Wireless mobile communication systems in subway tunnels have been widely researched these years, due to increased demand for the communication applications. As a result, an accurate model is essential to effectively evaluate the communication system performance. Thus, a neoteric three-dimensional (3D) geometry-based stochastic model (GBSM) is proposed for the massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) fading channels in tunnel environment. Furthermore, the statistical properties of the channel such as space-time correlation, amplitude and phase probability density are analyzed and compared with those of the traditional two-dimensional (2D) model by numerical simulations. Finally, the ergodic capacity is investigated based on the proposed model. Numerical results show that the proposed model can describe the channel in tunnels more practically.
Recently, spatial modulation (SM) schemes are considered to improve the reception performance in spatially correlated channel environments. SM schemes utilize a switching method between multiple transmitters to reduce the correlation among multiple transmitters to reduce the correlation of each received signals and can support transmission additional bits using antenna combinations without extra bandwidth. Therefore, SM schemes can overcome correlation interference of conventional MIMO in urban wireless channels. However, the performance comparisons between SM schemes are not yet performed in correlated urban wireless channels. In this paper, some representative SM schemes are compared and a suitable SM-MIMO system in correlated urban wireless channels is proposed.

In this paper, we consider measurement allocation problem in a spatially correlated sensor field. Our goal is to determine the probability of each sensor's being measured based on its contribution to the estimation reliability; it is desirable that a sensor improving the estimation reliability is measured more frequently. We consider a spatial correlation model of a sensor field reflecting transmission power limit, noise in measurement and transmission channel, and channel attenuation. Then the estimation reliability is defined distortion error between event source and its estimation at sink. Motivated by the correlation nature, we model the measurement allocation problem into a cooperative game, and then quantify each sensor's contribution using Shapley value. Against the intractability in the computation of exact Shapley value, we deploy a randomized method that enables to compute the approximate Shapley value within a reasonable time. Besides, we envisage a measurement scheduling achieving the balance between network lifetime and estimation reliability.

This paper proposes an adaptive mode switching algorithm between two strategies in multiple antenna cellular networks:A single-user mode and a multi-user mode for the broadcast channel. If full channel state information is available at the base station, it is known that a multi user transmission strategy would outperform all single-user transmission strategies. In the absence of full side information, it is unclear what the capacity achieving method is, and thus there are few criteria to decide which of the myriad possible methods performs best given a system configuration. We compare a single user transmission and a multi user transmission with linear receivers in this paper where the transmitter and the receivers have multiple antennas, and find that neither strategy dom inates the other. There is instead a transition point between the two strategies. Then, the mode switching point is determined both ana lytically and numerically for a multiple antenna cellular downlink with correlation between transmit antennas.

Recently, device-to-device (D2D) communication has been considered as key technology for future cellular system, because it can solve the problem of excessive data traffic increment and can also provide new communication services. Herein, we propose new neighbor discovery for D2D communication and examine its performance. Our proposed scheme is proximity beacon based discovery in which wireless resource for pilot transmission is assigned based on the spatial correlation of wireless channel and sensing period is adjusted according to target accuracy such that power consumption can be reduced. The performance of our propose scheme is analyzed mathematically and verified through computer simulations.

Soft faults are inherent in wireless sensor networks (WSNs) due to external and internal errors. The failure of processes in a protocol stack are caused by errors on various layers. In this work, impact of errors and channel misbehavior on process execution is investigated to provide an error classification mechanism. Considering implementation of WSN protocol stack, inter-process correlations of stacked and peer layer processes are modeled. The proposed model is realized through local and global decision trees for fault diagnosis. A hybrid framework is proposed to implement local decision tree on sensor nodes and global decision tree on diagnostic cluster head. Local decision tree is employed to diagnose critical failures due to errors in stacked processes at node level. Global decision tree, diagnoses critical failures due to errors in peer layer processes at network level. The proposed model has been analyzed using fault tree analysis. The framework implementation has been done in Castalia. Simulation results validate the inter-process correlation model-based fault diagnosis. The hybrid framework distributes processing load on sensor nodes and diagnostic cluster head in a decentralized way, reducing communication overhead.

This paper discusses the spectral efficiency and performance of asynchronous direct sequency spread spectrum multiple access systems strict bandwidth limitation by Nyquist filtering. The signal to noise plus interference ratio(SNIR) at the output from the correlation receiver is derived analytically taking the cross correlation characteristics of spreading sequences into account, and also an approximated SNIR of a simple form is presented for the systems employing Gold sequences. Based on the analyzed result of SNIR, bit error rate performance and spectral efficiency are also estimated. and at last, we analyzed improvement rate using RS, convolution as a method for improving functions.
An ultra-wideband signal is characterized by a radiated spectrum with wide bandwidth around a relatively low center frequency. In this paper, the bit error rate (BER), packet error rate (PER), and data throughput performance for an ultra-wideband system with M-ary correlation receiver are analyze in additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) and co-channel interference channel. To evaluate the performance of UWB system, a set of UWB communication waveform as pulse position modulated (PPM) signals consisting of more than one UWB pulse is used. The M-ary PPM signals are defined to be equally correlated in order to simplify the system performance analysis. The analysis for system performance shows that the wireless channel error significantly degrades throughput performance and can be effectively increased by hybrid ARQ scheme. Also, an attempt for comparing the data throughput of ultra-wideband system on different performance improvement schemes and parameters has been made. From the performance evaluation process, it is shown that the effects of wireless channel and hybrid ARQ scheme for ultra wideband M-ary PPM system can be evaluated by means of a suitable combination of the PER, throughput vs. signal-to-noise power ratio per bit.

MIMO systems utilizing multiple antenna transmission and reception is one of the key technologies to enhance the capacity of 5G wireless communications. In order to obtain an appropriate performance evaluation of MIMO techniques, the usage of wireless channel model reflecting spatial channel characteristics is required, such as the 3-dimensional spatial channel model(3D SCM) proposed by 3GPP TR36.873 documentation. In this paper, we implement and verify the channel simulation environment based on 3D SCM, to present and compare the characteristics of UMi and UMa environments. We also apply MIMO transmission to the UMa scenario to investigate the channel correlation among antenna elements with different array distances and to identify the corresponding throughput changes. By evaluating the channel power correlations for randomly distributed users within the sector for different horizontal and vertical antenna distances, we present the statistical characteristics which determine the transmission performance under the SCM environment.
In this paper, we propose a method to reduce the amount of current through the Timing Control of the duty cycle and the Report Attribute Control at the MAC Layer in consideration of the Sleep Mode under the IoT wireless environment. The use of a duty cycle is an effective way to reduce energy consumption on wireless sensor networks where the node is placed in sleep mode periodically. In particular, we studied how to control power efficiency through duty rate in Short Transition Time and ACK Time processing while satisfying radio channel limitation criterion. When comparing before and after the improvement considering the delay time constraint, we validated the correlation of the electrical current reduction.
