엑스포 캐릭터의 현황과 활성화 방안 (A Study on the Present Status and Promotion of Expo Character)

  • 엑스포는 올림픽, 월드컵과 함께 개최장소가 한곳에 지정되어 경제, 기술, 문화 등 다양한 내용의 집중투자가 가능하기 때문에 나라별, 지역별로 경쟁적으로 개최하기 시작하면서 개최국의 권위와 업적을 과시하는 세계 3대 이벤트 중 하나로 자리 잡게 되었다. 우리나라도 1993년 대전 엑스포를 기점으로 지자체에서 지역경제 활성화와 지역 이미지 제고를 위해 엑스포를 적극적으로 개최하기 시작하였다. 그러나 지역 주민과 개최 지방 정부의 엑스포 디자인에 대한 인식 부족으로 고유의 정체성을 가지고 전문적인 디자인 시스템을 가진 엑스포를 찾기 어려운 것이 사실이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 엑스포의 중요한 아이덴티티이자 커뮤니케이션의 핵심 도구인 캐릭터 개발의 중요성과 그 도입 현황 및 소재 분석, 그리고 엑스포 캐릭터의 개발 제안 및 활성화 방안을 제안하고자 한다.

The Symbolism Embodied in the Expo Emblem-Based on Victor Turner's Symbolic Theory

  • This study aims to examine the symbolism of the emblems of World Expositions by using Victor Turner's symbolic theory as a research method, and to reveal the symbolic types behind them by classifying the emblem designs of different periods and themes. The research object is 12 comprehensive World's Fair emblems from the 1939 New York World's Fair in the United States to the 2025 Osaka World's Fair in Japan, as identified by Bureau International des Expositions. The research method mainly adopts documentary research to collect historical information and theoretical frameworks related to the design of World's Fair emblems. In the analysis process, Victor Turner's symbolic sign theory is used as the main analytical framework to link the design elements of emblems to their relevance to specific societies and cultures in order to reveal the themes, values and ideas represented by the emblem symbolism. The results of the study show that the design of the Expo emblem uses different symbols, including material symbols, behavioral symbols, sensory symbols, natural symbols, social symbols and virtual symbols, to convey the core concepts, themes and values of the Expo. Through different types of symbols, the Expo emblem shows a wide range of concerns about technology and the future, mankind and the world, nature and ecology, and society and innovation. The symbolic design of the emblem plays an important role in conveying the core concept and theme of the Expo.

  • The World exposition is considered as a great event to promote the cultural exchanges of their own urbanism and share the technological developments among the various countries across the all over the world. So many countries in the world desired to host and take part in the EXPO, so far only few countries have had the chance to hold the event and show their uniqueness of urban culture, but we might say the past exhibition as those for display and publication of matters of science, technology and trade, now we must say expositions of the 21th century has come under variations on cultural and informational interchange and humanism from the global issue and problem. What makes possible to maximize the effort of reciprocal communication between people and the public can be the EXPO event as a means of the public information of the theme and this kind of event should suggest the public a message of the topic, message, image and even more the EXPO spirits and theme as an international event gives as much considerably spreading effect as its big scale. In that aspect, the pavilion for the exhibition of EXPO and public information should be recognized as a place for smoothly forming the activities of reciprocal communication between the society and the public, with such a aspect this study, as its purpose of improving as well as communication, concerns the process in projecting the space paradigm of pavilion in the EXPO and public message and information as a means of the communication of the global theme.

세계박람회 유치를 위한 여수시 국제화전략 (Yeosu Internationalization Strategy for Holding 2012 World EXPO)

  • We, in this paper, suggest the Yeosu internationalization strategy for holding the 2012 World EXPO in Yeosu successfully, First of all, we analyze some problems that hinder the internationalization of Yeosu. Our analysis, also, provides several strategic solutions to those problems by foreign direct investment, international trade, hub port development, and international tourism. first strategy is to create a more favorable business environment for foreign investors. Foreign direct investment is the most effective way to internationalize the specific district. Second strategy is to expand the export of small and medium-sized firms in Yeosu. Especially, local firms with agricultural/fishery products have to develop various new products and introduce the effective international marketing strategy. Final strategy is to develop the hub port in Yeosu and the new tourist resources to attract foreign tourists.

  • Below are the indications that cultural events in traditional Korean medicine nationwide give to the prospective 2013 DongUiBoGam World traditional Alternative Medicine Expo, especially to the se lection of the Expo's site. If the DongUiBoGam Expo is held as outdoor event, it can secure merits of current local council events' advantages: linking lived experiences to natural and historical resources. As in case of the EXOM and Hanghang EXPO that are held as indoor activivies in metropolitan area, if held the DongUiBoGam Expo can secure easily large-scale academic activities and health lectures. Thus, the key point for the DongUiBoGam Expo's success will he how to combine the good points of currently-held cultural outdoor and indoor activities in the field of traditional Korean medicine nationwide.

  • 컨벤션 유형의 하나인 엑스포(Expo)는 일반대중의 계몽을 그 주된 목적으로 하는 전시회를 말한다. 신선하고 건강미 넘치는 웰빙식품의 전시물들을 전시하기는 하지만, 그 직접적인 목적은 제품의 구매자를 찾는 것이 아니라 제품의 가치, 유용성, 독창성을 제시하는 데 있다. 따라서 세계인들이 만나는 엑스포는 그 시대에 살아있는 다양한 모습 또는 미래의 모습을 관람객에게 체험적으로 교육 시키는 장이라고 할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 엑스포의 기획, 홍보에 있어서 체계적이고 합리적인 방안을 제시하기 위해서 엑스포의 개최지 속성 요인을 파악하고 관람 후 도시이미지 형성과 관련성을 알아보고자 한다. 이를 위해서 개최지 속성과 관람 만족 후 구전활동, 도시이미지 형성과의 관련성을 밝힘으로써 엑스포 관람자들의 세부적인 만족관계를 밝힘으로써 효율적인 엑스포 관람자 관리방안을 제시하고자 한다. 본 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위하여, 선행연구를 통하여 도출된 측정도구를 바탕으로 '2009천안 웰빙(Well-Being)식품 엑스포' 관람한 방문자 중심으로 각각의 요인들과의 관계성을 밝히고자 한다. 이를 바탕으로 실증분석을 통하여 산출된 결과를 바탕으로 향후 '2009천안 웰빙(Well-Being)식품 엑스포' 관람자 선택 영향요인의 대안요소를 밝히고, 지속적인 관람자 관리 방안을 제시함으로써 '2009천안 웰빙(Well-Being)식품 엑스포'의 질적인 향상을 기대하고 엑스포 관람자 만족도를 높게 할 수 있는 방안을 제시하고자 한다.

주제공원의 동선 개선 제안 - 여수 엑스포 해양공원을 대상으로 - (The Improvement of Circulation System in Theme Park - Focused on the EXPO Ocean Park in Yeosu -)

  • The EXPO Ocean Park in Yeosu has taken on the apsect of a theme park and has specialized facilities. But the outdoor circulation system that has been used by Expo 2012 Yeosu Korea still remained. These conditions can occur unused circulation and a long walk between facilities. The Purpose of this study is to suggest the improvement of circulation system that uses walking and outdoor space at the Expo Ocean Park in Yeosu. The following researches are drawn based upon the purpose. First, Definition and existing academic literature of theme park is considered. Second, the type, utilization condition, and circulation of outdoor facilities of Expo Ocean Park are investigated through the field survey and analysis. The field survey is conducted on the Expo Ocean Park in Yeosu for five times from October. 2013 to March. 2014. The data is collected through the photographed outdoor park and interviewing the staff of 2012 Yeosu World Expo Foundation. Third, the case study on outdoor circulation of waterside park and park with amusement facilities that are similar to Expo Ocean Park are examined. The result of this study is expected to seek sustainable management of Expo Ocean Park for maximizing local resident and visitors' satisfaction and improving effective park image. Since the field survey was conducted before the park is reopened and The Expo Ocean Park is on the improve through the this study at present, the verification of improvement scheme based on Post-Occupancy Evaluation(POE) is needed for future study.

  • 2007년 그림 및 액자제품 전시회(Deco-Expo Atlanta)가 지난 9월 7일부터 9일까지 3일간 미국 애틀란타(Atlanta)주의 조지아 월드 콩그레스 센터(Georgia World Congress Center)에서 세계 각국의 액자관련 업체(몰딩, 프레임제품, 자재 및 기기 등)및 관계자들 10,000여 명이 참가한 가운데 열렸다. 올해도 국내 업체들을 이끌고 전시회에 참석했던 한국프레임공업협동조합의 진영존 전무에게서 전시회 관련 이야기를 들어 본다.
