  • By personally visiting a location, we have a much more complete and accurate feel and understanding of the interior design, then we can receive from pictures or descriptions. Because of this, in researching the history of interior design, it is impossible to experience the space in the design by not viewing it in persov. Instead, we must experience it indrectly through the use of descriptive language. Therefore it is important to deliver our meaning of the space in the interior design through clear and specific modern language rather than using classic language, which could be more confusing. In this study, the 7 most basic items of invariability among Bruno Zevi's modern language has been applied to describe the space in Wright's historical Prairie House. Thereupon, Wright's interior design concept and essential point is grasped through the analyzing of his space with modern language. Bruno Zevi's 7 items of invariability are suggested as an alternative which can deliver a clear and scientific meaning of interior desigv.

  • This study aims at exploring the characteristics of the Usonian houses of Frank Lloyd Wright from an ecological viewpoint. After considering the definition and application of ecological architecture through literature review, 28 Usonian houses were selected and analyzed for the study. Also, nine Usonian houses, which clearly have ecological and historical importance, were visited and more thoroughly analyzed. The result shows that Usonian houses are ecological in terms of 1) the relationship among nature, landscape and house, 2) the orientation, natural light and natural ventilation, 3) the use of natural local materials including wood, stones and bricks, 4) the use of floor heating (the On-dol system inKorea), 5) the human scale, 6) the use of the board and batten unit (an early system of prefabrication), and 7) the openness and flexibility of floor plans.

  • This paper proposes a stabilizing method against landslide using slide suppressor wall reinforced with soil nails. Included are a procedure to predict earth pressures acting on the concrete panel and a method of analysis of stabilizing pile. Based on the proposed procedure, the efficient installation type and inclusion angle of nails are analyzed. Also, optimum location of the slide suppressor wall composed of concrete panel and stabilizing pile is analyzed. Finally the comparison with a method proposed by Wright is made, and the effect of interactions between stabilizing piles is examined, throughout the design example.

  • After the industrial revolution, interior of living space have shifted from the spacial structure of existing wall partitions to visually and spacially continuous open space. And these open space can be recognized mostly in the common space of housing architecture of living, dining, and kitchen space composition. In order to understand the characteristics of space and compositional method, the works of Le Corbusier, W. Grupius, and F.L. Wright in their living, dining, and kitchen space design have been analized from the collected materials to make evaluation for the similarities and significance of their space compositional factors. therefore, this study is to analize space composition and design factor of the modern housing space of Living, Dining, and kitchen space variation and character of open space design factor for the practical use as an index of designing contemporary living space.

  • In this paper, we present a finite difference method for the implementation of the rotation of a circular cylinder in the incompressible flow field by solving the two-dimensional unsteady Navier-Stokes equations. The approach is to use staggered grid method so that the accuracy and order of convergence of the associated algorithms can be maintained. The proposed method is easy to be implemented and is effective. A set of simulations for the flow dynamics is provided to show the computational results.

  • In the present paper, we define new class of functions Tα,β(λ; z) which is an extension of the classical Wright function and the Mittag-Leffler function. We show some mean value inequalities for the this function, such as Turán-type inequalities, Lazarević-type inequalities and Wilker-type inequalities. Moreover, integrals formula and integral inequality for the function Tα,β(λ; z) are presented.

  • Clarke-Wright algorithm is a well-known heuristic algorithm for the vehicle routing problem, that is, the problem to find routes through which vehicles deliver goods to retailers. The purpose of this paper is to extend the Clarke-Wright algorithm to the vehicle routing problem with the following restrictions: ${\cdot}$ capacities of vehicles may not be the same ${\cdot}$ vehicles should pick up empty boxes on the way back ${\cdot}$ there is a deadline before delivery should be completed for every retailer ${\cdot}$ only certain kinds of vehicles may enter the unloading sites of retailers. This paper modifies the Clarke-Wright algorithm for this problem and shows how to solve a real problem by the newly developed algorithm.

  • In his paper "The Existence of Mathematical Objects and Contingency" Professor Choi deals with the debate between Hartry Field and Hale/Wright. In this famous debate, Hale/Wright and Field argue back and forth about whether some explanations for the contingency of mathematical objects need to be provided or not. In this paper, I raise 3 objections to Professor Choi's critical analysis of this debate.

  • The purpose of this study is to find Healing elements in the late work of Frank Lloyd Wright. Healing elements are mainly composed of physical, social and psychological functions, which are clearly reflected in holistic attitude and intuition in his Organic theory of Architecture. Late works of Wright since 1935 show particularly shapes of triangle and circle creating the emotional images associated with Hope and Infinity. His image-oriented design attitude is thought to be strongly related to the pursuit of Utopian ideal which means peaceful condition. He regarded it as the consequence of integrity and control, which could be thought as condition of Healing environment. Refuge and Prospect can be complementary elements of spatial expression representing peaceful and dynamic condition of the Nature itself. Five works selected in this case study have unique design ideas related to the function and image of Healing environment interpreted by the criteria of Refuge and Prospect.

  • The veritable pursuit of this exegesis is to exhibit integrals affined with the Bessel-Struve kernel function, which are explicitly inscribed in terms of generalized (Wright) hypergeometric function and also the product of generalized (Wright) hypergeometric function with sum of two confluent hypergeometric functions. Somewhat integrals involving exponential functions, modified Bessel functions and Struve functions of order zero and one are also obtained as special cases of our chief results.
