Rudi Gernreich의 작품에 나타난 시대정신 (Designer's Interpretation of the Zeitgeist as shown in the Works of Rudi Gernreich)

  • Several scholars have discussed the relationship between fine art and fashion in meaning and expression. They have established that fashion and fine art are different branches from the same root, the Zeitgeist (time spirit), and that the Zeitgeist is materialized by various expres-sion techniques. The objective of this paper is to discuss how designers' interpretation of the Zeitgeist is expressed in their work, focusing on the 60's American society and designer Rudi Gernreich. The 60's were the period with revolutionary changes both in society itself and clothing. Rudi is the representative of the 60's designers who is called the most avant-garde and American household designer at the same time. Despite his prominent status as an avant-garde designer and social commentator, however, he has not been discussed in depth in the Korean clothing society. The consistent theme of his work was young and free spirit, and women's liberation which reflected the time he lived in. His successful interpretation of the Zeitgeist of the 60's made him establish the American-look, simple and free to move.

복식에 표현된 시대적 이상미 - 르네상스.바로크 시대를 중심으로 - (Ideal Beauty Represented in Dress - Focused on the Renaissance and Baroque Periods -)

  • Each stylistic period through history has its own unique look. The characteristic look of each period is completed and visualized with its prevailing ideologies, aesthetic consciousness and morality by means of 'form'. A period expresses its characteristics in accordance with form according to the widespread preferences of the time. Among the various cultural factors that form the look of the time, those that the period holds as ideal aesthetic values create the concept of 'ideal beauty' for that period. This study begins by establishing the conceptual definition of 'ideal beauty' and develops the premise that dress reflected ideal beauty. To attain the goal of the study, the selected objects are dresses represented in paintings, the actual garments from the Renaissance to Baroque periods and written references about art, art history, and history of costume. The results, based upon a theoretical study of the zeitgeist and aesthetic values of the 16th and 17th centuries, are as follows: first, ideal beauty influences the substance and form that constitute dress style. It is a byproduct of the spirit of time, the zeitgeist. The concept of ideal beauty is born within the lifestyle pursued by the ruling class and focuses on the body as an epitome of beauty, moral values, custom, lifestyle and taste as it becomes visualized via form. Second, the aspect of dress representing the ideal beauty of particular time varied according to the times. In both periods, power and dignity were used to achieve the ideal aesthetic values. In the Renaissance, power was expressed by the horizontal extension of dress (i.e. wide farthingales and sleeves) and in the Baroque period, by vertical extension (i.e. long and tall wigs, fontanges and trains). It can be said that fashion in both periods achieved an ideal, such as power and dignity, via the same means, by extending dress sizes, but the ways in which those ideals were portrayed in each period's dress yielded very contrary styles. It is understood through this study that ideal beauty influenced the dress style of the Renaissance and Baroque periods and played a decisive role in determining its forms and symbolic meanings.

수학 교수학적 어휘의 변화: 텍스트 마이닝 기법을 이용한 교실수업 어휘 연구의 확장 (Changes in mathematics pedagogical lexicons: Extension research of the International Classroom Lexicon using a text mining approach)

  • 어휘와 언어에 대한 연구는 이를 사용하는 개인들이 포함된 공동체의 관심과 가치, 실천 관행에 대한 이해도를 높일 수 있다. 이러한 맥락에서 10개국이 참여한 국제 교실수업 어휘 프로젝트(The International Classroom Lexicon Project)는 자국의 수학 교실 수업과 관련하여, 교사가 바라보고 명명하는 구어적 입장에서 수학 교실수업 어휘 연구를 진행하여 어휘를 확인하고 정리하였다. 본 연구는 이 국제 교실수업 어휘 프로젝트 연구의 확장으로, 전국수학교사모임에서 발행하는 수학교사 전문 잡지인 「수학과 교육」에 사용된 교수학적 어휘를 텍스트 마이닝 기법을 이용하여 조사하고, 통시적 관점에서 최근 10년간 시간의 흐름에 따라 이러한 교수학적 어휘가 양적으로 어떻게 변화하였는지를 관찰하였다. 연구 결과, 선행연구에서 발견되지 않은 새로운 교수학적 어휘를 발견할 수 있었다. 또한, 이러한 교수학적 어휘 중 시간의 흐름에 따라 출현 빈도가 유의하게 증가하는 어휘와 단기간에 갑자기 출현(급증)하는 어휘를 발견할 수 있었으며, 이를 통해 수학교사를 위한, 그리고 수학교사에 의한 전문 잡지를 중심으로 이루어진 문어적 공동체 수학교사의 관심의 변화를 살펴볼 수 있었고, 나아가 이러한 관심의 변화를 사회문화적·사건적·시대적 맥락에 비추어 봄으로써 이들의 가치와 시대적 정신의 변화를 조심스럽게 해석할 수 있었다. 이러한 점에서 본 연구는 지난 10년간 시대의 변화에 따른 한국의 수학교사 공동체에서의 수학교육에 대한 관심과 가치, 시대적 정신을 이해하는 첫 걸음으로서 가치를 지니고 있다. 또한, 텍스트 마이닝 기법이 이러한 시대변화에 따른 관심과 가치, 시대적 정신의 변화에 대한 연구를 수행할 수 있는 방법론적인 기여를 제공한다.

Empire Style 복식에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Empire Style Costume)

  • This paper analyzes Empire style costume based on the fashion theory of Lauer and Lauer. We classify fashion into tow categories, a personal identities, the social competition and sexual competition, he economic factor as a functional factor, and the reflective thing of zeitgeist, eroticism as a dynamic factor. These factors can be visualized from fashion design, textiles, ornaments expressed in the paintings.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the innovative and experimental housing design alternatives in the transition period to the modern era and to discuss about the motivation of modern architectural form. Thus, first, this study examined the planning concepts and the meaning of new design of the four Werkbund dwelling Exhibitions in eastern Europe reflecting the demands of modern times. Second, I analyzed how the formative experiment appeared as a stereoscopic mass design and as a architectural composition in exterior. Experimental trials at housing exhibitions were to respond to the demands for the new forms, which required a new approach to modern style and aesthetics. The major features of formative experiments can be summarized as follows. First, new housing design have escaped from the historically descended style. Secondly, through the operation of volume and surface modern dwelling created a formative conformation. Finally, the shape and the surface replaced the decoration. In conclusion, the works of modern architects can be said to have achieved the harmony between 'purpose of expression' and 'technical purpose' in realizing the 'Zeitgeist' that corresponds to the paradigm of modern housing.

1920년대와 1960년대의 패션에 나타난 유사성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Similarity of Fashion in the 1920′s and 1960′s)

  • This paper analyzes the similarity of fashion in the 1920's and 1960's. Fashion is a reflection of Zeitgeist. The similarity of fashion appeared in the similar social ideal period. The fashion of the 1920's and 1960's have a lot of similarity in many respects. Androgyny was the new word. The woman cut her hair short, wore short skirt, and projected a self-confidence that was considered by many to be too masculine. The new fashions also appeared very youthful. The cult of eternal youth was born. The mature woman was no longer requested. Instead, in the face of changing lifestyles and extremely rapid technological development, taste ran in favor of a young, athletic, and mobile ideal. The new fashions do-emphasized curvaceous shapes through short dresses and short hair-both styles were supposed to express youthfulness. Characteristic of the times was the short loose dress: straight silhouette disguised feminine curves. The new dresses were invented for very young, slim, and wide-eyed women. The common Zeitgeist of the 1920's and 1960's represents the cult of youth and the adoption of innovative style, which emphasized decoration-cleared simplicity, functionality, practicality, activity, androgyny. Innovative short skirt, youth fashion, androgynous style, unisex style, tubular silhouette, short hair style, and eyeline-emphasized makeup were analyzed by the similarity of fashion in the 1920's and 1960's.

유럽의 주택전시회를 통해 본 주거건축 계획의 시대적 쟁점 - 1920-30년대 공작연맹주최 주택전시회에서 제시된 새로운 평면개념을 중심으로 - (A View of Contemporary Issues of Housing Architecture in the European Housing Exhibition -Focused on the Floorplan Concepts of Werkbund Housing in the 20's-30's-)

  • The Werkbund housing exhibitions in Europe in the 20's and 30's presented various planning concepts and played a important roll for modernization of housing Architecture. This study, therefore, aims to understand the contemporary issues of housing in this period, which showed the meaningful momentum for housing plans today. In order to grasp the general characteristics of exhibition housing the representative cases -Weissenhofsiedlung, Dammerstock, Breslausiedlung, Werkbund Siedlung in $Z\"{u}rich-Neub\"{u}hl$, Werkbundsiedlung Wien und BaBa- were throught documents analyzed. The architects offered an innovative building typology such as row housing and new prototype of housing units accordingly social needs. Especially, In this study housing unitplans were in 6 groups such as flexible type, cabin type, free open plan, Raumplan, functional 2-story type and corridor type categorized. And they were analyzed how deeply technological development, architectural design perceptions as well as functional aspects had on the planning of floorplans reflected. As a result, in the housing exhibitions various architectural ideas presented the "Zeitgeist" not only such as improvement of physical environment of housing, but also such as rationalization, standardization, functionalization, normalization of housing architecture. Also their unitplans corresponded to newly developed building typology and modern household type. As well as they represented notable spatial concepts. Moreover it contributed to create a new paradigm of housing for the new epoch.

시대정신을 위한 교육 담론으로서 비판교육학의 가능성 탐구 (Inquiring the Possibility of Critical Pedagogy as Discourse for 'Zeitgeist')

  • 한국 사회는 2017년 체제를 맞이하고 있다. 시대정신은 이제 민주주의, 인권, 평화를 중심으로 하는 행복추구권이 인정되는 사회로 그리고 4차 산업혁명 시대로 나아가길 희망하고 있다. 교육 영역에서 패러다임의 이동이 이러한 사회 정치적 체제의 시작 이전부터 시작되었다. 진보 성향의 교육감이 중심이 된 교육 자치는 시민 교육 운동의 일환인 대안 교육이 공교육에 학교 혁신 등을 통한 유입이 가속되고 있다. 진보 진영 뿐 아니라 '이명박근혜' 정부에서도 조금씩 이를 받아들인 자유학기제 등과 같은 교육 정책을 강조했다는 것을 보면 알 수 있다. 급변하는 사회에 적합한 교육을 위해서는 현 공교육을 대안 할 수 있는 교육적 거대 담론에 대한 고민이 필요하다. 본 논의 교육의 전환의 시대라고 할 수 있는 현시점에서 시대정신에 타당한 방향을 제안하기 위한 연구목적으로 갖고 진행되었다. 이를 위한 연구문제는 두 가지로 요약할 수 있다. 1) 어떤 이론적 담론이 시대정신을 포함할 가능성을 가지고 있는지? 2) 제안하고 있는 이론적 담론에 기초한 실천적 방향으로 어떤 담론이 있는지? 이에 대한 답변을 위해 관련 문헌들을 해석적으로 분석하여 활용하였다. 본 논의는 시대정신을 반영할 수 있는 것으로 비판교육학과 브리콜라주라는 실천 또는 실행을 강조하는 비판적 의식과 창의성을 생산할 수 있는 담론을 소개하고 그의 실천적 방향을 함께 제시하였다.

  • Even though advocates of TQM emphasize the role of TQM more than before, the interest of general public have decreased in recent years. A few months ago, the Fortune introduced a survey result showing that management tools (including TQM) are to some extent fashion items, becoming chic or declasse with the march of the management zeitgeist. According to the article, TQM has cooled off and other approaches have risen to take the place. Is TQM a really dying fad? This paper discusses the problem.

새로운 패러다임으로서의 플로팅 건축에 대한 연구 (A Study on the Floating Building as a New Paradigm of Architecture)

  • According to climate change, deficiency of usable land, large water portion of the Earth surface, and improvement of income level, floating architecture is emerging as a strong & attractive alternative. The aim of this study is to suggest some related applying ways for new building projects around waterside. New paradigm of architecture can be described as a new model and/or system of architecture with new concept and Zeitgeist like sustainability and green building. Floating building is already a new paradigm of architecture comparing with the preconception of building only on the land and current building regulations. New paradigm features from the sample projects can be summarized as new concepts of building, application of various renewable energy resources(water, solar, wind), modular construction, use of local raw material, dual purpose usage, long term and relocatable usage, and special building materials for green building.
