Study on Surge Voltage Distribution Design for UHV Transformer Windings by Finite Element Method (유한요소법에 의한 초고압변압기권선의 충격파전위분포설계에 관한 연구)

  • Finte element methods are developed for the initial distribution problems which contain the surge potential circuits of high voltage transformer windings. The initial distribution of surge voltages in transformer windings are useful to the work to a practical engineering basis. However, the conventional methods of analyzing them so far are much complicated for practical designs. In this paper, the ability to solve surge potential field problems underlies the development of descreting methods to a lodal capacitive distribution-coefficients for determing the surge voltage relationship among a set of transformer coils. A practical example-the modeling of an antioscillation shield coil winding and hisercap winding is used to illustrate and evaluate these methods.

Properties of On-Line Partial Discharge in Hydrogenerator Stator Windings (수력발전기 고정자 권선의 운전중 부분방전 특성)

  • During normal machine operation, partial discharge(PD) tests were performed with partial discharge analyzer(PDA) in two hydrogenerators. Six cable couplers were installed in circuit ring bus and endwinding of three phases. PDA showed that the normalized quantity number(NQN) and the partial discharge magnitude$(Q_m)$ were very low in hydrogenerator #1 and #2, respectively. The trend analyses of NQN and $Q_m$ value are available for monitoring of the insulation condition in hydrogenerator stator windings. The insulation condition of stator winding can be assessed. Discharge at conductor surface was discovered in B phase(C2 coupler) of hydrogenerator #1. Internal discharges were generated in A and C phases(C2 coupler) of hydrogenerator #1 and in A, Band C phases(C1 and C2 couplers) of hydrogenerator #2. Slot discharges occurred in A, Band C phases(C1 coupler) of hydrogenerator #1. The stator windings of two hydrogenerators were in good condition.

  • This paper describes the test results of the single phase 3kVA high temperature superconducting power trans-former. The tapes are made with Bi-2223 and have silver alloy as the matrix. Four double pancake windings are used in total. Among them two double pancake windings are connected in series for high voltage winding and two double pancake windings are connected in parallel for low voltage winding. The rated voltages of each winding are 220/110 V. Fundamental characteristics are obtained through short circuit and no load tests. The over load capability and characteristics are investigated.

  • A plant's generator system under operating condition has been suffered the vibration from the excitation force with 120Hz. The vibration is generated in the stator end windings. For analyze dynamic characteristics of the generator's stator, its finite element model were obtained using ANSYS software package for modal and harmonic analysis. we compare the analysis result with experimental data. The results show that the resonance frequency, which is related with second ecliptical mode on the stator end windings 129Hz. The experimental results are good agreement with the FEA model.

  • This paper presents dynamic performance prediction using Matlab / simulink after parameter estimation of synchronous reluctance motor considering iron loss. Test motor is 3 phase SynRM with the segmental rotor, rating power is 0.175KW. Experiment equipment is consists of testing motor, dynamometer, vector invertor dynamocontroller, and power analyser. The stator iron loss and rotor iron loss are modelled by additional windings on three-phase winding axis. These windings are transformed into d-q axis, and are represented as equivalent eddy current windings. P-Q circle diagram method and single phase standstill method are used to measure motor parameters considering iron loss.

  • Two stator windings for high voltage motor(rated 6.6kV) were manufactured with mica tape/varnish(No. 1). and mica tape(No. 2). Electrical tests included ac current, tan $\delta$ and partial discharge magnitude in these stator windings. Electrical properties showed that No. 1 stator winding was better than that of No. 2. Microstructure properties were conducted using scanning electron microscope(SEM) in the cross section of the straight stator windings. SEM results indicated that the mica tape interface of No. 1 stator winding was larger than that of No. 2 stator winding.

  • This paper presents the performance evaluation of an HTS transformer. Numerical calculation by finite element method was used to evaluate the performance. BSCCO-2223 HTS tapes and double pancake winding were adopted in this design. Four double pancake windings were used in total. Among them two windings were connected in series for high voltage winding and two windings are connected in parallel for low voltage winding. Propertied of various type of the winding arrangement were examined. Characteristics of the transformer during the transient which was caused by sudden short were simulated. The current limiting effect, temperature rise and resistance growth of the superconducting winding were shown.

  • Six stator slot couplers(SSC) and a flux probe sensor installed on the stator winding slots of large turbine generator. Assessment of insulation condition has been based upon the measurements of partial discharge(PD) of stator windings and shorted-turn of rotor windings in operating large turbine generator. The maximum PD magnitude(Qm), normalized quantify number(NQN), PD pattern and shorted-turn were measured using on-line insulation condition monitoring system. The NQN and Qm of slot PD side in the phase A are indicated the highest value in six SSC sensors. Monitoring system results showed that discharge at conductor surface and internal discharge were detected at the surface of stator winding and in voids of the groundwall insulation. Insulation of stator and rotor windings in large turbine generator was judged to be in good condition.

  • This paper describes the construction and test results of a 10kVA single phase HTS transformer. Double pancake windings with BSCCO-2223 HTS tape and GFRP cryostat with room temperature bore are used in the transformer. Two double pancake windings are connected in series to provide 184 turns and two double pancake windings are connected in parallel to conduct the secondary current of 45.4A. Coefficients of the constructed transformer are obtained using the fundamental tests of the transformer. According to the test results, larger leakage reactance than expected is observed due to the bulky core which surrounded the cryostat.

  • This paper is purpose to understand the surge property for the shorted turn or shorted strand in high voltage motor stator windings. a shorted turn in high voltage motor windings causes a huge circulating current. and overheat windings, consequently burns the motor. a few shorted strands not cause winding failure immediately, but they increase the winding loss and temperature increase due to contact resistance. We carried out the surge test for three cases, normal winding, shorted turn winding and shorted strand winding. and we analyzed the test result.
