Selectivity Estimation using the Generalized Cumulative Density Histogram (일반화된 누적밀도 히스토그램을 이용한 공간 선택율 추정)

  • Multiple-count problem is occurred when rectangle objects span across several buckets. The CD histogram is a technique which selves this problem by keeping four sub-histograms corresponding to the four points of rectangle. Although It provides exact results with constant response time, there is still a considerable issue. Since it is based on a query window which aligns with a given grid, a number of errors nay be occurred when it is applied to real applications. In this paper, we propose selectivity estimation techniques using the generalized cumulative density histogram based on two probabilistic models : \circled1 probabilistic model which considers the query window area ratio, \circled2 probabilistic model which considers intersection area between a given grid and objects. Our method has the capability of eliminating an impact of the restriction on query window which the existing cumulative density histogram has. We experimented with real datasets to evaluate the proposed methods. Experimental results show that the proposed technique is superior to the existing selectivity estimation techniques. Furthermore, selectivity estimation technique based on probabilistic model considering the intersection area is very accurate(less than 5% errors) at 20% query window. The proposed techniques can be used to accurately quantify the selectivity of the spatial range query on rectangle objects.

Variogram Analysis for Spatial Similarity Measures : A Case Study using Geochemical Data Sets in the Taebaek Area (공간적 상관도 측정을 위한 변이도 분석 : 태백지역의 지화학자료를 이용한 사례 연구)

  • The geological information analysis based on spatial statistical techniques have been studied in relation to mineral exploration. The applicability of outlier detection using moving-window statistics and directional cross-variography analysis have been verified by using geochemical data sets surveyed in the Taebaek area for mineral exploration. The directional variogram analysis has been basically known as a geostatistical method for spatial continuity measures. In this study, the application of this proposed method was extended to measure spatial correlation or similarity problems between two geochemical elements. For the appraisal of the usefulness of this scheme, five kinds of variogram functions were computed for original data and revised data, obtained by removing outliers detected by moving-window statistics and the results were compared. It is concluded that these advanced spatial statistical methods at the interpretation stage of spatial similarity provide us with valuable quantitative results as decision-supporting information for regional mineral exploration task.

Metastability Window Measurement of CMOS D-FF Using Bisection (이분법을 이용한 CMOS D-FF의 불안정상태 구간 측정)

  • As massive integration technology of transistors has been developing, multi-core circuit is fabricated on a silicon chip and a clock frequency is getting faster to meet the system requirement. But increasing the clock frequency can induce some problems to violate the operation of system such as clock synchronization, so it is very import to avoid metastability events to design digital chips. In this paper, metastability windows are measured by bisection method in H-spice depending on temperature, supply voltage, and the size of transmission gate with D-FF designed with 180nm CMOS process. The simulation results show that the metastability window(: MW) is slightly increasing to temperature and supply voltage, but is quadratic to the area of a transmission gate, and the best area ration of P and Ntransitor in transmission gate is P/N=4/2 to get the least MW.

  • A stereo vision, which is based on two or more images taken from different view points, is able to build three dimensional maps of its environment having various applications including robots and home networks. SAD algorithm, which is based on area-based correlation, is widely used since its regular structure provide abundant parallelism. In this paper, we present heuristic designs of SAD algorithm to meet the demands on accuracy and resource usages in various applications. The disparity abridgement and the window abridgement algorithms can be used for vision systems in low cost and small size. The window shape algorithm can be applicable when object are in specific shapes. The adaptive window algorithm work well when accuracy is the primary concern.

A Study on the Ward Module according to the External Design of the Hospital (병원 외주부 디자인에 따른 병실모듈 연구)

  • Purpose: It is important to plan the ward module at a time when the size of beds, the floor area, and the construction budget are all set prior to the hospital design. In this context this study aims (1) to derive various factors affecting the ward module, and (2) to analyze the appropriate room module according to the type. Methods: Design factors related to hospital modules are derived through precedential studies, and the types of ward elevation are classified by reviewing the drawings of 18 case hospitals. And the detailed dimensions and area of the derived elements are analyzed. Results: The X-axis modules of the ward are switched to long span structural columns of 9.9 m, 12.6 m and 13.2 m, but the ward modules still represent 6.6 m. The Y-axis module of the ward shows a dimension of 9 to 9.9m in the process of changing a multi-person room into a four-person room. Type A of curtain wall with columns located on the wall of the room and type B of curtain wall located in the center of the room are analyzed due to their variations. The square window type, which forms the elevation of the square window by exposing the columns to the elevation, and the outframe type, which protrudes from the structural columns and beams, have elevation designs limited. There are, however, no obstacles to the interior space of the hospital room, so the wall composition and furniture arrangement are expected to be free. The ward area of Curtain Wall Type A, which can secure an effective area of 5.9m*5.0m, are 52.1m2. The Curtain Wall Type A, Square window type, and the outframe type are 49.8m2. Implications: As part of the hospital standard module plan for economical and reasonable hospital building planning, a type was proposed in this study in conjunction with the external design. It is hoped that it be a base for standard module research linked together to the Central Treatment department, Outpatient department and underground parking lot.

Earliest Intercept Geometry Guidance to Improve Mid-Course Guidance in Area Air-Defence

  • This paper describes a mid-course guidance strategy based on the earliest intercept geometry (EIG) guidance. An analytical solution and performance validation will be addressed for generalized mid-course guidance problems in area air-defence in order to improve reachability and performance. The EIG is generated for a wide range of possible manoeuvres of the challenging missile based on the guidance algorithm using differential geometry concepts. The main idea is that a mid-course guidance law can defend the area as long as it assures that the depending area and objects are always within the defended area defined by EIG. The velocity of Intercept Point in EIG is analytically derived to control the Intercept Geometry and the defended area. The proposed method can be applied in deciding a missile launch window and launch point for the launch phase.

A study on Adaptive Multi-level Median Filter using Direction Information Scales (방향성 정보 척도를 이용한 적응적 다단 메디안 필터에 관한 연구)

  • Pixel classification is one of basic image processing issues. The general characteristics of the pixels belonging to various classes are discussed and the radical principles of pixel classification are given. At the same time. a pixel classification scheme based on image direction measure is proposed. As a typical application instance of pixel classification, an adaptive multi-level median filter is presented. An image can be classified into two types of areas by using the direction information measure, that is. smooth area and edge area. Single direction multi-level median filter is used in smooth area. and multi-direction multi-level median filter is taken in the other type of area. What's more. an adaptive mechanism is proposed to adjust the type of the filters and the size of filter window. As a result. we get a better trade-off between preserving details and noise filtering.

Estimation on the Interior and Outside Aircraft Noise Level of Residential House (주거용 건물의 실내.외 항공기소음레벨 평가)

  • It is important to increase the sound proof performance of building for reducing the influence of aircraft noise on the bais of actual survey of existed buildings. The purpose of this study is to propose the basic data for designing sound insulation of residential house. In this study, field measurement of aircraft noise Interior and outside noise level difference were carried out for 7 days in 2 residential houses. As the result, aircraft noise levels showed to be Leq $71.8{\sim}74.5$dB(A), WECPNL $82.2{\sim}83.4$ and indoor noise level were NC-55 ${\sim}63$ over acceptable NC-30 in 2 measured houses. Noise reduction effect showed to be $15.8{\sim}23.1$dB(A) in measured houses, and houses with double window were preferable to those with single window in sound proof performance. The outside sound pressure level for residential house was a little different according to the type of source. In measuring by using aircraft noise it was effected by angle and distance from measuring point, to aircraft, window area, and sound absorption of room, and so on.

  • In this paper, we proposed new software for 3D rendering of MR images in the medical domain using C# wrapper of Visualization Toolkit (VTK) and Microsoft .NET framework. Our objective in developing this software was to provide medical image segmentation, 3D rendering and visualization of hippocampus for diagnosis of Alzheimer disease patients using DICOM Images. Such three dimensional visualization can play an important role in the diagnosis of Alzheimer disease. Segmented images can be used to reconstruct the 3D volume of the hippocampus, and it can be used for the feature extraction, measure the surface area and volume of hippocampus to assist the diagnosis process. This software has been designed with interactive user interfaces and graphic kernels based on Microsoft.NET framework to get benefited from C# programming techniques, in particular to design pattern and rapid application development nature, a preliminary interactive window is functioning by invoking C#, and the kernel of VTK is simultaneously embedded in to the window, where the graphics resources are then allocated. Representation of visualization is through an interactive window so that the data could be rendered according to user's preference.
