방패연의 방구멍 효과에 대한 분석 (The Analysis of Wind Hole Effect for The Bangpae Kite)

  • 우리 민족 고유의 전통 문화유산인 방패연은 안정적인 장방형 표면에 다양한 그림과 글씨로 예술성을 표현하고 있으며 가운데 방구멍이 있음으로 해서 우수한 비행성능을 갖는다. 본 논문에서는, 방구멍이 연의 성능에 미치는 공기역학적인 효과를 분석하기 위해 다양한 비율의 방패연 모델에 대한 공력 측정과 방구멍을 관통하는 공기흐름을 가시화하는 실험을 수행하였으며 이를 분석한 결과 방구멍은 경계층 분리를 제어하는 날개 고양력 장치의 슬롯 시스템과 유사한 기능을 발휘한다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 이는 우리 조상들이 서양의 비행기 발명 이전에 고양력장치의 원리를 이해하여 연의 비행 성능 개선에 효과적으로 적용하여 왔다는 것을 증명한다.

스팬 방향 곡선 상반각과 방구멍을 갖는 전통 방패연의 풍동 실험 연구 (A Study of Wind Tunnel Test of a Korean Traditional Bangpae Kite with the Wind Hole and Spanwise Curved Dihedral)

  • 본 논문에서는 스팬방향으로 곡면 상반각과 방구멍을 갖는 전통 방패연에 작용하는 공기력을 풍동실험을 통해 측정하였다. 방구멍이 없는 평판 연의 경우 ${\alpha}=35^{\circ}$에서 $C_{Lmax}$=1.2이고 실속 현상이 뚜렷하게 나타났다. 반면에 방구멍을 가진 전통 방패연에서는 ${\alpha}=30^{\circ}$에서 $C_{Lmax}$=1.05를 가지지만 명백한 실속현상은 나타나지 않았으며 반경이 커짐에 따라 실속각 이후의 양력 및 항력 곡선이 완만하게 변하였다. 곡선 상반각이 커질수록 항력 곡선에 비해 양력 곡선이 차이가 커졌으며 방구멍 반경이 작을수록 상반각의 효과는 크게 나타나고 방구멍 반경이 클수록 상반각의 효과가 거의 일정하게 나타났다.

풍혈의 환경 특성과 식물지리적 가치 (Environmental Characteristics of Wind-Hole and Phytogeographical Values)

  • Present work aims to establish an integrated management system of environmental data base for nine typical wind holes or air holes in Korea. It basically deals with definition, geographical distribution, morphological pattern, physical characteristics and anthropogenic environments of wind hole to propose systematic preservation strategy of their periglacial landscape and flora, which are known to be sensitive to global warming. Wind hole, in which cool air blows out during the summer, but mild air comes out during the winter from a cave or hole, is frequently found on northwest- and north-facing slopes on the terminal point of steep talus, block field, and block stream, and can be categorized into three types, i.e., talus, cave and sink types. Environmental characteristics of nine wind holes are analyzed on the basis of their geology, landform, climate, soil, hydrology, vegetation, road, footpath, land-use, and management system, and relevant DB are prepared. Wind hole areas with unique landscape and ecological values need to be designated as a nature reserve, and zoning of core, buffer, and transitional zones are required for the multi-dimensional preservation of periglacial landscape and ecosystem. Phytogeographical values of glacial relict plants, including mountain cranberry(Vaccinium vitis-idaea) at its global southernmost limit at Bangnaeri wind hole, Hongchon County, Gangwon Province of Korea are discussed in detail as a floristic refugia in connection with climate change during the Pleistocene Epoch and potential in-situ and ex-situ preservation sites in the future.

풍혈의 공간적 분포 특징과 관리 방안 (Spatial Distributional Characteristics of Wind-Hole and Governance Strategy)

  • Wind holes or air holes, from which cool air blows out during the summer, but mild air comes out during the winter, have provided the phytogeographically important refugia for cryophilous or cold-loving boreal flora during the Holocene period. At present, wind holes are serving as a faraway disjunctive habitat for Pleistocene relict glacial floristic elements, and present an invaluable information to reconstruct the natural history. Present work aims to collate the nationwide distribution and relevant DB on the potential wind holes of Korea based upon media and literature sources, along with geographical informations, such as place name, topographic map, environmental geographical information, flora, monitoring data of Korea National Arboretum, and field survey data. Geographical information on sixty nine wind hole sites have compiled and analyzed on the basis of flora and presence of fossilized periglacial landforms, such as talus, block field, and block stream, and sixteen sites have thereafter carefully selected and scrutinized through field surveys. To maintain a sustainability of wind hole ecosystem, including their original landform, micro-meteorological phenomena and plant community therein as a refugia or habitat for relict plant species of Pleistocene glacial period, appropriate restrictions and preservation measures are required.

  • Ionic wind may be produced by DC corona discharges. In this work, the electrical effect has studied to evaluate applicability in fields of electrostatic cooling, ozone generation, electrostatic precipitation, heat transfer, air flow modification, and etc. The ionic wind velocity was measured as a function of the distance of pin to plate and the diameter of punched hole. The pin to punched-plate electrode generates airflow from pin to plate and the flow direction is controlled by the hole size of punched-plate, input voltage and distance between two electrodes. As a consequence, the ionic wind velocity is nearly proportional to the applied voltages and ranges from 1 to 3 m/sec.

승용차 충돌을 고려한 가로등주 설계 (Design of a column for streetlamp considering the car crash)

  • A column for streetlamp has been damaged by severe wind loads such as typhoon. The stress concentration around the inspection hole may cause the collapse of the column for streetlamp. In this paper, the effects due to the wind load of 60 m/s and the car crash to the column at the speed of 48 km/h were considered to examine the design stability analysis of the column for streetlamp. The maximum von Mises stress did not exceed the yield stress of the material. Considering the car crash, the column for streetlamp was not collapsed.

Aerodynamic mitigation of wind loads on a large-span cantilevered roof: A combined wind tunnel and CFD analysis

  • Large-span cantilevered roof represents a unique type of structure that is vulnerable to wind loads. Inspired by the need to maximumly reducing the rooftop wind loads, this study examined the feasibility of positioning vented slots on the leading edge, and the effectiveness of such aerodynamic mitigation measures are assessed via both physical and numerical simulations. The reliability of numerical simulation was evaluated via comparisons with the wind tunnel tests. The results indicated that, the variation of venting hole arrangement can cause significant change in the rooftop wind load characteristics. For the cases involved in this study, the maximum reduction of mean and peak wind suction coefficients are found to be 9% and 8% as compared to the original circular slot without venting holes. In addition, the effect of slot shape is also evident. It was shown that the triangular shaped slot tends to increase the wind suction near the leading edge, whereas the hexagonal and octagonal shaped slots are found to decrease the wind suction. In particular, with the installation of octagonal shaped slot, the maximum reduction of wind suction coefficients near the leading edge reaches up to 31% as compared to the circular shaped slot, while the maximum reduction of mean wind suction coefficients is about 30%.

증기누출사고의 영향평가에서 제트화재에 미치는 매개변수의 영향 (The Effects of Parameters Affecting the Results in the Jet Fire for the Vapor Release Accident)

  • In order to propose the method of the consequence analysis for fire accidents by the heavy gas release and to obtain optimum conditions of parameter selections, the consequence analysis for jet fire by the accident of xylene vapor release were performed. And the effect and the sensitivity analysis of parameters affecting the consequence were investigated. Simulation results showed that important parameters affecting results of the xylene vapor release accident were mainly hole diameter, interested distance, wind speed, and so on. For the jet fire, the accident result and the sensitivity of thermal radiation were increased with the decrease of interested distance and the increase of hole diameters, and the accidental result was increased as the increase wind speed, but the sensitivity of thermal radiation was decreased.

기저면이 경사진 Ogive실린더의 공력특성에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study for the Aerodynamic Characteristics of Slanted-Base Ogive Cylinder)

  • Drag, lift, and pitching moment measurements have been made on a range of slanted-base ogive cylinders, using the KANOMAX wind tunnel and balance system. Test Reynolds numbers(based on model maximum diameter) varied from $0.54{\times}10^{5}{\;}to{\;}1.56{\times}10^{5}$. Crossflow velocity maesurement was conducted by 5-hole pitot tube at $Re_{D}=1.46{\times}10^{5}$. For two base angle $({\theta}=30$ and 45 deg.), aerodynamic forces and moment were measured with increasing angle of attack(0~30 deg.). Two types of wake flow were observed, a quasisymetric turbulent closure or a longitudinal vortex flow. Aerodynamic characteristics differ dramatically between the two wake types. It was found that the drag, lift and pitching moment coefficients increased with increasing angle of attack.

풍력발전기용 3점 지지 기어박스에서 캐리어 핀홀 위치 오차가 유성기어의 하중분할에 미치는 정성적 영향에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study for the Qualitative Effect of Carrier Pin Hole Position Error on Planet Load Sharing of Wind Turbine Three-point Suspension Gearbox)

  • In this study, the qualitative effects of the positional error of carrier pin holes on the planet load sharing characteristics of the three-point suspension gearbox of wind turbines were investigated experimentally. A 35-kW gearbox comprising two planetary gear stages and a parallel gear stage and size one-fourth of that of a 2-MW three-point suspension gearbox was used as the test gearbox. The strain gauges attached to the ring gear teeth of the input planetary gear stage were used for the purpose of this study. The applied loading conditions were 50%, 75%, and 100% of the rated torque, and the mesh load factor was used as the load sharing index. The experimental results indicated that both the magnitude and direction of the positional error of pin holes had a significant effect on the planet load sharing characteristics of the three-point suspension gearbox. In addition, an increase in the applied torque results in uniform load sharing.
