Design of the Main Nozzle with Different Acceleration Tube and Diameter in an Air-Jet Loom

  • The air-jet loom represents a major step in the development of shutterless weaving due to its ability to weave a wide range of yarns at high speeds. The air-jet weaving involves inserting a pre-measured length of yarn through the wraps, which is shed by means of compressed air. The analysis of air flow characteristic of the main nozzle and acceleration tube is required for improving the loom performance. In this paper, we examined the effects of the main nozzle with different acceleration tubes as well as diameters. Also, we compared the performance of a straight-type tube with a Laval-type tube and the effect of installing a suction hole on the acceleration tube.

  • Various fabrics, including natural fibers, regenerated cellulosic fibers, synthetic fibers, blend yarn, and mixture fabrics, were treated with the solutions of high purity chitosan in 1% acetic acid, having high viscosity of 930cps or low viscosity of 8cps. Physical/ mechanical properties of the treated fabrics samples were measured using Kawabata Evaluation System and drape tester. From these, hand values and total hand values of the fabric samples were calculated using Kawabata-Niwa translation equations. KOSHI, SHARI, HARI values have increased for the treated samples, while FUKURAMI values have decreased in general.

  • Research and development of the spinning system which become bigger, faster and more detailed has been making progress continuously due to the increasing use of yarn which is considered as raw material to make industrial goods such as tire cord, air bag, filter, seatbelt and fiber-optic cable along with a remarkable growth of industry. In this paper, the desirable procedure and design requirements concerning a method of vibration reduction for "Godet Roller" considered as the main source of high vibration in the spinning system were suggested, and then verified those by analysis and actual test.

  • In this study a computer-aided textile pattern design system is implemented and a control methodology of a dobby motion is studied. The described system allows the user to design various weave patterns through graphic editor and to simulate weaving by displaying the dummy weaving process on the monitor. In addition, if the yarn colors are specified it is also possible to analyze color weaves. Thus it can replace effectively a conventional. design tool, a design paper. The main features of the system are to design weave patterns, to show weaving effect, and to make lifting plan for the dobby motion control. In dobby motion control, the mechanical. control method conventionally used is not adequate for the loom which is linked with the computer-aided textile pattern design system, so an electromagnetic control method is proposed.

Analysis of the Dimensionless Torque in Cone Drum False Twisting Mechanism

  • An investigation of the dimensionless torque in the newly developed cone drum twister texturing mechanism is reported. The cone drum twister is one of the outer surface contacting friction-twisting devices in false-twist texturing. In this cone drum twister, a filament yam passes over the surface of the cone drum that rotates by the passing yarn without a special driving device. This research is composed of the theoretical analysis of the false twisting mechanism and the experimental analysis at room temperature. The equations have been derived which shows interrelationship of the conical angle of cone drum, the wrapping angle, the drag angle, and the yam helix angle. Theoretical values of dimensionless torque were calculated and were compared with the experimental results. It is shown that, as the conical angle and the projected wrapping angle increased, the dimensionless torque also increased. But the conical angle was reached to ${30.75}^{\circ}C$, the dimensionless torque decreased.

  • The cross-section of the polyester filament yarn has been modified to have a variety of shape for aesthetic, added functions and sensitivities, and other purposes. Transparent polyester filament of trilobal cross-section has unique optical properties with high anisotropic reflectivity and transmissivity. The monofilament yarns may be utilized to impart to the fabrics lustrous appearance along with unique color change in case differently dyed yarns are woven together. The color changes of the fabric specimens according to the changes in observation and lighting conditions were analyzed using a CCD camera and an image analysis software. The changes of color/luster of the fabric specimens were measured and analyzed based on RGB, $L^*a^*b^*,\;L^*C^*h,$ and the color distribution within a three-dimensional color space.

  • This study surveys the warp and weft tension differences among 3 types of rapier looms and analyses the mechanical properties of worsted fabrics for garment with relation of these looms characteristics using KES-FB system. Raper is divided by two parts. In the 1st paper, the worsted fabric is woven as 5 harness satin weave using 1/40 Nm sirofil worsted warp yam and 1/30 Nm worsted weft yam by rapier looms such as FAST-R, THEMA-11-E and PICANOL-GTX respectively. The weavability is also analysed by measuring warp tension variation according to the warp position and weft tension of 3 kinds of looms. The relationship between shed amount and the warp tension is surveyed, and the relationship between end breaks and warp and weft tensions is also discussed.

  • This research surveys the twisting and untwisting tensions according to the various processing conditions of belt type texturing such as draw ratio, 1st heater temperature and velocity ratio. The 1st heater temperature was changed from 1606{\circ}C\; to\; 220^{\circ}C$, draw ratio was changed from 1.6 to 1.9 and velocity ratio was changed from 1.4 to 1.8. The twisting and untwisting tensions are measured with the variation of these processing conditions, in addition, the untwisting tension(T2) and tension ratio(T2/Tl) according to the various processing conditions are analysed with the false twist mechanism which is affected to the physical properties of draw textured yams.

  • This research surveys the threadline instability on the belt texturing machine according to the 1st heater temperature, draw ratio and velocity ratio. the threadline instability to the time, which is called surging phenomena, is analysed with variations of draw ratio and velocity ratio. In addiction, the surging phenomena is investigated with the variation of the untwisting tension and false twist mechanism on the belt texturing machine. The breaking strain, modulus and yam unevenness of the DTY along the yarn length are measured and analysed with the surging phenomena which is due to untwisting tension variation on the threadline according to the draw ratio, 1st heater temperature and velocity ratio.

  • 최근 고감성 PET 사를 이용하여 생산한 PET 직물은 고감성 의류용 직물로서 많이 사용되고 있다. 이러한 고감성 의류용 PET 직물은 다양한 공정을 거치면서 장력이나 열 등의 영향을 받으므로서 사의 물성의 변화를 초래하여 감성 의류용도의 PET 직물에 많은 결점을 유발 시키므로서 직물 생산 시 공정조건 설정 등의 어려움에 직면하고 있다. 이러한 고감성 의류에 치명적인 문제를 유발하는 문제점에 관한 감성사 제조 시의 공정조건 변화와 관련된 연구 논문은 많이 발표가 되지 못하고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 국내 7개 원사 Maker의 Denier 별 PET 사의 물성을 균일한 길이의 Layer를 설정하여 분석, 조사하고 Layer 별 물성 차이와 습ㆍ건열 열처리 온도에 따른 사의 수축률 등을 비교하므로서 감성 의류용 직물 생산에 필요한 기초 물성 Data를 제공하고 PET 사의 품질향상을 도모하므로서 최종 감성 의류용 직물 소재 개발에 기여할 수 있는 기초자료를 제공하고자 한다.
