This paper investigated Taxi drivers physical subjective symptoms and what factors were interviewed caused the symptoms. The 600 owning taxi-drivers in Seoul during four months from August 1st, 2003 to November 30th, 2003. 1. The average age of the owning taxi-drivers was generally quite high 54 years old. It was very high index compared with the Todai Health Index(THI) and Cornell Medical Index(CMI) of health check tables. 2. According to the age in THI health check table, the complains of mental subjective symptom by reason of age was high among 31 to 40 years old. People who belonged that age group showed high fabrication(L), digestion(C) and aggressiveness(F). The results showed the complains of mental subjective symptom. All items except tiredness(I), melancholia(N), and hypersensitivity(P) were commonly reported by people in their sixties. On the other hand, melancholia(N) and hypersensitivity(P), people in their forties were investigated highly. Statistically, the items of heartㆍblood stream(C) and digestion(D) systems were similar between the two ages, but anger(Q) was different. (p<0.05) 3. From the complains of mental and physical subjective symptoms about work satisfaction on the THI health check table, all items except eyeㆍskin trouble(B) showed strong dissatisfaction. From the complains of mental and physical subjective symptoms about work satisfaction on the CMI health check table, the items of respiratory system(B), digestion(D), nervous system(G), miscellaneous(K), inadequancy(M), and anger(Q) showed similar results. Otherwise, heartㆍblood stream(C) showed statistically different. 4. From the complains of mental and physical subjective symptoms on salary satisfaction in the THI health check table, in the case of people receiving around 1 million won, the complains of physical symptoms showed high among all items except for the respiratory(A) and digestion(C) systems. The eyeㆍskin trouble(B) item showed statistical similarity. The complains of mental and physical subjective symptoms according to a salary degree on the CMI health check table was completely different from the above results. In people received around 1~1.5million won, all items except anxiety(O) showed high. The hypersensitivity(P) item showed statistically different.
The author has conducted survey on the socio-medical status of the 157 entertainers (male:25, female:132) in Jeonju area, during 1 to 15 July 1974. Most of the entertainers had no their parents, father or mother while the ones who had parents were 21.0 per cent. 4. The average age of menerache of the female entertainers was $14.2{\pm}0.87$ years. 5. Regarding the marital status of the entertainers, the unmarried were 81.5 per cent and present status of marriage, 79.3 per cent were seperated. 6. The average of the first marriage was 24.4 years in male, and 22.6 years in female. 7. Regarding the working duration of the entertainers, 79.1 per cent worked less than 1 year. 8. Regarding the sex experiences before marriage, 76.0 per cent of the male and 91.7 per cent of the female reported had such experiences. 9. Induced abortions were found to have been experienced 88.6 per cent of the female entertainers. 10. Point prevalence rate for gonorrhea including non-specific urethritis of the entertainers were found 16.0 per cent of the male and 17.4 per cent of the female.
The purpose of this study is to provide the basic data for developing a social policy program and group counseling program that will help matriarchs adapt successfully by investigating the level of depression and perceived health status in them. The data was collected from the period February to July, 2000 which included 155 matriarchs who registered at the 'YWCA', 'Working Women Center' located in Busan. The matriarche's depression was measured through a questionnaire composed of 13 selected items which correspond to depression of SCL-90-R scale and the tool for perceived health status measured by Ware(1976) translated by Yoo Ji Soo, Kim Jo Ja and Park Ji Won (1985). The data was then analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA and pearson correlation coefficient. The result of which are, as follow: 1. The mean score of depression was 30.8 (SD=${\pm}5.1$) from a range of 13 to 52, and perceived health states was 28.3 (SD=${\pm}4.4$) from a range of 11 to 44. 2.83.3% of the matriarchs have experienced mild depression and above and 3.9% of them experienced high level of depression. 9.0% of the matriarchs perceived their health status low and 78.6% of them have percieved their health status moderately. 3. There was a significant difference statistically in the degree of depression according to the religion(t=2.852, p=.005) and income(t=4.25, p=.000). 4.There was also a negative correlation between depression and perceived health status (r=-.499, p=.000) In conclusion, the majority of matriarchs have experienced depression and perceived their health status below moderately, and there was a significant correlation between depression and preceived health status. Considering these facts therefore, We recommend that this data be used in developing nursing intervention program and in understanding matriarchs. Finally, it is suggested that the nursing assistance for matriarchs should not be limited only to physical support but also psychological and systematic support as well.
Picture Archiving and Communication Systems(PACS) provide an integration of digital imaging information in a hospital, which encompasses various imaging equipment, viewing workstations, database archive systems, and a high speed fiber optic network. One of the most important requirements for integration is the standardization of communication protocols to connect devices from different vendors. Since 1985, the ACR-NEMA standard provides a hardware interface, a set of software commands, and a consistent set of data formats for point-to-point interconnection of medical equipment. However, it has been shown to be inadequate for PACS networking environments, because of its point-to-point nature and its inflexibility to allow other services and protocols in the future. Based on previous experience of PACS developments in The University of Arizona, a new communication protocol for PACS networks has been suggested to the ACR-NEMA Working Group VI. The defined PACS protocol is intended to facilitate the development of PACS's capable of interfacing with other hospital information systems. Also, it is intended to allow the creation of diagnostic information data bases which can be interrogated by a variety of distributed devices. A particularly important goal is to support communications in a multivendor environment. The new protocol specifications are defined primarily as a combination of the International Organization for Standardization / Open Systems Interconnection (ISO/OSI) protocols and the data format portion of ACR-NEMA standard. This paper addresses the specification and implementation of the proposed PACS protocol into network node. The protocol specification, which covers Presentation, Session, Transport, and Network layers, is summarized briefly. The implementation has natural extentions to Global PACS environments. The protocol implementation is discussed based on our implementation efforts in the UNIX Operating System Environment. At the same time, results of performance evaluation are presented to demonstrate the implementation of defined protocol. The testing of performance analysis is performed on the PACS prototype node.
The purpose of this article is to identify real problems and to have a view of the future in Korean physical therapy of it through the survey. Moreover we make a statement for the justification acquiring the rights of practing Physical therapiests with this fundamental data. The survey was conduced on 368 employed physical therapiests males 164. tamale 190 in korea from April t to 30 in 1998 with self-administered questionnaire. The following results were obtained : 1. Of the 323 cases, $121(37.46\%)$ work in local clinics, $55(17.02\%)$ in hospitals, $103(31.89\%)$ in general hospital and $21(9.60\%)$ in rehabilitation centers or public welfare facilities. 2. In investigation of annual salary, the most common annual salary was more than 20million won in male$(22.61\%)$ and $12\~14$million won in female$(35.36\%)$ 3. The age group of $27\~29$ years accounted for $32.32\%$ in male and $24\~20$ years accounted for $46.77\%$ in female of the total physical therapiests are the highest. 4. In job satisfaction, $44.5\%$ of physical therapiests who work in general hospital are generally satisfied and $25\%$ are 5. The periods of clinical practice for which physical therapiests expect to devote are 164$(44,81\%)$ consider less than 10years, and $67(18.31\%)$ expect 20years. 6. The problems of physical therapy system in korea are deviated administration of a cantral executive committee$(39.94\%)$ and excessive production of resistered physical therapiests.
This study was accomplished to analyse and compare the occlusal contact patterns during eccentric mandibular movements in adult with normal occlusion. 50 subjects(male 27, female 23), who had natural occlusion and no symptom of temporomandibular disorder, were selected. Teeth contact patterns during mandibular eccentric movements were recorded and the distribution of tooth contacts in maximum intercuspation analysed by T-scan system. And then, tooth contact numbers recored by T-scan and silicone bite registration at centric occlusion were analysed and compared. The results obtained were as follows : 1. Antero-posteriorly, the qualitative center of occlusal contacts in centric occlusion were in the first molar areas, but there was a slight deviation in left-right directions. Thus, distribution of occlusal contacts were not bilaterally symmetric. 2. During the mandibular movements from centric occlusal position to right lateral and left lateral directions, the frequency that maxillary canine joined in lateral guidance was relatively high, but pure canine protected occlusion or pure group function occlusion had small frequency. 3. During mandibular protrusive movement, one or more maxillary central incisors frequently joined in protrusive guidance. 4. During mandibular eccentric movements, working and balancing side premature contact was observered in relatively high frequency. 5. In centric occlusal position, the numbers of occlusal contacts recorded on T-scan were relatively smaller than on silicone bite registration.
Purpose: The aim of the study was to obtain data on the anatomic and histologic distributions, the clinical features, and the treatment results for patients with primary gastric non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Materials and Methods: One hundred thirty-two patients who were treated at 8 university hospitals and 2 general hospitals between January 1991 and December 2000 were enrolled to evaluate clinico-pathologic features. Results: The lower one-third of the stomach was the most frequent site ($42\%$), and the most frequent chief complaint was epigastric pain ($54\%$). Gastric resection was performed in 114 cases. Pathologic findings of preoperative endoscopic biopsy specimens from the 114 patients that underwent surgery were a gastric lymphoma in 94 cases ($82\%$), a carcinoma in 15 cases ($13\%$), an ulcer in 4 cases ($4\%$), and a gastrointestinal stromal tumor in 1 case ($1\%$). The stage distributions by Musshoff's criteria were 71 cases ($54\%$) of stage IE, 36 cases ($27\%$) of stage $II_{1}E$, 8 cases ($6\%$) of stage $II_{2}E$, 2 cases ($2\%$) of stage IIIE, and 15 cases ($11\%$) of stage IVE. Histologic gradings by the Working Formulation in were 31 cases ($23\%$) of low grade, 96 cases ($73\%$) of intermediate grade, and 5 cases ($4\%$) of high grade. Chemotherapy-related complications occurred in 25 cases ($22\%$) while operation-related complications occurred in 6 cases ($5\%$). Seventeen patients ($13\%$) only underwent surgery, 19 ($14\%$) had chemotherapy (CTx) and/or radiotherapy (RTx) only, and 96 patients ($73\%$) received surgery and CTx and/or RTx. No substantial differences in survival were found in relation to the different histologic grades and different treatments. The five-year survival was $85\%$ in stage I or II and $47\%$ in stage III or IV (P=0.0000). Conclusion: Pathologic stage appears to be the single most important prognostic indicator. Survival differences according to treatment modalities were not statistically significant. However, the low number of patients treated with various approaches over a long period precludes a firm conclusion.
The purpose of this study was (1)to undertake a survey to identify the profile of inactive nurses, who account for 42.2% of the 130,000 RN(Registered Nurses) in Korea, (2)to identify factors related to the inactivation of these nurses, (3)to identify reasons behind the high turnover rate of nurses, and (4)to delineate measures for inactive nurses to participate in professional nursing activities so as to upgrade the quality of the health care delivery system in Korea. For these purposes, this study surveyed existing literature on the turnover of nurses and, used the nominal group technique of action research, to collect ideas from hospital/nurse administrators, inactive nurses, nurses on the job, graduate students in nursing, part-time nurses, patients, and their families to formulate strategies to mobilize inactive nurses. The findings are as follows : Frist, institutional supports should be provided to mobilize inactive nurses. To be more specific : (1) A data-base needs be created at the Korean Nurses Association to link inactive nurses with jobs available. (2) Retraining programs need be established to equip inactive nurses for new jobs. (3) Comprehensive information related to employment needs should be made available. Second, a conducive environment needs to be created to draw in inactive nurses to the job market. To be more specific : (1) A system of part-time work needs to be introduced in hospitals. (2) Nurse-specialists need to be promoted. (3) Potential jobs need to be created. (4) Working environment and terms and conditions for nurses need to be improved. (5) Competent nurses need to be secured in the health care delivery system. To achieve the goals presented above, this paper presented 55 specific strategies that may help mitigate the turnover rate of nurses and, in turn, help make the Korean Nurses Association effective in implementing its policies.

The objective of this study was to analyze occlusal contact pattern of 33 young adult males with normal occlusion during lateral excursion using T-scan III system which can measure the dynamic occlusion. Occlusal contact patterns were examined and categorized in non-working side disclusion point(more functionally acceptable position) not canine-to-canine position. Disclusion time, occlusal force, and occlusal force distribution ratio of upper canine at disclusion point during lateral excursion movement was also measured and compared among the groups divided according to contact patterns. The results showed that group function was clearly more dominant than canine guidance and other occlusal contact patterns different with existing patterns were found. There were significantly difference between groups in variables of T-scan measurement. T-scan III system is effective tools to analyze and evaluate occlusal contact patterns, disclusion time, occlusal force, and occlusal force distribution ratio of upper canine at disclusion point.
Background: Local anesthetics alone or in combination with adjuncts, such as oral medications, have routinely been used for pain control during endodontic treatment. The best clinical choice amongst the vast numbers of agents and techniques available for pain control for irreversible pulpitis is unclear. This network meta-analysis combined the available evidence on agents and techniques for pulpal anesthesia in the maxilla and mandible, in order to identify the best amongst these approaches statistically, as a basis for future clinical trials. Methods: Randomized trials in MEDLINE, DARE, and COCHRANE databases were screened based on inclusion criteria and data were extracted. Heterogeneity was assessed and odds ratios were used to estimate effects. Inconsistencies between direct and indirect pooled estimates were evaluated by H-statistics. The Grading of Recommendation, Assessment, Development, and Evaluation working group approach was used to assess evidence quality. Results: Sixty-two studies (nine studies in the maxilla and 53 studies in the mandible) were included in the meta-analysis. Increased mandibular pulpal anesthesia success was observed on premedication with aceclofenac + paracetamol or supplemental 4% articaine buccal infiltration or ibuprofen+paracetamol premedication, all the above mentioned with 2% lignocaine inferior alveolar nerve block (IANB). No significant difference was noted for any of the agents investigated in terms of the success rate of maxillary pulpal anesthesia. Conclusion: Direct and indirect comparisons indicated that some combinations of IANB with premedication and/or supplemental infiltration had a greater chance of producing successful mandibular pulpal anesthesia. No ideal technique for maxillary anesthesia emerged. Randomized clinical trials with increased sample size may be needed to provide more conclusive data. Our findings suggest that further high-quality studies are required in order to provide definitive direction to clinicians regarding the best agents and techniques to use for mandibular and maxillary anesthesia for irreversible pulpitis.
