In this work, we demonstrated a facile and effective method for deposition of metal tetraphenylporphyrin (MTPP) thin film by a combined a thermal evaporation (TE) and atomic layer deposition (ALD). For the deposition of Zn-TPP thin film, Tetraphenylporphyrin (TPP) and diethyl zinc (DEZ) were used as organic and inorganic materials, respectively. Optimum conditions for the deposition of Zn-TPP thin film were established systematically: (1) the exposure time of DEZ as inorganic precursor and (2) the substrate temperature were adjusted, respectively. As a result, we verified that the surface reaction between organic semiconductor (TPP) and metal atom (Zn) was ALD process. In addition, we calculated activation energy by using Arrhenius equation for the substrate temperature versus area change rate of pyrrolic nitrogen. The surface and interface reactions between TPP with Zn were investigated by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, UV-vis spectroscopy, and scanning electron microscopy. These results show a facile and well-controllable fabrication technique for the metal-organic thin film for future electronic applications.
In this investigation, nano ZnO was sonochemically synthesized by a novel method using a methionine precursor. A narrow size distribution (41-50 nm) of nano ZnO was achieved that was immobilized on perlite and applied as a catalyst in catalytic ozonation. The catalyst was characterized by fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, BET surface area, and field emission scanning electron microscope. The ozonation of recalcitrant Remazol black 5 (RB5) di-azo dye solution by means of the synthesized catalyst was investigated in a bubble column slurry reactor. The influence of pH values (7, 9, 11), catalyst dosage (8, 12, 15, $20g\;L^{-1}$) and reaction time (10, 20, 30, 60 min) was investigated. Although the dye color was completely removed by single ozonation at a higher reaction time, the applied nanocatalyst improved the dye declorination kinetics. Also, the degradation of the hazardous aromatic fraction of the dye was enhanced five-times by catalytic ozonation at a low reaction time (10 min) and a neutral pH. The second-order kinetics was best fitted in terms of both RB5 color and its aromatic fraction removal. The total organic carbon analysis indicated a significant improvement in the mineralization of RB5 by catalytic ozonation using the nano-ZnO/perlite catalyst.
A heterogeneous photocatalytic system is attracting much interest for water and air purification because of its reusability and economical advantage. Electrospun nanofibers are also receiving immense attention for efficient photocatalysts due to their ultra-high specific surface areas and aspect ratios. In this study, ZnO nanofibers with average diameters of 71, 151 and 168 nm are successfully synthesized by facile electrospinning and a subsequent calcination process at $500^{\circ}C$ for 3 h. Their crystal structures, morphology features and optical properties are systematically characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, UV-Vis and photoluminescence spectroscopies. The photocatalytic activities of the ZnO nanofibers are evaluated by the photodegradation of a rhodamine B aqueous solution. The results reveal that the diameter of the nanofiber, controlled by changing the polymer content in the precursor solution, plays an important role in the photocatalytic activities of the synthesized ZnO nanofibers.

For the high efficiencies of quantum dot-sensitized solar cells (QDSCs), it is important to control the severe electron recombination at the interface of photoanode/electrolyte. In this work, we optimize the surface passivation process of ZnS/SiO2 double overlayers for the enhanced photovoltaic performances of QDSCs. The overlayers of zinc sulfide (ZnS) and SiO2 are coated on the surface of QD-sensitized photoanode by successive ionic layer adsorption and reaction (SILAR) method, and sol-gel reaction, respectively. In particular, for the sol-gel reaction of SiO2, the influences of temperature of precursor solution are investigated. By application of SiO2 overlayers on the ZnS-coated photoanode, the conversion efficiency of QDSCs is increased from 5.04% to 7.35%. The impedance analysis reveals that the electron recombination at the interface of photoanode/electrolyte is obviously reduced by the SiO2 overlayers.

$Cu_2ZnSn(S_x,Se_{1-x})_4$ (CZTSSe) thin films were prepared by sulfurization of evaporated precursor thin films. Precursor was prepared using evaporation method at room temperature. The sulfurization was carried out in a graphite box with S powder at different temperatures. The temperatures were varied in a four step process from $520^{\circ}C$ to $580^{\circ}C$. The effects of the sulfurization temperature on the micro-structural, morphological, and compositional properties of the CZTSSe thin films were investigated using X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman spectra, field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The XRD and Raman results showed that the sulfurized thin films had a single kesterite crystal CZTSSe. From the FE-SEM and TEM results, the $Mo(S_x,Se_{1-x})_2$ (MoSSe) interfacial layers of the sulfurized CZTS thin films were observed and their thickness was seen to increase with increasing sulfurization temperature. The microstructures of the CZTSSe thin films were strongly related to the sulfurization temperatures. The voids in the CZTSSe thin films increased with the increasing sulfurization temperature.
Transparent conducting undoped and Al impurity doped ZnO films were deposited on glass substrate by spin coat technique using 24 days aged ZnO precursor solution with solution of ethanol and diethanolamine. The films were characterized by UV-Visible spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM), electrical resistivity ($\rho$), carrier concentration (n), and hall mobility ($\mu$) measurements. XRD data show that the deposited film shows polycrystalline nature with hexagonal wurtzite structure with preferential orientation along (002) crystal plane. The SEM images show that surface morphology, porosity and grain sizes are affected by doping concentration. The Al doped samples show high transmittance and better resistivity. With increasing Al concentration only mild change in optical band gap is observed. Optical properties are not affected by aging of parent solution. A lowest resistivity ($8.5 \times 10^{-2}$ ohm cm) is observed at 2 atomic percent (at.%) Al. With further increase in Al concentration, the resistivity started to increase significantly. The decrease resistivity with increasing Al concentration can be attributed to increase in both carrier concentration and hall mobility.

ZnO was synthesized according to the transformation behavior and crystallization conditions of Zn-intermediate obtained by zinc sulfate as a precursor and NaOH, Na2CO3 as a alkali agents. For ZnO crystallization, Zn4(OH)6SO4·H2O and Zn5(OH)6(CO3)2·H2O as a Zn-intermediate were calcined at 400℃ and 800℃ for 1 h, respectively, based on decomposition temperature from TGA. Zn4(OH)6SO4·H2O was confirmed to have mixed Zn4(OH)6SO4·H2O and ZnO at 400℃, and was completely thermally decomposed at 800℃ to form ZnO phase. The prepared Zn5(OH)6(CO3)2·H2O as a Zn-intermediate by the reaction with Na2CO3 was transformed to a complete ZnO crystallization over 400℃. Nano-sized ZnO can be synthesized at a relatively lower calcination temperature through the reaction with Na2CO3.
Ternary Cu/ZnO/$Al_2O_3$ catalysts were prepared by a co-precipitation method. The precursor structures were monitored during the aging. The first precipitate structure was amorphous georgeite, which transformed into the unknown crystalline structure. The transition crystalline structure was assigned to the crystalline georgeite, which was suggested with elemental analysis, IR and XRD. The final structure of precursors was malachite. The Cu surface area of the resulting Cu/ZnO/$Al_2O_3$ was maximized to be 30.6 $m^2$/g at the aging time of 36 h. The further aging rapidly decreased Cu surface areas of Cu/ZnO/$Al_2O_3$. ZnO characteristic peaks in oxide samples almost disappeared after 24 h aging, indicating that ZnO was dispersed in around bulk CuO. TOF of the prepared catalysts of the Cu surface area ranges from 13.0 to 30.6 $m^2/g_{cat}$ was to be 2.67 ${\pm}$ 0.27 mmol/$m^2$.h in methanol synthesis at the condition of $250^{\circ}C$, 50 atm and 12,000 mL/$g_{cat}$. h irrespective of the XRD and TPR patterns of CuO and ZnO structure in CuO/ZnO/$Al_2O_3$. The pH of the precipitate solution during the aging time can be maintained at 7 by $CO_2$ bubbling into the precipitate solution. Then, the decrease of Cu surface area by a long aging time can be prevented and minimize the aging time to get the highest Cu surface area.

Core/shell CdSe/ZnS quantum dots (QDs) are synthesized by a microfluidic reactor-assisted continuous reactor system. Photoluminescence and absorbance of synthesized CdSe/ZnS core/shell QDs are investigated by fluorescence spectrophotometry and online UV-Vis spectrometry. Three reaction conditions, namely; the shell coating reaction temperature, the shell coating reaction time, and the ZnS/CdSe precursor volume ratio, are combined in the synthesis process. The quantum yield of the synthesized CdSe QDs is determined for each condition. CdSe/ZnS QDs with a higher quantum yield are obtained compared to the discontinuous microfluidic reactor synthesis system. The maximum quantum efficiency is 98.3% when the reaction temperature, reaction time, and ZnS/CdSe ratio are $270^{\circ}C$, 10 s, and 0.05, respectively. Obtained results indicate that a continuous synthesis of the Core/shell CdSe/ZnS QDs with a high quantum efficiency could be achieved by isolating the reaction from the external environment.

Nano-sized ZnSe particles are successfully synthesized in an aqueous solution at room temperature using sodium borohydride (NaBH4) and thioglycolic acid (TGA) as the reducing agent and stabilizer, respectively. The effects of the mass ratio of the reducing agent to Se, stabilizer concentration, and stirring time on the synthesis of the ZnSe nanoparticles are evaluated. The light absorption/emission properties of the synthesized nanoparticles are characterized using ultraviolet-visible (UV-vis) spectroscopy, photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy, and particle size analyzer (PSA) techniques. At least one mass ratio (NaBH4/Se) of the reducing agent should be added to produce ZnSe nanoparticles finer than 10 nm and to absorb UV-vis light shorter than the ZnSe bulk absorption wavelength of 460 nm. As the ratio of the reducing agent increases, the absorption wavelengths in the UV-vis curves are blue-shifted. Stirring in the atmosphere acts as a deterrent to the reduction reaction and formation of nanoparticles, but if not stirred in the atmosphere, the result is on par with synthesis in a nitrogen atmosphere. The stabilizer, TGA, has an impact on the Zn precursor synthesis. The fabricated nanoparticles exhibit excellent photo-absorption/discharge characteristics, suggesting that ZnSe nanoparticles can be alloyed without the need for organic solutions or high-temperature environments.
