Recently international regulations governing the amount of harmonic currents(e.g IEC 61000-3-2) became mandatory and active Power factor correction (PFC) pre-regulator circuit became inevitable for the AC/DC converters. Among these topologies, the boost topology represents an optimum solution for a PFC pre-regulation in a high power application. This paper propose improved ZVT(Zero Voltage Transition) AC/DC PFC Boost using the average current control employing a soft-switching technique of the auxiliary switch with a minimum number of components. The conventional ZVT PFC Boost Converter has a disadvantage that the auxiliary switch turns off hard, which influences the overall efficiency and the EMI problem. In this paper, an improved ZVT PFC Boost converter using active snubber is proposed to minimize the switching loss of the auxiliary. The prototype of 100kHz, 640W system was implemented to show the improved performance.
In this paper, an application of the ZVT-PWM(zero-voltage-transition) boost converter, which has great advantage on miniaturization and high power density, to the power factor correction circuit of the EFL(electrodeless fluorescent lamp) inverter is studied. The operation principles of the converter are described to identify the power factor correction characteristic of the inverter. Experimentally obtaining the high power factor above 0.99, it is verified that the power factor correction of the EFL inverter successfully achieved.
본 논문에서는 도통 손실 저감을 위한 ZVT(Zero voltage transition) 부스트 컨버터를 제안하였다.
This paper presents an improved ZVT(Zero Voltage Transition) DC/DC Boost Converter using Active Snubber. The Conventional ZVT PWM Boost Converter is improved to minimize the switching loss of auxiliary switch using the minimum number of the components. In this thesis, advantage and disadvantages of Conventional ZVT Converter using a auxiliary resonant circuit is discussed. Then Improved ZVT soft switching converter will be discussed. In comparison a previous ZVT converter, the proposed converter reduces turn-off switching loss of the auxiliary switch. Therefore, the proposed converter has a high efficiency by active snubber. To show the superiority of this converter is verified through the experiment with a 640W, 100kHz prototype converter.
This paper presents frequency modulation method of zero-voltage-transition interleaved DC/DC converter using auxiliary coupled-inductor. In conventional ZVT interlaved converter without semi-conductor devices in auxiliary circuit, the peak-to-peak value of coupled-inductor current has fixed value despite the change of load current. Then, as the load is reduced, the efficiency is reduced because of the conduction loss. The proposed frequency modulation method can reduce the conduction loss by controlling the current of coupled-inductor as the load condition using frequency modulation. The proposed method is verified by experimental results.
This paper presents a high-frequency ZVS-PWM boost chopper-fed DC-DC converter with a single active auxiliary edge resonant snubber in the load-side which can be designed for power conditioners such as solar photovoltaic generation, fuel cell generation, battery and super capacitor energy storages. Its principle operation in steady-state is described in addition to a prototype setup. The experimental results of ZVS-PWM boost chopper-fed DC-DC converter proposed here, are evaluated and verified with a practical design model in terms of its switching voltage and current waveforms, the switching v-i trajectory, the temperature performance of IGBT module, the actual power conversion efficiency and the EMI of radiated and conducted emissions. And then discussed and compared with the hard switching scheme from an experimental point of view. Finally, this paper proposes a practical method to suppress parasitic oscillation due to the active auxiliary resonant switch at ZCS turn off mode transition with the aid of an additional lossless clamping diode loop, and reduced the EMI conducted emission in this paper.
An interleaved PWM converter is proposed to implement the features of zero voltage switching (ZVS), load current sharing and ripple current reduction. The proposed converter includes two ZVS converters with a common clamp capacitor. With the shared capacitor, the charge balance of the two interleaved parts is automatically regulated under input voltage and load variations. The active-clamping circuit is used to realize the ZVS turn-on so that the switching losses on the power switches are reduced. The ZVS turn-on of all of the switching devices is achieved during the transition interval. The interleaved pulse-width modulation (PWM) operation will reduce the ripple current and the size of the input and output capacitors. The current double rectifier (CDR) is adopted in the secondary side to reduce output ripple current so that the sizes of the output chokes and capacitor are reduced. The circuit configuration, operation principles and design considerations are presented. Finally experimental results based on a 408W (24V/17A) prototype are provided to verify the effectiveness of the proposed converter.
In order to investigate the effect of irradiation by $^{60}Co-\gamma$rays as well as the e thermal treatment on the dielectric deterioration in ethylene propylene rubber, insulating material for electric cables used in atomic power plants, charging discharging current, residual built- up voltage and dielectric properties are measu discussed in this study. Variance in the characteristic of relative dielectric constant as a function of tem was observed in relatively high dose of irradiation. Since glass transition tem appeared at tens of degree Celsius below zero, the characteristic is attributed orientation polarization. Dielectric loss is generally increased, with increasing d irradiation in the characteristic of dielectric loss as a function of temperature, No d loss by thermal treatment was observed. Dielectric resistance decreases with increa of irradiation in the characteristic of charging current as a function of temperature be considered that dielectric resistance seems to be recovered by thermal treatm characteristic of discharging current as a function of time in the specimen less ir become similar to that of the unirradiated, when thermal treated. A peak is shown residual built- up voltage as a function of time, and the corresponding time of the shorten as increasing dose of irradiation. It is also observed that the corresponding the peak is lengthened by thermal treatment.
In this paper, design and control method ZVT Interleaved Bidirectional LDC(IB-LDC) for mild-hybrid electric vehicle is proposed. The IB-LDC is composed of interleaved buck and boost converters employing an auxiliary inductor and auxiliary capacitors to achieve zero-voltage-transition. Operating principle of IB-LDC according to operation mode is introduced and mathematically analyzed in buck and boost mode. Moreover, PFM and phase control are proposed to reduce circulating current for low power range. Passive components design such as main inductor, auxiliary inductor and capacitors is suggested, considering ZVT condition and maximizing efficiency. Furthermore, a 600W prototype of ZVT IB-LDC for MHEVs is built and tested to verify validity.

This paper proposes an isolated bidirectional three-phase push-pull dc-dc converter for high power application such as eco-friendly vehicles, renewable energy systems, energy storage systems, and solid-state transformers. The proposed converter achieves ZVS turn-on of all switches and volume of passive components is small by an effect of three-phase interleaving. The proposed converter has identical switching pattern for both boost and buck mode, and therefore can provide seamless characteristic at the mode transition. A 3kW prototype of the proposed converter has been built and tested to verify the validity of the proposed operation.
