclusion: Dietary supplementation of HYC-Low (15-60-60 mg/kg) showed similar effects on production performance and egg quality characteristics in laying hens as compared to 15-80-80 mg/kg of Cu-Zn-Mn from inorganic sources. This indicates that sulphate based inorganic trace minerals can effectively be substituted by lower concentration of hydroxyl minerals.

Thickness Dependance of Al-doped ZnO Thin Film on Polymer Substrate (폴리머 기판상의 Al-doped ZnO 박막의 두께에 따른 특성 변화)

  • In this paper, we fabricated TCO (transparent conductive oxide) electrode on flexible substrate in order to study effects of electrical and optical properties according to Al-doped ZnO(AZO) film thickness. The thickness of film was from 100 nm to 500 nm and was controlled by changing deposition time. We used High Resolution X-ray Diffractometer (HR-XRD) to analyze crystal structure and UV-visible spectrophotometer to measure property of optical transmittance, respectively. The surface images are obtained by using ESEM (Environment Scanning Electron Microscopy). In this experiment, all the AZO films deposited on flexible substrate show high transmittance over 90% and especially in the films with 400 nm and 500 nm thickness, the resistivity ($4.5{\times}10^{-3}\;{\Omega}-cm$) and optical bandgap energy (3.61 eV) are superior to the other films.

Levels of Serum Lipids, Copper, Zinc, Ceruloplasmin and Ferroxidase Activity in Smoking College Women (흡연 여대생의 혈청 지질, Cu, Zn, Ceruloplasmin 농도 및 Ferroxidase 활성도)

  • This study was done to compare serum levels of lipids, trace minerals, ceruloplasmin and ferroxidase activity between female college smokers and nonsmokers. Serum levels of lipids, Cu, Zn, ceruloplasmin and ferroxidase activity were determined in 33 smokers and 42 nonsmokers residing in the Seoul area. Serum levels of TG, total cholesterol and HDl-cholesterol were measured using test kits. Serum Cu Zn were determined by the AAS. Serum ceruloplasimin level and ferroxidase activity were determined by spectrophotometric methods. All data were statistically analyzed by the SAS PC package program. Mean and standard errors were calculated for each item, and the significance of the difference between two groups was evaluated by Student's t-test at p〈0.05. There was no significant difference in levels of total cholesterol, TG, VLDL-cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, LDL/HDL and atherogenic index, but HDL-cholesterol level was significantly lower(p$\ll$0.05) in female college smokers than in nonsmokers. Serum zinc level showed no significant difference, whereas copper level was significantly higher in smokers, consequently yielding higher Cu/Zn ratio in smoking college women. Ceruloplasmin level was 32.6mg/dl in smoking college women, which was significantly higher(p$\ll$0.05) than that of 28.6mg/dl in nonsmokers. However, cerulopasmin ferroxidase activity, 0.34U/mg in nonsmokers was higher(p$\ll$0.05) than that of 0.29U/mg in smokers. From these results, it is confirmed that cigarette smoking itself has a very detrimental effect on health and mineral nutritional status although the smoking history is relatively short among college women(pack-years=1.7). Prediction of Spatial Distribution Trends of Heavy Metals in Abandoned Gangwon Mine Site by Geostatistical Technique (지구통계학적 기법에 의한 강원폐광부지 중금속의 공간적 분포 양상 예측 연구)

  • This study was performed to evaluate the spatial distribution of heavy metals using principal component analysis and Ordinary Kriging technique in the Gangwon Mine site. In the soils from the sub soil, the contents of Zn and Ni in the PC1 were gradually dispersed from south to north direction, while the components of Cd and Hg in the PC2 showed an increase significantly from middle-south area in the Gangwon Mine site. According to the cluster analysis, pollutant metals of As and Cu were presented a strong spatial autocorrelation structure in cluster D. The concentration of As was 0.83mg/kg and shown to increase from the south to north direction. The spatial distribution maps of the soil components using geostatistical method might be important in future soil remediation studies and help decision-makers assess the potential health risk affects of the abandoned mining sites.

Properties of the Various Power Ratio in GZOB/AU Multilayers (전력비 변화에 따른 Au Multilayer 위에 증착한 GZOB 박막의 특성)

  • We investigated the effects of power ratio on the electrical and optical properties of Au based Ga-, B- codoped ZnO(GZOB) thin films. GZOB thin films were deposited on Au based poly carbonate(PC) substrate with various power in the range from 60 to 120 W by DC magnetron sputtering. In the result, GZOB films at 100 W exhibited a low resistivity value of $1.12\times10^{-3}\Omega-cm$, and a visible transmission of 80 % with a thickness of 300 nm. This result indicated that the addition of Ga and B in ZnO films leads to the improvement of conductivity and transparent. From the result, we can confirm the possibility of the application as transparent conductive electrodes.

  • In this study we investigated the characteristics of GZOB thin film on $O_2$ plasma treated Polycarbonate substrate using DC magnetron sputtering method. In our experiments results, GZOB thin film on $O_2$ plasma treated Polycarbonate substrate showed low resistivity than As-grown GZOB thin film, and visible transmission of 85% with a thickness 400 nm. Compared with As-Grown the electrical properties of GZOB were relatively improved by $O_2$ plasma treated substrate. From these results, we could confirm the suitable GZOB thin films for transparent electrode.

  • The Indium Zinc Tin Oxide (IZTO) thin films for flexible display electrode were deposited on poly carbonate (PC) and polyethersulfone(PES) and glass substrates at room temperature by facing targets sputtering (FTS). Two different kinds of targets were installed on FTS system. One is ITO ($In_2O_3$ 90 wt.%, $SnO_2$ 10 wt.%), the other is IZO ($In_2O_3$ 90 wt.%, ZnO 10 wt.%). As-deposited IZTO thin films were investigated by a UV/VIS spectrometer, an X-ray diffractometer (XRD), an atomic force microscope (AFM) and a Hall Effect measurement system. As a result, we could prepare the IZTO thin films with the resistivity of under $10^{-4}\;[{\Omega}{\cdot}cm]$ and IZTO thin films deposited on glass substrate showed an average transmittance over 80% in visible range (400~800 nm) in all IZTO thin films except in IZTO thin film deposited at $O_2$ gas flow rate of 0.1[sccm].

A Study on the Development of Electrophotographic Photoreceptor by Dye Sensitized System (II) (색소증감에 따른 전자사진 감광체 개발에 관한 연구)

  • 본 연구는기존의 보고에서 보다 감광화효율을 더욱 향상시키기 위하여 결정형이 다른 전하발생물질 (CGM:Charge Generation Material)과 전하수송물질(CTM:Charge Transport Material)을 사용하여 감광체를 만들었고, 이들의 정전특성을 비교검토하였다. 전하발생물질로서 결정형이 다른 $\alpha$-, $\beta$-, x-형 무금속 프탈로시아닌 (H$_{2}$Pc)을 사용한 결과, x-H$_{2}$Pc를 사용한 감광체의 감도는 E$_{1}$2/의 값이 2.62 $\mu$J/$\textrm{cm}^2$로 가장 두수하게 나타났다. 전하발생층(CGL:Charge Generation Layer)에 첨가되는 CGM-CTM, CGM-CTM-ZnO로 구성된 감광체보다 전하발생층에 전하발생계만으로 구성된 감광체의 경우의 전하유지율 (80%) 및 감도(E$_{1}$2/=2.83$\mu$J/$\textrm{cm}^2$)면에서 우수함을 보여주었다. 한편 binder로서 PVB-co-PVA-co-PVA$_{c}$[poly(viny1 butyral-co-viny1 alcohol-co-viny1 acetate)]를 사용했을 때는, CGM-CTM으로 구성된 감광체보다 CGL에 CGM-CTM으로 구성된 감광체의 경우의 전하유지율(71%) 및 감도(E$_{1}$2/=2.62$\mu$J/$\textrm{cm}^2$)면에서 우수함을 보여주었다.
