To confirm whether the square tank at Changwon National University (CWNU) can be used for estimation of maneuverability, planar motion mechanism (PMM) test and circular motion (CM) test were performed for various conditions. PMM test can be implemented using an XY carriage and a yaw table in the square tank. However, sometimes test section is insufficient for PMM test owing to low length-breadth ratio of the tank. In addition, the speed of a towing carriage is also quite limited. Therefore, it would be useful if PMM test could be effectively performed diagonally, by establishing coupled control logic to drive three servomotors. In addition, Froude number dependency on the estimated hydrodynamic coefficients was checked. Furthermore, CM tests, which cannot be completed in a conventional linear towing tank, were performed, and its results were compared with the results of PMM test. The results of the PMM tests in the diagonal direction were consistent with the results of the test performed in the direction parallel to the sidewall. However, the results of the CM test were greater than those of the PMM test. This tendency was also observed in the results published at Ulsan University.
This paper presents a new control algorithm for dynamic control of a unicycle robot. The unicycle robot motion consists of a pitch that is controlled by an in-wheel motor and a roll that is controlled by a reaction wheel pendulum. The unicycle robot doesn't have any actuator for a yaw axis control, which makes the derivation of the dynamics relatively simple. The Euler-Lagrange equation is applied to derive the dynamic equations of the unicycle robot to implement the dynamic speed control of the unicycle robot. To achieve the real time speed control of the unicycle robot, the sliding mode control and LQ regulator are utilized to guarantee the stability while maintaining the desired speed tracking performance. In the roll controller, the sigmoid-function based sliding mode controller has been adopted to minimize the chattering by the switching function. The LQR controller has been implemented for the pitch control to drive the unicycle robot to follow the desired velocity trajectory in real time using the state variables of pitch angle, angular velocity, angle and angular velocity of the wheel. The control performance of the two control systems form a single dynamic model has been demonstrated by the real experiments.
For the development of wind turbine, generally simulator is used. Simulator include wind turbine components. e.g blades, pitch and pitching method, rotor, yaw system, tower, drive train and so on. Few the more, it include a external circumstance. e.g wind speed, wind direction, air density. these basic parameters be used for the control of wind turbine by wind turbine controller in wind turbine simulator. The wind turbine controller can be designed in the wind turbine simulator. But a developer must make the real control system that will be made using PLC or PC or other processor. The developer must verify the function of control system. that is control algorithm , I/O function, communication, sequence and so on. This verification is possible if we substitute the real wind turbine control system for wind turbine controller in the simulator.
The Electronic Stability Program (ESP), a system that improves vehicle safety, also known as YMC (Yaw Motion Controller) or VDC (Vehicle Dynamics Control), is a system that operates in unstable or sudden driving and braking situations. Developing conditions such as unstable or sudden driving and braking situations in a vehicle are very dangerous unless you are an experienced professional driver. Additionally, many repetitive tests are required to collect reliable data, and there are many variables to consider such as changes in the weather, road surface, and tire condition. To overcome this problem, in this paper, hardware and control software such as the ESP controller, vehicle engine, ABS, and TCS module, composed of three control zones, are modeled using MATLAB/SIMULINK, and the vehicle, climate, and road surface. Various environmental variables such as the driving course were modeled and studied for the real-time ESP real-time simulator that can be repeatedly tested under the same conditions.
This work deals with dynamic analysis of a monorail system with magnetic caterpillar where magnets are embedded inside each articulated element of the caterpillar, augmenting traction force of main rubber wheels to climb up slope up to 15 degree grade. Considerations are first given to determine stiffness of the primary and secondary suspension springs in order for the natural frequencies of car body and bogie associated with vertical, pitch, roll and yaw motion to be within generally accepted range of 1-2 Hz. Equations for calculating magnetic force needed to climb up given slope are derived, and a magnetic caterpillar system for 1/6 scale monorail is designed based on the derivation. To assess the hill climbing ability and cornering stability, and make sure smooth operation of the side and vertical guiding wheels which is critical for safety, a multibody model that takes into account of every component level design characteristics of car, bogie, and caterpillar is set up. Through hill climbing simulation and comparison with measurement of the limit slope, the validity of the analysis and design of the magnetic caterpillar system are demonstrated. Also by studying the curving behavior, maximum curving speed without rollover, functioning of lateral motion constraint system, the effects of geometry of guiding rails are studied.
This paper presents a new approach to control of stable motion of single wheel driving robot system of a pitch that is controlled by an in-wheel motor and a roll that is controlled by a reaction wheel. This robot doesn'thave any actuator for a yaw axis control, which makes the derivation of the dynamics relatively simple. The Lagrange equations was applied to derive the dynamic equations of the one wheel driving robot to implement the dynamic speed control of the mobile robot. To achieve the real time speed control of the unicycle robot, the sliding mode control and optical regulator are utilized to prove the reliability while maintaining the desired speed tracking performance. In the roll controller, the sigmoid-function based robust controller has been adopted to reduce the vibration by the situation function. The optimal controller has been implemented for the pitch control to drive the unicycle robot to follow the desired velocity trajectory in real time using the state variables of pitch angle, angular velocity, angle and angular velocity of the driving wheel. The control performance of the control systems from a single dynamic model has been illustrated by the real experiments.
This paper presents an optimum tire force distribution method for 6WD/6WS(6-Wheel-Drive and 6-Wheel-Steering) electric vehicles. Using an independent steering and driving system, the performance of 6WD/6WS vehicles can be improved, as, for example, with respect to their maneuverability under low speed and their stability at high speed. Therefore, there should be a control strategy for finding the optimum tire forces that satisfy the driver's command and minimize energy consumption. From the driver's commands (steering angle and accelerator/brake pedal stroke), the desired yaw moment, the desired lateral force, and the desired longitudinal force were obtained. These three values were distributed to each wheel as the torque and the steering angle, based on the optimum tire force distribution method. The optimum tire force distribution method finds the longitudinal/lateral tire forces of each wheel that minimize the cost function, which is the sum of the normalized tire forces. Next, the longitudinal/lateral tire forces of each wheel are converted into the reference torque inputs and the steering wheel angle inputs. The proposed method was tested through a simulation, and its effectiveness was verified.
This paper describes the design and characteristic analysis of a novel 3-DOF(Degree of Freedom) spherical motor. For multi DOF actuating, several numbers of motors have been used. By the using of normal motors they connected each other in single joint, is necessary to a several type of complex power transmission devices. The 3-DOF spherical motor can drive roll, pitch, and yaw motion in only one unit and it is not necessary to use additional gears and links parts. Therefore the using of 3-DOF spherical motor can eliminate; combined effects of inertia, backlash, non-linear friction, and elastic deformation of gears. In this paper, we propose the novel structured 3-DOF spherical motor and derive its principles of operation. Firstly, we designed concept model of novel structured 3-DOF spherical motor. Next, we derive the control method by calculating the currents. Also, to have intuitive driving control, we express the rotor position in equivalent angle-axis system and determine the exciting period of currents from the calculation result of the currents. To verify the control method, we calculated the currents by the position of rotor. and then we analyzed the characteristics by 3D Finite Element Method when the calculated currents are excited.
The numerical analysis of the automatic ship mooring system which was equipped in the ship for trying to berth at the pier was performed in this study. The automatic ship mooring using hydraulic winch was a new method that had not need to change the existing devices and to help a pilot ship of outside. The numerical results of the proposed mooring system including ship motion were that the speed and rolling phenomenon of ship was affected by changing in the ship weight and affected the slope maintenance and yaw degree of ship if there has a trim of stern. Also, a static force of ship at the initial movement was important to calculate the mooring power. The moving force and inertial force of ship on the vertical direction was confirmed for the mooring stability. Therefore, the power and velocity of hydraulic mooring winch should be determined by considering the significant characteristics such as weight, velocity, inertial force and moving force of ship.
This study presented a model predictive tracking control algorithm of autonomous truck based on object state estimation using extended Kalman filter. To design the model, the 1-layer laser scanner was used to estimate position and velocity of the object using extended Kalman filter. Based on these estimations, the desired linear path for object tracking was computed. The lateral and yaw angle errors were computed using the computed linear path and relative positions of the truck. The computed errors were used in the model predictive control algorithm to compute the optimal steering angle for object tracking. The performance evaluation was conducted on Matlab/Simulink environments using planar truck model and actual point data obtained from laser scanner. The evaluation results showed that the tracking control algorithm developed in this study can track the object reasonably based on the model predictive control algorithm based on the estimated states.
