Development of Mobile Robot for Rough Terrain (야지 주행을 위한 견마형 로봇 개발)

  • In this work, we present the development of a patrol robot which is intended to navigate outdoor rough terrain. Proposed mechanism consists of six legs for overcoming an obstacle, and six wheels for traveling. Also, in order to absorb vibration in rough terrain effectively, the slide-spring system and tubed type tire are adopted to each leg and each wheel. The control system of robot consists of several imbedded boards for management of lots of diverse devices such as sensors designed for rough terrain, motor controllers, camera, micro controller and so on. And the base system of the robot is designed to operate in real time and to surveille in the vicinity of the robot, and the robot system is controlled by wireless LAN connected to GUI-based remote control system, while CAN communication connects the control board and the device controllers for sensors and motor controllers. For operating this robot system efficiently, we propose the control algorithms for autonomous navigation using GPS, stabilization maintenance by posture control, obstacle-avoidance by impedance control, and obstacle-overcoming with interference-avoidance between wheels. The performance of the robot and the proposed algorithms are tested and proved by a set of experiments in outdoor rough terrain.

A Study on the Moving Detection Algorithm for Mobile Intelligent Management System Based on the Cloud (클라우드 기반의 모바일 지능형 관제시스템에서의 움직임 감지 알고리즘에 관한 연구)

  • This study suggested the mobile intelligent management system based on the cloud service. The mobile intelligent management system are composed of cloud server, middleware and sensor networks. Each modules are controlled on mobile environment and observed operating status of each apparatus for environment. In this pater, the image-based moving detection algorithm applied in order to detect an intruder and average 12.3% are measured in moving detection experiments. it was confirmed the validity of the security device.

WATM MAC Protocol using Adaptive Request Mini-slots (적응적 Request Mini-slots을 이용한 WATM MAC 프로토콜)

  • In wireless ATM network, Mobile terminals must offer function and QoS such as terminal of wire ATM network. The fast notification of BS (Base Station) scheduler about ATM cells arriving in mobile terminals is a critical item of the ATM-based centrally controlled MAC protocol. But, Collision is arisen at process that several mobile terminals require data transmission by contention method through uplink and because of re-transmission by collision, throughput of decrease and transmission delay increases. In this paper, We propose the MAC protocol that decide optimized request mini-slot's number considering number of request terminal predicted as statistical and its posterior throughput. According to simulation result, could know that proposed protocol shows high performance delay and throughput.

  • In this paper, a real-time control system with Wi-Fi wireless communication was developed for dentistry Integrated Device. The control system is developed based on the Android platform using S3C6410 ARM core that is equipped with Wi-Fi communication, RS-485, Linux 2.6 and Android 2.0. The control system controls a water purifier, compressor and suction in real-time. The experimental results that the control system was controlled by each control modules connected with a water purifier, compressor and suction. The status values are displayed in real-time using RS485.

  • In this paper, LED lighting system is realized by using Bluetooth wireless communications and smartphones. A bluetooth module with a lighting control function is manufactured by miniaturizing a development board of TI company and the volume of LED dimming system as a whole is reduced. And a trial product is materialized by designing a hardware composed of the manufactured bluetooth module, LED down light equipped with degree warm white and cool white, and 2-channel LED driver; and LED dimming software. The materialized trial product is controled in terms of the brightness and color temperature of LED light source using an application of a smartphone. The experiment showed that the users can easily control the intensity of illumination of LED light source by using the scroll bar of the applications of smartphones. In addition, the color temperatures of both warm white and cool white can be controlled, and when the color temperature of the trial product using the manufactured bluetooth module is compared with that of a trial product of TI company, they show the same color temperatures.

A Design and Control Scheme of a High Efficiency Hybrid PM Generator (고효율 하이브리드 영구자석 발전기의 설계 및 제어방식)

  • This work presents a hybrid generator, which is a combination of a permanent magnet (PM) and winding structure with a PM exciter. The field winding of the proposed hybrid generator is fed by the PM exciter and the embedded current controller, which is installed in the generator shaft. In the no-load condition, the output voltage of the generator is produced by the PM flux of the generator without any field winding current. The field winding current produces an insufficient flux to retain the output voltage of the generator when the load is injected. The total efficiency can be increased from the PM exciter and PM flux of the generator. The field current has to be controlled inside the proposed generator. The generated power from the PM exciter is used to excite the field flux of the generator. The embedded current controller is commanded by the external voltage controller using the infrared wireless method. The 10 kW prototype hybrid PM generator is designed and tested to verify the effectiveness of the proposed system. The experimental results are compared with those of the winding generator with PM exciter.

  • In this paper, we present two types of vision algorithm that mobile robot has CCD camera. for obstacle avoidance. This is simple algorithm that compare with grey level from input images. Also, The mobile robot depend on image processing and move command from PC host. we has been studied self controlled mobile robot system with CCD camera. This system consists of digital signal processor, step motor, RF module and CCD camera. we used wireless RF module for movable command transmitting between robot and host PC. This robot go straight until recognize obstacle from input image that preprocessed by edge detection, converting, thresholding. And it could avoid the obstacle when recognize obstacle by line histogram intensity. Host PC measurement wave from various line histogram each 20 Pixel. This histogram Is ( x , y ) value of pixel. For example, first line histogram intensity wave from ( 0, 0 ) to ( 0, 197 ) and last wave from ( 280, 0 ) to ( 280, 197 ). So we find uniform wave region and nonuniform wave region. The period of uniform wave is obstacle region. we guess that algorithm is very useful about moving robot for obstacle avoidance.

  • In industry, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system plays critical role to ensure production is monitored and controlled rigorously and in timely manner. Having a cost saving yet still effective SCADA system would be much desired by Industry. SCADA itself is a field with constant development and research like how this paper investigates on creating an extremely low cost device, which can be adapted to many different SCADA applications through some very basic programming when combined with relevant peripherals. Much of the process in some expensive SCADA application based on smartphone application is due to specialized communication infrastructure. This paper addresses the needs by developing low cost and integrated wireless SCADA system. The system features capability on accessing the performance of remotely situated device parameter, such as temperature, control analog or digital input output on real time basis. We use existing mobile network capability through Bluetooth communication channel.

  • An X-band push-push VCO for low cost applications is proposed. The designed push-push oscillator achieves a wide tuning range in the X-band by the collector bias tuning instead of extra varactor diodes. The measurement shows a wide tuning bandwidth of $900\;\cal{MHz}\;from\;10.9\;\cal{GHz}\;to\;11.8\;\cal{GHz}$ with a drain bias voltage varying from 4 to 9 V, excellent fudamental suppression of $-30\;\cal{dBc}$ and good phase noise of $-115\;\cal{dBc/Hz}\;@\;1\;\cal{MHz}$ offset.

  • In this paper, the aging of Farm Village in the automatic control system for Vinylhouse with Zigbee short-range wireless interface, the environment, crops grown according to DB, and Vinylhouse controlled environment to identify abnormalities by monitoring the Vinylhouse, regardless of the number of from one server to multiple clients while controlling two-way monitoring system is to perform. Therefore, router, end with a random ID to determine the status of certain Vinylhouse and Vinylhouse, allowing for independent control of Vinylhouse, certain characteristics of a live user wants to control was designed to allow real-time.
